Best sights and sounds from the first day of Panthers' 2025 OTAs
Known more commonly as OTAs, these voluntary, non-contact workouts serve as an appetizer of sorts for the heavier tasks ahead. Tuesday marked the first of six sessions of OTAs, with the bookend of this phase coming next week on June 5.

But how did the team start off? Well, head coach Dave Canales seemed rather upbeat about the effort.
"What a great day," Canales said in opening up his post-practice presser. "We've been building and working out and training for this, to get back on the field and just get this thing started. Going against offense versus defense and being able to fly around in there. Of course, with the time of year that it is, the guys gotta be able to work full-speed and be able to take care of each other, and I felt like we did that today. So, really exciting stuff."
Oh, and luckily, team reps and beat reporters were on hand to document some of that really exciting stuff.
Here are the best sights and sounds from the Panthers' first installment of 2025 OTAs . . .

Shedeur Sanders confronts reporter after NFL preseason debut vs. Panthers
Shedeur Sanders had time on Friday night – some of it in the pocket, but maybe more of it after the game. In the wake of Sanders' positive debut vs. the Carolina Panthers, the rookie quarterback caught up with Cleveland-based reporter and radio personality Tony Grossi. Sanders appeared to take issue with Grossi's negative slant towards him. In the tunnels of Bank of America Stadium, Sanders addressed Grossi directly, and called out his coverage. And he did it with a smile on: "Tony, I be hoping you have something positive to say about me," Sanders tells Grossi in the video (via Well Off Media). "You only say negative stuff about me. And I'm like, 'I ain't do nothing to you.'" "Come on, what I do? What'd I do to you, Tony?" Sanders kept a smile on throughout the short-lived conversation and he and the reporter shared a little bit of a laugh before the passer headed into the locker room. It's not the first time that Sanders has confronted a perceived detractor in a public setting. In 2024, the then-Colorado Buffaloes quarterback caught up with Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and refused to shake his hand following a 43-35 Colorado victory. Sanders finished 14-of-23 passing with 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Browns win. He played almost three entire quarters and showcased skill that led some draft analysts to believe he should have been a Day 1 selection. With more performances like he had on Friday night, Sanders may find himself speaking with plenty more critics in the coming weeks, months or years. Panthers' Tkachuk says he's undecided on whether to have surgery to address last season's injuries
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk said he is still undecided whether to get surgery this offseason to address the significant injuries he suffered in the 4 Nations Face-Off earlier this year. Tkachuk told ESPN in a story posted Friday that while he's hoping to return to the ice soon after playing the Stanley Cup playoffs with a torn adductor muscle and a sports hernia injury, he could miss a couple months if he has surgery. 'If I do get the surgery, it'll definitely be the first two or maybe three months if that's the case,' Tkachuk told the sports network. 'But it's still undecided at this point.' After the Panthers won their second straight Stanley Cup in June, Tkachuk revealed that he had sustained the injuries while playing for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off in February. He missed the final 25 games of the NHL regular season but returned for Game 1 of the Panthers' first-round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. 'He was a mess,' coach Paul Maurice said in June, adding the team wasn't even sure if Tkachuk would make it through the first round because of the injuries. Tkachuk had 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) in 23 playoff games, including seven points in the final round against Edmonton. Tkachuk said after the season that he was 50/50 on if he would have surgery. 'I don't know if it'll be a normal summer or not,' he said in June. 'I hope so. ... I have a few weeks here where I can figure it out.' The Panthers begin the regular season at home against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct 7.

Browns Twitter reacts to Shedeur Sanders' stellar debut vs. Panthers
The Cleveland Browns' much-anticipated preseason opener has wrapped up, and they were able to overcome a slow start to walk away with a comfortable 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. The big storyline heading into Friday night was the debut of rookie fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders, and the quarterback's first snaps are drawing acclaim across the spectrum. With more eyes than usual on a Browns preseason game, many viewers — fans, former NFL stars, and other faces in sports — had plenty to say about the team's preseason opener and the electric debut of Sanders. How fans reacted to Friday's win While Sanders was the focus of much of the discourse surrounding the Browns' win over the Panthers, he wasn't the only Brown to make their first appearance on Friday. Rookies like Mason Graham, Carson Schwesinger, and Dylan Sampson also made their NFL debuts against the Panthers, and there were several other standouts on both sides of the ball. Rookie receivers Luke Floriea and Gage Larvadain had impressive showings, while fellow rookie Adin Huntington was a popular man among fans for his efforts on Friday night. Let's take a look at what fans were saying about the Browns' win: What current and former NFL players were watching Browns' undrafted rookie wide receiver Kaden Davis got a shoutout from Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Jourdan Lewis after his two-touchdown night, while some former NFL stars also had their eyes on the Browns' rookie quarterback (including a certain Hall-of-Famer who happens to also be his father): Other notable faces in sports chime in As previously mentioned, Friday night's game was under a much bigger spotlight than most preseason games typically are, so we've even got reactions from stars in other sports like Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley, and, of course, Cleveland legend LeBron James: This article originally appeared on Browns Wire: Browns Twitter reacts to Shedeur Sanders' stellar debut vs. Panthers
