'So, I've always wanted to try and do something to give back and I had the idea for a while and just as I started to put it all together that's when the vandalism happened.'

Last month, Gwent Police confirmed three separate incidents of vandalism at The Owl Sanctuary in the Festival Park in Ebbw Vale.
One of the incidents resulted in the toilets at the sanctuary being completely destroyed.
Since then, public donations have been flying in.

On May 19 his first "owl ink" customer opted for a Barn Owl themed tattoo.
Harry says he hopes to raise at least £1,000 with his "owl ink".

Prince Philip's 'four brutal words' to Queen at Harry and Meghan's wedding

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Prince Philip didn't mince his words following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials, a fresh publication has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot in a lavish affair at Windsor Castle in May 2018, witnessed by the entire Royal Family, including the late monarch and her consort. The service at St George's Chapel featured all the traditional elements of a Royal ceremony, enhanced by a gospel choir's rendition of Stand By Me and Bishop Michael Curry's lengthy 14-minute address. Following the conclusion of the service, the newly-married couple embarked on a carriage procession through Windsor whilst the remaining royals departed the chapel to make their way to the castle for an official reception. Former Royal butler Grant Harrold claims that as they exited the church, Harry's grandfather Philip remarked to the Queen: "Thank f*** that's over", reports the Mirror. His assertion appears in his forthcoming publication, due for release later this month. Harrold served King Charles at his Highgrove residence for seven years spanning 2004 to 2011. During the wedding day, Harrold had been offering commentary for a television network before meeting up with his partner, Jack Stooks, who had received an invitation to observe the Royal party's departure from the chapel and brought the former Royal employee as his companion. The Telegraph reports that in his upcoming memoir, titled The Royal Butler: My remarkable life of Royal Service, he documents: "Once all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the Royal family, filed out of the chapel. "When Prince Philip came out, he turned to the Queen and said, 'Thank f*** that's over.'". In the lead-up to Harry and Meghan's nuptials, the former Duke of Edinburgh underwent a hip replacement operation. It was reported at the time that he was adamant about not missing their special day and set himself the goal of being mobile by then. Meanwhile, during his tenure at Highgrove, Harrold became acquainted with both Princes William and Harry, who were in their late teens and early 20s. (Image: 2015 Max Mumby/Indigo) (Image: Getty Images) In a fresh interview, the ex-butler also discloses that he first met Harry when he was 19, with their initial encounter occurring when Harry struck him with a water balloon during a playful skirmish. He recounts that they even shared a takeaway before the Duke of Sussex departed for Sandhurst Military Academy. Harrold's stint at Highgrove also overlapped with the period when Charles and Camilla announced their engagement and subsequently tied the knot. In his explosive memoir Spare, Harry revealed how he and his now estranged brother William pleaded with their father not to wed his current wife. He wrote: "We support you, we said. We endorse Camilla, we said. 'Just please don't marry her. Just be together, Pa.' He didn't answer. But she answered. Straight what he witnessed was a stark contrast to what Harry penned in his memoir. He told The Telegraph: "The four of them, I promise you, got on so well. And that's why I don't understand what Harry's said, I really don't understand. "We support you, we said. We endorse Camilla, we said. 'Just please don't marry her. Just be together, Pa.' He didn't answer. But she answered. Straight he says what he saw was a far cry from what Harry wrote in his memoir. He told The Telegraph: "Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together. "He also remembers witnessing "no animosity" amongst the royals, adding: "The King used to do things to make them [William and Harry] laugh and giggle."

Whereabouts of missing Coronation Street character ahead of star's re-cast

A young Coronation Street actor has departed the show, meaning another new face will soon join the cast. Carter-J Murphy joined the ITV soap as Harry Platt towards the end of last year. The character was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and villain Callum Logan. Callum was killed by Kylie Platt before Harry was born, and his body was buried underneath the annex at No.8. After Harry's birth, the body was discovered, and Sarah was hospitalised for postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive. Carter-J has only played the role for a handful of episodes, as an amazing opportunity has seen the young star depart the show. It's said the actor has been cast in Matilda the Musical and due to the fact he couldn't juggle the tour and filming for Corrie, he has left. Prior to Carter-J playing Harry, twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes portrayed the role. Also according to The Sun, an actor called Josh has taken over the role, with his first scenes expected to air within the coming weeks. Carter-J made his screen debut in 2024 in the new Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the singer himself. Harry's absence, due to the recast, was referenced on screen last night, with Sarah revealing that she'd sent him to holiday club. Harry was apparently unhappy with this arrangement, as all of his other friends have been on family holidays. Another Platt family member was recast earlier this year, with a star called Grace Ashcroft-Gardner taking over the role as Lily Platt. The actress made her debut in a dramatic episode that saw Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) escape prison and storm Weatherfield High School in search of his daughter Joanie Michaelis (Savannah Pennington). As students realised what was going on, they went in search of safety in locked classrooms. Lily's cousin, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), ran through the corridor and arrived at the door Lily was on the other side of. Sam banged the door, desperate for Lily to open it but she was consumed with fear, meaning she completely froze. In the aftermath of this, Sam struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. The ordeal also reminded him of how his mother Natasha died. In 2022, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) escaped from prison and went in search of revenge on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). He pulled the trigger on a gun, believing he was shooting Leanne, but realised moments later that it wasn't her. Sam's mum Natasha later died in hospital. Newcomer Grace has taken over the role from young actress Brooke Malonie, who had played Lily since 2016. Taking to Instagram last month, Grace shared her excitement at joining the ITV soap. Alongside several behind-the-scenes pictures, she wrote: 'I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt!' She went on to thank her management saying: 'It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough!). More Trending 'The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles,' she continued, before urging her followers to watch her first episodes. Lily is David Platt's only daughter, who he shared with Kylie Platt before she was tragically murdered in emotional scenes. View More » This article was originally published August 14, 2025. 'Netflix show's twisted ending left me in mourning after I watched it 20 years too late'

