Dancing on Ice stars Torvill and Dean's huge net worth after retiring
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are worth a cool £5 million as they hang up their boots and retire from ice skating. The pair were judges on Dancing on Ice for 19 years until it was announced the ITV show would not return in 2026.
They then went on a farewell tour of the UK called 'Our Last Dance', playing huge shows in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow before performing for the final time together in their beloved hometown of Nottingham on July 12.
Now Jayne, 67, and Christopher, 66, are set to enjoy a fruitful retirement as accounts for their skating company Waikiki Limited revealed they've amassed assets of £5 million, including a whopping £620,000 in cash.
That's £586,000 more than they earned the previous year. And next year's earnings following their latest tour could be even more, as these accounts only cover the period up to 27 October 2024.
Dancing on Ice, which had aired since 2006, came to an end in March 2025. The most recent final, won by Coronation Street star Sam Aston managed to pull in just 2.7 million viewers – a staggering decline from the viewing figures it once had, with an estimated 12 million tuning in during previous years.
Announcing the show wouldn't be returning next year, an ITV spokesperson said: "Following another successful series earlier this year, Dancing On Ice will be rested in 2026 with no current plans for another series.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the cast and crew who have worked on the show since 2006, and over the previous 17 series, for all of their hard work both on and off the ice."
But despite a dip in viewing figures, former Dancing on Ice pro Alex Murphy said it was more likely the fact Torvill and Dean announced they would be retiring this year that led to it being shelved.
She told The Sun: "Torvill and Dean are national treasures. They are fantastic people, and the most iconic skaters in the skating world as a whole, not just England, and I think Britain sometimes doesn't recognise that, or even notice that they are iconic to the world.
"We are obsessed with them in my industry as a skater. I grew up watching them, my mother grew up watching them. They are so iconic. So it's their show. I just love that. It's their show. So whenever they're ready, I think, then that's when it will go.'
The ice skating icons shot to fame in 1984 after their legendary bolero dance saw them secure a gold medal and 12 perfect 6.0 scores at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in a performance that was watched by 24 million Brits alone - making it one of the most-watched TV events in British history.
Jayne recently revealed that they managed to work together and stay friends for the past 50 years because they never married and their relationship was always platonic.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast, she said of their partnership, which began when they were just 15: "It was all just very new for both of us. As we skated together a few more times, I think we both realised that we both had a passion for it, and we both wanted to get better. Keep doing it, practice, get better.
"And I think that's what kept us going all these years. I always say that we never got married, so that's why we are still best of friends and still love working together."
Reflecting on their final performance, Christopher said their journey now 'feels complete.' He added: "After the tour finishes in Nottingham, we'll be hanging up the skates as Torvill and Dean. Will it be a sad moment? Of course! We climbed up the mountain, saw the beautiful views, won a few medals and we're able to bow out on our terms. The journey feels complete."

Paul Gascoigne leaves hospital and 'doing well' at home as health issue becomes clear
Paul Gascoigne has been discharged from hospital after a scary incident in his home on Friday night, but the 58-year-old ex-footballer is still recovering from the problem Paul Gascoigne has returned home from hospital but is still 'very poorly', according to a close friend. Gascoigne was admitted to hospital on Friday after collapsing at home in Poole, Dorset. The 58-year-old ex-footballer was discovered semi-conscious in his bedroom and was rushed to A&E. He was kept in hospital over the weekend and was understood to have been in a stable condition. Having initially been put in intensive care, he was recovering in an acute ward. Thankfully Gazza is now doing better, with his management telling ITV that he went to hospital "after struggling with a throat condition he has had for a while" and is "back home and doing well". 'Paul voluntarily went into A&E on Friday after struggling with a throat condition he has had for a while,' Carly Saward at the MNT talent agency told the Associated Press too. 'He is already back home and doing well.' Meanwhile, his friend and personal assistant Steve Foster – who found him on Friday – has been visiting Gazza every day and told The Sun: 'Paul is stable now but is still very poorly. 'But it shows how popular and loved he still is by fans everywhere. I can't walk down the street with him without him being stopped – it's crazy.' Gazza has battled with alcoholism and addiction throughout his life, but has been in better shape recently. "He has told friends that he is fine and was going to give an update later today," a source close to the star told The Mirror earlier on Monday. "He has been doing well recently so this was an unexpected setback. 'He had a full three months without alcohol over the summer while he was doing various speaking engagements and looked really well." Gazza won 57 caps for England and played for Newcastle, Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and Everton during a distinguished career. But his struggles off the pitch have sadly taken over his life in recent years. Speaking on the High Performance podcast in March 2024, he said: 'I used to be a happy drunk, I ain't any more … I'm a sad drunk. I don't go out and drink, I drink indoors. If I want to make it a bad day, [all I need to do is] go down the pub. If I want it to be a good day, I get my flying rod out and go fishing. 'It's not the drinking, it's the afterwards. Looking at my phone after and seeing 30 messages or missed calls, I know I'm in trouble. But I've been all right. Last year wasn't brilliant, was off and on for a couple of months.' Gascoigne added: 'I try not to get down because the world 's already down enough and when I'm really down, that's when I pick up a drink to cheer myself up. I don't think I let any managers down, or the players or the fans, you know. If there was anyone I let down, it was myself. But more the drinking side of it, when I finished playing.'

