Is Saquon Barkley retiring? The Philadelphia Eagles' running back's eerie remarks leaves fans questioning
Saquon Barkley's recent comments about a sudden retirement sparked a frenzy (Image via AP)
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley may have sparked a social media frenzy with his recent comments about retirement, but those closest to him aren't hitting the panic button just yet.
In fact, two of his Eagles teammates—Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship—believe the media and fans are reading too much into a casual reflection from the star rusher.
Saquon Barkley
says retirement could come 'out of nowhere' like Barry Sanders
Saquon Barkley's comments came during an appearance on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, where he shared how he envisions stepping away from football someday.

'I'll probably be one of those guys that it'll be out of nowhere,' Barkley said. 'I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years, and just be like, 'Yeah it's over.'
I don't think I will ever lose that passion. I'm just a competitor... One of my favorite players of all time, probably my favorite player of all time, is Barry Sanders, so probably similar to that. Maybe one day it will be out of nowhere.
I'll probably be balling and just be like, yeah, and call it quits.'
While the internet erupted with theories suggesting Barkley might be planning an imminent departure from the game, the full context of his remarks paints a different picture.

At 28, Barkley is still in his prime, and his passion for the game remains evident.
Teammates say saq7Barkley's not leaving anytime soon
During an episode of the Exciting Mics podcast, Eagles defenders Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship weighed in on the sudden buzz and offered their take—based on daily experience with Barkley himself.
'Our teammate, Saquon Barkley, said that he'll likely be one of those guys to retire out of nowhere,' DeJean said. 'I just saw that,' Blankenship replied.
'A lot of guys honestly say that, though. I think (Darius Slay) has said that before. You know (Brandon Graham), people like that. I mean, if it's over, it's over.'
'I don't think it's anytime soon,' DeJean added. 'No, no, I don't think so either,' Blankenship concluded. 'He's in a great position where if he was, he's put his time in, man.'

Despite the brief media storm, it's clear that Barkley's comments were more about taking control of his exit on his own terms than hinting at any immediate plans to retire. And with teammates reassuring fans that the running back is as engaged and committed as ever, Eagles Nation can breathe a little easier—for now.

Ronald Acuna Jr.'s wife Maria captures priceless game day moment with their son at Truist Parl
Image Source: Getty It was a relatively quiet week, but one of the week's most wholesome moments on social media came through Maria Laborde, the wife of Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr., who posted a short video of the couple's youngest son watching a baseball at Truist Park. In the Instagram Story, their son can be seen perched in the stands, riveted by the on-field action, dressed up in a navy blue 'Slam Dunk District' t-shirt — an adorable nod to his early, developing passion for sports. Ronald Acuna Jr . enjoys game day with Maria and his son at Truist Park Ronald Acuña Jr., who already delivered plenty of big moments on the field in his return from a painful knee injury and the Braves' run toward contention, had another when he streaked around the bases in the 10th inning. But it was this one — courtesy of Acuña's son — that lit up social media. I also saw the family in the stands enjoying what looked like a lovely afternoon at the ballpark. Fans nearby were excited to see the Acuña family enjoying the game-day vibe in the section. One of those glimpses was Maria Laborde's post, showing their son watching curiously and excitedly talking during the game. With the pressures and bright lights of the big leagues looming over Acuña as he embarks on his MLB career, the clip gives us a glimpse into family time. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Преносими лазерни заваръчни пистолети, 50% отстъпка LYH Купете сега Undo As it turns out, being a dad is just as rewarding as hitting a home run for many players, and that fact has been documented time and again.
