BJP Takes 'Charitra' Jibe At RJD Over Lalu Prasad's Viral Photo With Ambedkar's Portrait

The BJP and RJD sparred over a viral picture involving Lalu Prasad and Dr BR Ambedkar, accusing each other of insulting the Dalit icon.
The Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal sparred over a viral video of Lalu Prasad concerning the portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar, trading accusations of disrespecting the Dalit icon.
'Yeh chitra nahi, RJD ka charitra hai (this is not a picture, but a character of RJD)," BJP leader Amit Malviya posted on X on Sunday, sharing the image of the incident.

The RJD hit back with a jibe at the BJP, alleging that the saffron party is 'forced to talk about social justice" only because of Lalu Prasad.
This comes after a huge controversy erupted in Bihar, months ahead of the Assembly polls, in which a purported video, recorded during Lalu's 78th birthday celebrations, showed him sitting on a couch with his feet on a nearby sofa and a supporter enters the room carrying Ambedkar's portrait and places it near his feet before greeting him.
The incident drew sharp criticism from the ruling BJP, which accused the Opposition party of insulting Ambedkar.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister demanded accountability from the RJD.
Bihar State Commission for Scheduled Castes also issued a notice to the RJD chief for allegedly disrespecting Ambedkar and gave him 15 days to respond. It warned that failure to reply may lead to legal proceedings.
Responding to the notice, Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, dubbed the move as politically motivated.
'There have been so many cases of atrocities against Dalits that the Commission has ignored. But since we oppose the BJP, we are being subjected to intimidatory tactics," he said.

Reflects Taliban mindset: Sikh leaders slam pro-Khalistan protest ahead of PM Modi's G7 Summit visit
In response to pro-Khalistan protests in Canada, where demonstrators, including children, took to the streets to express their discontent with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attendance at the G7 Summit, several prominent Sikh leaders from India have strongly condemned these actions, labeling them as reflective of a Taliban mindset. Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa expressed grave concern, saying, "Some people have now started using even children for their political agendas. These are just a handful of individuals who have tried every tactic possible, and now they are attempting to influence the minds of young children. "Because of this, Sikhs around the world are being defamed. Sikhs across the globe are being viewed differently. This behaviour reflects the mindset of the Taliban. Sikhs have always followed the path shown by the Gurus, and this act goes completely against their teachings." The visuals of children participating in such protests triggered widespread condemnation. Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, President of the All India Anti-Terrorist Front, warned against such provocative actions. "To those who are throwing stones at the Prime Minister's photo and burning his effigy, those days are gone. The fear you once tried to create is over. He went straight to the place you used to ignite hate from. Do whatever you want, he is standing before you. This stone-pelting, insulting the national flag, all of this has lost its impact now," he said. R.P. Singh, BJP National Spokesperson, emphasised the innocence of the children involved in the protest, saying, "I don't think the children are being brainwashed. Those children probably don't even know whose picture they are acting against. Maybe they also don't realise what PM Modi has done for this country, for Punjab, and for the Sikhs." Voicing similar concerns, Sardar Trilochan Singh, former Secretary of Gurdwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh, said, "These are children from another country being misled, and they are inciting the sentiments of people in India. Their minds have been brainwashed, which is not acceptable from any perspective. The Canadian government must take this issue seriously. It is wrong to defame Prime Minister Modi in this manner, a leader who is working tirelessly for Sikhs, the nation, and the world..." Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib Secretary Harbans Singh also reacted with disapproval. "It was very shocking to see and hear. We do not support what happened. Today what PM Modi is doing, he is setting an example with his leadership," he said.

PM Modi's 11 years in office have been transformative: Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said on Monday that the 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance have been truly transformative. 'These years symbolise trust, development, confidence, and social upliftment. This golden period is steering India towards becoming a global leader,' he said after the opening of an exhibition showcasing the Modi government's 11 years and the Delhi government's achievements in 100 days. Sachdeva said the exhibition showcases how a government can gain the trust of the public and instil confidence in development in just 100 days. The exhibition will be taken to every district and division to reach the wider public in Delhi, he said. Earlier, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta remarked that both the 11 years of the Central Government and the 100 days of the Delhi Government reflect the achievements of the 'double engine' government. She expressed disappointment that the previous Delhi government did not give due credit to the Centre's efforts. She noted that Rs 1.25 lakh crore was provided for roadways, and the Centre also supported landfill site projects. She said that 'development in Delhi will now move at double speed. Whether it's air pollution, water, electricity, the Yamuna, or roads — work is progressing across all sectors'. The exhibition was inaugurated by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the presence of CM Gupta and Delhi BJP President Sachdeva. Puri said, 'Despite the current global situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's success in elevating India's economy to the fourth position globally is a remarkable achievement in itself.' He said Delhi now has a government with a purpose, committed to serving its people. The targets set by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's government will prove to be significant achievements for Delhiites in the coming days, he said. Puri highlighted that in the past 11 years, the Modi government has implemented several public welfare schemes, which are widely known. The exhibition reflects all these accomplishments. He expressed his pleasure over Delhi's adoption of electric buses and hoped that, alongside electric vehicles, progress towards hydrogen energy will accelerate. He appreciated the current government's focus on cleaning the Yamuna and addressing landfill issues, noting that significant work is being done to reduce pollution, and visible results will be seen soon.
