US-Israeli humanitarian foundation a death mechanism for Palestinians: Egypt FM

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty described the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) as 'a mechanism of death' for starving Palestinians who line up every day to receive food from its four designated distribution sites.
Abdelatty made his remarks during his visit to the US after participating in the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, co-organized by France and Saudi Arabia.
The foreign minister also accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war, describing the famine in Gaza as "beyond imagination."
The GHF began operations on 26 May after Israel had blocked all aid supplies from entering the Gaza Strip for over two months, which sparked global warnings of imminent famine.
Since then, Israeli troops have repeatedly opened fire on Palestinians gathering near GHF aid sites. The UN said these violations, along with Israeli attacks on humanitarian convoys, have resulted in hundreds of deaths.
In exclusive statements to Al Arabiya and Al Hadath news channels, Abdelatty said efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza are hampered by the lack of political will from both parties, especially Israel.
FM Abdelatty reiterated that the displacement of Palestinians is a red line for both Egypt and Jordan, as it reflects a plan to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
He also affirmed that Cairo has "a clear and comprehensive plan for security arrangements and governance of the Gaza Strip after the end of the war."
"Egypt is training hundreds of Palestinians to take on security duties in Gaza," he pointed out.
He said Egypt is pressing with 'full force' to succeed in the negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza, revealing that "Cairo is in daily contacts with the United States and Qatar."
The conference on Gaza
A statement by the high-level international conference on Gaza urged "ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution."
It emphasized the importance of recognizing the State of Palestine and granting it full membership in the United Nations.
The statement added that peaceful coexistence between the peoples and countries of the region cannot be achieved except by ending the war in Gaza, releasing all captives, ending the occupation, renouncing violence and terrorism, establishing an independent, sovereign, and democratic Palestinian state, ending the occupation of all Arab lands, and providing strong security guarantees for both Israel and Palestine.
"War, occupation, and displacement cannot achieve peace," it added, affirming that "the two-state solution is the way to meet the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians."
