Fujifilm's Instax Mini 41 Is a Stylish and Capable Instant Camera

WIRED26-04-2025

Fujifilm's Instax cameras have taken over what Polaroid started so many decades ago. There are still Polaroid cameras, but Instax is the far more popular choice. Fujifilm's cameras are simple and fun. No matter which Instax camera you buy, it's fun. You point, you shoot, you see the results.
The latest in Fujifilm's Instax line is the new Instax Mini 41, a budget option like the very popular Mini 12, but with a more retro, camera-like design. It lacks the manual controls that photographers might want, but it's simple and fun in a way that more capable cameras often aren't.

The Mini 41 is a very plastic camera, though it doesn't look like it. The design makes it look a little like Fujifilm's insanely popular X100VI. Once you pick up the Mini 41, however, the plastic really comes out. It feels like an Instax Mini 12 in a different suit of clothes. This is both good and bad. It's good in that the simplicity and automation remain, but it's not so good in that the plasticky vibes are strong. This is definitely not the Mini 99.
The Mini 12 comes in at $80, the Mini 99 is $200, and the Mini 41 arrives at $129. Why spend more than $80 for nearly the same features? Essentially, you get a camera that looks more like a 'camera.' It still has the same fully automatic features of the Mini 12, (including some not-so-good features, like the automated flash that occasionally washes out photos in bright daylight), but it doesn't have the bubbly cartoonish design of the Mini 12.

Agfa Launches Three New Digital Photo Products All Ready For A Summer Of Fun

The new Agfa Realkids Cam Waterproof 2 is designed for kids and can shoot stills and videos. For more than a century, the photographic market has been dominated by three big brands. First came Kodak, the granddaddy of them all, founded in Rochester, New York, in 1892. Its yellow, black and red branding is still one of the most recognizable in the world. However, strong competition from Japan's Fujifilm, a relative upstart founded in 1934, put pressure on Kodak in the late 1990s pushing it to the brink of bankruptcy in 2011. Today the brand goes on but the brand is often licensed to third parties producing photographic products for the digital age. The third dominant force in photography was Agfa-Gevaert, a Belgian German company founded in 1867 as a dye manufacturer. The company endured a chequered history, especially during World War II. Like Kodak today, the name is often licensed to several businesses producing digital photography products that want to leverage such a well-known brand. Now the Agfa name is back in the photography business with a trio of fun, new products that could keep the kids happy during the long summer holidays. The first is the new Realkids Cam Waterproof 2. The Realkids Cam Waterproof 2 from Agfa has a 2.8-inch color display and speaker. The camera has a slot for a 128GB microSD card and records images as JPEGs and movies as MOV. There is a selfie mode and a selection of built-in digital filters for adding a little personality to the shots. There are also some games onboard for long car journeys and a speaker for the sound effects. The Agfa Realmove MC3X is a mini gimbal camera for making videos on the move. The next new product to bear the brand is the Agfa Realmove MC3X, a mini gimbal camera for making videos on the move. The MC3X shoots in 4K resolution and has 3-axis stabilization for smooth and handheld shooting. This pocket-sized camera and gimbal delivers pro-quality footage and is suitable for shooting scenic landscapes or action. As well as shooting videos, the camera can also take still images with resolutions of up to 20 megapixels in JPEG format. The lens has a wide 120-degree view and includes Wi-Fi support. Fujifilm's been quiet about

Fujifilm's GFX Eterna cinema camera finally has some specs. its upcoming medium format cinema camera, but it's trickling out just 10 initial features. These include: an optical lowpass filter, available sensor formats, in-camera codecs, custom LUTs, film simulations, film simulation-based 3D LUTs, custom framing guidelines, remote multi-camera control, Bluetooth, and LCD / on-board menu display specs. Much of that sounds typical for any high-end cinema camera, but of course Fujifilm is flexing its film simulation muscles.

Fujifilm Highlights Print Embellishment Capabilities at Amplify Print 2025 and IPMA 2025

HANOVER PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun 4, 2025-- FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Business Innovation Division, today announced that it will be showcasing the range of embellishment-focused capabilities and solutions that its REVORIA PRESS production press series can achieve at Amplify Print 2025 (Booth #4739), June 10-12 in Rosemont, Illinois. Fujifilm will also be appearing at the In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA) Education Conference (Booth #302), June 8-12 in Spokane, Washington. 'In today's competitive and advanced print landscape, the ability to create quality, eye-catching embellishments is critical,' said Yuji Oki, general manager, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Business Innovation Division. 'As industry leaders we're always innovating to bring the best quality solutions to the marketplace. Our full line of CMYK+ enabled products demonstrate firsthand how Fujifilm offers the perfect solutions for the complex print jobs our print service providers see every day. We're excited to demonstrate these capabilities at Amplify Print and IPMA, to show print service providers how they can 'Make More' with Fujifilm.' The REVORIA PRESS™ SC285S (SC285S) will be onsite and running live at Amplify Print 2025. Bringing the high-end capabilities of Fujifilm's flagship REVORIA PRESS™ PC1120 digital press to a mid-range printing press, the SC285S is equipped with a specialty toner station 1 in addition to its four-color toners, enabling five-color printing in one pass. The SC285S and SC285 series presses, with printing speeds of 85 pages per minute, are best suited for quick printing and in-house printing environments. SC285S achieves a compact footprint through Fujifilm's newly developed Vertical Toner Development Technology, which transports developer from bottom to top against gravity, significantly reducing the size of each development unit, and in turn enabling five-color printing without increasing the machine size. These advancements not only help print service providers' bottom lines, but give their customers impressive, attention-grabbing results. As part of the Digital Embellishment track at Amplify Print 2025, Fujifilm's Andrew Gunn, director of product solutions and enablement for the Americas, will be part of a panel discussion entitled ' Driving Demand for 5th and 6th Station Digital Print and Embellishments,' where he will discuss, along with his peers, trends, techniques, and real-world applications of tactile and visual enhancements in print. This panel discussion is scheduled for 9:15AM CT on Wednesday, June 11. The same week, Fujifilm will also be exhibiting at the IPMA conference, where leaders in in-plant printing and mailing will gather to learn the latest industry advancements. 'Our print solutions, especially our REVORIA PRESS™, APEOSPRO, J PRESS, and ACUITY™ series presses, offer a myriad of ways for our in-plant customers to integrate embellishments into their everyday workflows in creative and cost-effective ways,' said Oki. 'We're excited to share our latest developments with IPMA attendees onsite at the event!'
