CBFC denies certification to Yogi Adityanath-inspired film ‘Ajey'; Bombay HC questions logic behind ban
A bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale said it would hear the plea on Friday, but also asked why the CBFC rejected the applications when the novel which inspired the film has been in the public domain for eight years.
If no objection was taken to the book, how could a film inspired by it disturb public order, the court asked, while issuing a notice to the CBFC and seeking its reply.
Advocates Aseem Naphade, Satatya Anand and Nikhil Aradhe, representing film-makers Samrat Cinematics, argued that the CBFC rejected the applications for certification of the film, trailer and its songs without even watching the film.
The makers had approached the HC earlier this month, seeking a direction to the Censor board to decide on their applications. In response, the CBFC assured the court last week that it would take a decision within two days.
Despite the assurance, the board took the decision only now, the makers claimed in their fresh plea.
The film "Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi" is slated for release on August 1. It is inspired by the book "The Monk Who Became Chief Minister," supposedly based on Adityanath's life.

New expressways & airports have put UP on path to rapid eco growth in 8 yrs
1 2 Lucknow: The state, once associated with pothole-ridden roads, crumbling infrastructure and sluggish development, continues to rise as one of the fastest-growing states in the country. Before 2017, the state suffered from a lack of political will and strategic planning. However, a transformative shift began in 2017 under the leadership of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. With strong coordination between the centre and the state, the groundwork for an infrastructure revolution was laid. Before 2017, UP's image was marred by broken roads and stalled projects. The Lucknow-Agra expressway was incomplete, while ambitious projects like the Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Ganga expressways were on the backburner. Villages and small towns were poorly connected to major urban centres, hindering economic activity. Currently, seven expressways are operational across the state, while 15 more are either under construction or proposed. Upon completion of the Ganga expressway, UP alone will account for six out of every 10km of expressway network in the country. Also, UP now has 16 operational airports, including four international airports — Lucknow, Varanasi, Kushinagar and Ayodhya. The Noida International Airport, currently under construction in Jewar, is set to become the largest in the country and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The network of Metro rail services has also expanded and spans across the state. From just Lucknow, two more cities, Kanpur and Agra, can now boast of Metro rail services. The first rapid rail corridor has also been launched between Delhi and Meerut. Additionally, groundwork is underway for Metro networks in several other cities such as Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Bareilly. Simultaneously, development is progressing on inland waterways, including the Varanasi-Haldia. CM to officials: Include views of public reps in action plans
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a detailed review of development works for the Agra division in Agra on Tuesday. He announced that there was no shortage of funds for projects but emphasised the need for proper utilisation of the budget. Interacting with officials and public representatives from Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, and Mainpuri, the CM directed officials to coordinate with public representatives over the finalisation of proposals. He warned against delays in approvals, adding that unspent funds undermined govt's intent. Calling the meeting "a mission to ensure development schemes translate into real outcomes" and not just a routine inspection, the CM also stressed the need to bridge the gap between planning and execution of projects by incorporating ground-level feedback from elected representatives into planning. In his interaction with public representatives, Yogi discussed their challenges, asked about public expectations and development priorities of their respective constituencies. He directed officials to ensure that all their suggestions were incorporated into action plans. During a review of the public works department, the CM issued various directions, asking officials to ensure that proposals for roads, bridges, flyovers, bypasses, and inter-state connectivity submitted by MLAs were incorporated into the work plan. He also called for a large-scale pothole-free road campaign to be launched immediately after the monsoon. The CM reminded officials that roads built by contractors are covered under a guarantee period, and any damage during this time must be repaired by the same contractor. He warned of strict action in cases of negligence and directed departments to prepare fresh proposals for constructing small and large bridges over rivers. Tourism department officials informed the CM that 160 projects worth Rs 590 crore were underway in the division. The CM directed them to ensure that roads leading to major urban and rural temples are developed based on the number of devotees using the roads. In his review of the urban development department, the CM's major focus was on waterlogging. He asked local bodies to come up with effective drainage plans. The Agra police commissioner also gave a presentation on action taken under 'Mission Asmita', focused on tackling illegal religious conversions and crime.