Pregnant Katherine Ryan 'dejected' at the thought of her baby being a boy
Pregnant comedian Katherine Ryan isn't exactly thrilled about the prospect of having a baby boy. The Canadian star, 42, is currently expecting her fourth child. She is already a proud mum of 16-year-old Violet and her children with Bobby Kootstra: son Fred, four, and daughter Fenna, two. However, she'd seemingly much prefer adding another girl to her brood, having already confirmed that baby number four will be her last. In an appearance on Heart Radio's breakfast show this morning, she confessed to hosts Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman that she's been 'antagonised' by men throughout her life. She also joked about youngest Fred being a 'toxic male'. Katherine, who confirmed her pregnancy last month, began: 'I have to say that I can't ever complain post-first trimester. 'I'm quite big, so I think it might be a boy, so I'm feeling dejected about that, because men have just antagonised me all my life, even before they're born.' After welcoming her kids thus far in the order of 'girl, boy, girl,' Katherine said she never finds out her baby's sex beforehand. 'It's always a surprise, and I love that. It's vintage', she stated. The Duchess star then declared that she will inevitably suffer 'gender disappointment' if her little one arrives as a boy. 'I will have it (gender disappointment) this time if it's a boy. You know what it is, my son is a toxic male; he's four years old, and he always wants to fight me,' she shared. Katherine recalled: 'I drove him to nursery the other day; he sat behind me, and he had a sword held to my throat for a while. 'Like, who's giving you weapons?' 'I didn't grow up with brothers, so it's been an adjustment for me,' she admitted. But don't worry, it's all in jest—in true Katherine style, of course—as she assured listeners: 'But I love him; he's a very special guy.' At the end of June, Katherine revealed that she kept her second pregnancy secret out of fear of losing work. She was presenting Ready to Mingle on ITV at the time and was eight months pregnant, which nobody knew. Katherine claimed that she would be unable to get insured during the project if she were pregnant. In an interview with The Sun, she said: 'During my pregnancy, I wasn't telling anyone. You can't get insured on any production if you are pregnant. Sometimes, if you are important enough, they go the extra mile. You see Holly Willoughby pregnant and that's because she's worth it. 'I tried to keep it secret. People just thought I was really fat for ages. I had to keep it quiet. I still needed to work to feed my family.' Katherine added that she didn't want to 'let down a production' if she encountered any complications during pregnancy. The beloved 8 Out of 10 Cats comic has been open about her fertility struggles in the past, having suffered three devastating miscarriages over the span of five years. 'I'm old. I used to think I was going to be the babies' dad because I'm working, but actually I'm like their grandmother,' she told OK! Magazine last November. 'My back hurts; sometimes I give them treats. I'm like a fun grandma.' The beloved stand-up star, who frequently uses the ups and downs of parenting for material in her routines, admitted that she'd been deterred from expanding her family after learning the shocking statistics about pregnancy. More Trending 'We've always gotten pregnant with the babies quite quickly. I've been pregnant five times in five years, but that also means I've had three miscarriages in five years,' she said, adding that the likelihood of miscarriage increases as a woman gets older. 'You have to find a balance between what you can personally stand and risks you're willing to take.' When confirming that she won't be having any more kids now, she told the Telling Everyone Everything podcast that while she 'loves making people' with partner Bobby, she believes it would be 'almost irresponsible to the children that [they] have and to [themselves]' should they continue.
