Man arrested for smashing Teluk Intan council doors
Hilir Perak district police chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the 63-year-old suspect was arrested after a complaint was lodged at 10.35 am over a man behaving aggressively and damaging public property at the building.
'Investigations found that the suspect arrived at the scene on a motorcycle, parked in front of the MPTI building, and then took a sledgehammer to break the glass doors.
'After the incident, the suspect tried to leave the scene and head to his shop in Jalan Bandar, Teluk Intan, but was apprehended and handed over to the police,' he said in a statement on Thursday.
Bakri said that the suspect's aggressive actions were believed to have stemmed from his dissatisfaction with the MPTI for setting up a tent in front of his watch repair shop during the annual Chitra Pournami celebration, as it blocked his customers' view of the premises.
He said the suspect also claimed he had lodged several complaints with the MPTI, but no action was taken, prompting him to act in such a manner.
Bakri said the police also seized a sledgehammer believed to have been used by the suspect during the incident, and a remand application would be filed tomorrow to assist investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
Earlier, a video lasting 1 minute and 30 seconds showing a man acting aggressively by smashing the glass doors of the MPTI building after arriving on a motorcycle went viral on social media.

Judge Zuraidah Zakaria meted out the sentence after the accused changed his plea to guilty to a charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, and ordered him to undergo counselling during his imprisonment, as well as two years of police supervision upon release. According to the facts of the case, the victim and her younger sister were taken by their cousin to the rented room to collect some belongings, travelling in a car together with the accused and another man. Upon arrival, the cousin bought 'nasi lemak' for the victim and her sister, and after the meal, the victim left to look for water to drink as there was none in the room. When she returned, she began to feel dizzy and while in a semi-conscious state, discovered that her trousers had been removed by the accused. She later realised that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with her, and noticed physical traces of the act. On April 26, 2022, the victim informed her mother that she was pregnant, leading to her mother filing a police report that led to the arrest of the accused. The victim gave birth on Aug 26, with results of a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test conclusively proving the accused was the biological father of the child, recording a 99.99 per cent match. Prosecuting was deputy public prosecutor Mohd Fadzri Azham Zainudin, while the accused was represented by lawyer Christopher Bada.

Akmal Saleh to be charged on Friday (Aug 22)
PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh says he will be charged on Friday (Aug 22). In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Aug 19), the Umno Youth chief said police told him he would be charged under section 505(b) of the Penal Code with making statements conducing to public mischief. VERDICT: TRUE Police confirmed they received a report about an incident involving a car being struck by an arrow on Jalan Macalister here, which has since gone viral on social media. According to Bernama, Northeast OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the 57-year-old male driver lodged the report, and investigations confirmed that the incident occurred at 3.30pm on Aug 13. "While the complainant was driving from Air Itam towards Jalan Pangkor and passing through Jalan Macalister, an arrow, believed to have come from an archery activity, suddenly lodged itself onto the right rear door of his car. "The man was unharmed in the incident, and the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 19). ACP Abdul Rozak said checks revealed that an archery training activity organised by the Penang State Sports Council (MSN) was being held at the school field adjacent to Jalan Macalister, and it was halted on Aug 14 after the incident was reported. He added that the matter was also reported to the Penang MSN and the state Education Department by the school. A viral 51-second video showed a car driver shocked after discovering an arrow lodged in his car as he drove along the road.
