Kate's 5 fun things to do in and around Waterloo region: Feb. 7 to 9

CBC07-02-2025

Expect a weekend with snow and cooler temperatures but maybe — just maybe — a little sunshine on Sunday.
The Kitchener Rangers are home Friday night to the Owen Sound Attack, then hit the road to take on the Niagara Ice Dogs Saturday night.
The Guelph Storm host the North Bay Battalion on Friday night, then also host the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday.
The K-W Titans have a home game Saturday night. They'll host the Glass City Wranglers at 7 p.m. and this game has a special Black History Month theme.
If you need to drive this weekend, here are some local gas prices:
Forever Love
Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Elmira Theatre, 60 Arthur St. S., Elmira
Local playwright Michael Grant will see his story about the relationship of Kyle and Max brought to the stage for the first time. It's the story of a relationship, starting from their first high school dance in the 1980s. Does their love stand the test of time?
If you can't make it this weekend, the play runs until Feb. 16.
Elmira Theatre website
Super Bowl Tailgate
Sunday 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The Gaslight District, Cambridge
Go Eagles! Go Chiefs! Or maybe you're just hoping to see Taylor Swift.
Whether you're cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFL's biggest prize — or if you're just there for the snacks — join others to watch the big game on a really big outdoor screen.
Dress for the weather and be sure to bring food, beverages, music, decorations or buy items from the local businesses.
Valentines Gay Market
Friday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
44 Gaukel St., Kitchener
This indoor market will include 30 queer vendors. There will also be flash tattoos from Ink Den and tarot readings.
Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Royal Canadian Legion, 57 Parkway S., Guelph
There will be more than 30 authors, publishers, crafters and makers at this market.
The music continues in downtown Guelph with Animal Party at Royal Electric Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday at 2 p.m., Dr. Mike and The Night Nurses with Daddy Scarface will be a celebration of Bob Marley's 80th birthday. This show is also at Royal Electric.
Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Bingemans, Kitchener
There will be up to 200 vendors with items from comics to video games, Funko Pop Vinyls to Lego, action figures, super heroes, model cars, posters, coins, cards and more collectibles. Sport and non-sport care grading will also be available on site.

Saying goodbye to Weather Will

Will Aiello at the Stratford Festival. CTV News Kitchener is saying goodbye to weather specialist Will Aiello as he prepares to embark on a new journey with CTV Morning Live. Will said he is moving back to his hometown to be closer to family and take on his 'dream job.' However, the decision was not an easy one to make. 'Leaving the CTV Kitchener team will be very difficult but their support with the new opportunity has made it feel much better,' he shared. 'Thank you to everyone for allowing me to be myself and spread so much energy and positivity into this wonderful community.' To celebrate our time with Will, we are sharing some of our favourite moments with 'Weather Will.' He hosted Oktoberfest activities, got his hands dirty in weekly Get Growing segments, and made our tastebuds tingle with Get Grilling. Here are some memories we will cherish, long after Will has changed his alarms to his new 1 a.m. wakeup call. Expand Autoplay 1 of 37 Will Aiello Will Aiello on his first day with CTV News Kitchener.