Social News reporter Jess Flaherty recently started watching a smash hit crime show which first aired in the mid 00s but the huge twist at the end of one episode was tough viewing Recently, I've started binge-watching the original series of Dexter, and the ending of one particular episode has left me in a state of grief. Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic, but it did shatter me. Any Dexter fans likely knows what I'm referring to, but if you're yet to watch the show and want to avoid any spoilers, look away now. ‌ Consider yourself warned. Obviously, I'm referring to the shocking twist in the season four finale episode, The Getaway. Dexter, which originally aired from 2006 to 2013, chronicles the life of Dexter Morgan, a serial killer with a moral compass, who works as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department by day, maintaining his "normal" persona while satisfying his urge to kill by night. ‌ Dexter, played by Michael C Hall, is led to believe he's a sociopath and a "monster" by his adoptive father, police officer Harry Morgan, who discovered him as a three-year-old child, sitting in a pool of his mother's blood after she was brutally murdered in front of him. ‌ Harry notices Dexter's violent tendencies and emotional detachment and, instead of seeking professional psychological help for his clearly traumatised son, he teaches him "the code". Dexter harbours a desire to kill, but only those who fit Harry's code - they must be murderers themselves. Over the years, he carries out ritualistic killings of numerous violent criminals who seem to have slipped through the justice system's net. As the series unfolds, Dexter's actions continue to catch up with him - to devastating effect. In some cases, he even sabotages evidence to let culprits slip through the law's grasp, just so he can savour the thrill of killing them himself. This is most evident in season four, where we're introduced to Arthur 'the Trinity Killer' Mitchell, portrayed by the brilliantly terrifying John Lithgow. His performance was so compelling that he bagged a Golden Globe award for his role as the chilling serial killer. Now, given the show has been around for years, some spoilers are inevitable - I'm bracing myself for the much-maligned ending, and I already knew that the main antagonist in the first season was Dexter's long-lost brother. ‌ But what season four had in store for viewers took me completely by surprise. By this stage in the series, Dexter is married to Rita - brought to life with a delightful blend of sweetness and charm by the talented Julie Benz. Initially, Dexter was attracted to Rita to help maintain his façade of being a "nice, normal guy", but as the story progresses, it becomes clear he genuinely cares for her. I adored Rita and hoped her influence on Dexter would have a positive effect on him. ‌ However, Dexter's fixation with the Trinity Killer led to her downfall. After a tense game of cat-and-mouse, during which Dexter adopts a false identity to get close to Arthur Mitchell and his family, things begin to fall apart. Mitchell soon realises Dexter isn't who he claims to be and tracks him down. The Trinity Killer visits him at the police station, where he casually peruses photos of his own violent crime scenes without a care in the world. ‌ Dexter sends Rita and their son away on a belated honeymoon to ensure she's safe from the sadistic killer. After some serious tension, Dexter seemingly prevails - he traps Arthur Mitchell on his trusty table and kills him, tossing his hacked up body parts into the ocean. ‌ We've seen this scene before - Dexter is nothing if not consistent when it comes to how he completes his crimes. When he returns home, he discovers a voicemail message from Rita saying she forgot her passport so had to return home to get it. He calls her, but her phone rings in their house. Dexter walks into the bathroom and there, in a harrowing full circle moment, is his son sitting in a pool of his mother's blood. ‌ Rita is laying dead in the bathtub, the water crimson - one of the Trinity Killer's trademarks. I was hysterical. The show did an excellent job of convincing us Dexter had won and got the better of the Trinity Killer. As the show is years old, I have nobody to talk to about this gut punch of a twist so I scoured social media and saw it's still a widely discussed episode to this day. I know it's not an episode I'll ever forget, no matter what direction the show - and its subsequent spin-offs - takes from here.
