steal votes, stepping up his attack on "vote chori" on a day he led the joint opposition in writing to Lok Sabha Speaker demanding an immediate discussion on the review of electoral rolls in Bihar.
The opposition told Speaker that the issue has a direct bearing on the "right to vote" and "conduct of free and fair elections", and merits an urgent debate.
Talking about Congress' probe, likely about voters' list for Bangalore Rural LS seat, Rahul told reporters, "What we found is atom bomb; I mean EC will be blown away when that atom bomb explodes". The opposition's letter to Om Birla - signed by Congress, DMK, NCP-SP, RSP, SS-UBT, SP, TMC and RJD - expressed serious concern over the Bihar poll roll revision being done just before elections.
It said EC has also announced the exercise will be done nationally, despite apprehensions about "transparency, timing and intent of process".
The letter said the opposition had on several occasions listed a discussion on SIR as a priority, but the Modi govt has not notified a date yet.
As he doubled down on his allegations, Rahul warned that officials involved in the "theft" will not be spared. "...because you are working against India, which is treason.

The Commission's message comes as it carries out a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, ahead of state assembly elections due later this year. The drive, which saw a 99.8 per cent participation, collected around 7.24 crore registration forms. The revision led to the removal of approximately 65.6 lakh names from the rolls, mainly classified as dead, duplicate, migrated, or untraceable, leaving 7.24 crore electors in the draft list released on August 1. Opposition parties have slammed the exclusion of Aadhaar, Voter ID (EPIC), and ration cards as valid documents in the voter roll revision process. The Supreme Court is currently hearing the case and has warned it will intervene if it detects large-scale removal of eligible voters. Earlier, the Court directed the Election Commission to accept these commonly used IDs during the SIR. Coming back to the match, the fifth Test match delivered high drama as England, chasing a formidable target of 374, were in cruise control mode. Cong MLA to join AGP before '26 polls
1 2 Silchar: In a significant development ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, Congress MLA from Karimganj South and former minister Siddeque Ahmed has announced his decision to join the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a member of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Ahmed said he held discussions with senior AGP leaders, including party president Atul Bora. "I have talked to the AGP leadership and finalised my decision to join the party. The Congress has no future in Assam under the current leadership," Ahmed added. Congress had suspended its Ahmed from the primary membership of the party in Apr, 2022 after he deliberately disobeyed the three-line whip issued by the party for the Rajya Sabha poll. A four-time MLA (one each from Samata Party and as Independent and two times as Congress) from the minority-dominated constituency, Ahmed has been a prominent face of Congress in the Barak Valley. He had earlier served as a cabinet minister in the Tarun Gogoi-led govt. Since his suspension from the party, Ahmed publicly criticised the functioning of the Congress in the state, but had not formally indicated any plans of switching allegiance — until now. Taking a swipe at Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi, Ahmed said, "Congress under Gaurav Gogoi can't win the next Assembly elections. The party's performance in the last panchayat polls was a disaster. People have lost faith in the party." He added that several of his supporters and grassroots workers from Sribhumi district would also join the AGP in the coming days. "The AGP still commands respect among the people of Assam. My supporters and I will strengthen the NDA to ensure stability and development in the state," he the AGP leadership has not officially confirmed the date of Ahmed's induction, party insiders indicated that a formal joining ceremony may take place in Guwahati later this month. Ahmed's defection is being seen as a blow to the Congress in Barak Valley, a region where the party has traditionally held influence. With this move, the AGP also hopes to expand its footprint in the Bengali-speaking areas of southern Assam.

Bengaluru: Opposition BJP Monday accused Congress of distorting Karnataka's history and disrespecting the legacy of the erstwhile Mysore royal family, especially Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, over recent remarks crediting Tipu Sultan with laying the foundation for Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam. The controversy erupted when social welfare minister HC Mahadevappa, in charge of Mysuru district, during an event in Srirangapatna Sunday, said, "Tipu Sultan was the first to conceptualise the dam and laid the foundation stone, but nobody has the courage to say this. BR Ambedkar has said that those who don't know history cannot create history." Reacting strongly, BJP state president BY Vijayendra accused Congress of trying to rewrite well-documented history. In a post, he said, "Tipu died in 1799, while the dam was planned more than a century later in 1908."
