A block primary education officer (BPEO) from Punjab's Moga district was suspended Tuesday after a video showing him dancing with his wife inside his office went viral on social media.
The Punjab government identified the officer as Devi Prasad, posted in the Baghapurana sub-division. In a statement, the education department said Prasad was suspended 'for his misconduct in viral video,' with the action taken by education secretary Anindita Mitra after minister Harjot Singh Bains intervened.

'Strict action will be taken against any official found violating rules or failing in their duties,' Bains said.
Moga deputy commissioner Sagar Setia said a showcause notice was issued to Prasad as soon as the video surfaced. The one-minute clip, later shared widely online, shows the officer and his wife performing to the Bollywood song 'Tum roothi raho, main manata rahun, ki inn adaayon pe aur pyaar aata hai.'
According to a senior Moga education department official, Prasad told authorities that the video was filmed in July while he was on election duty. He claimed he had spent a few hours in his office with his family, during which the clip was shot 'for entertainment purposes only.' He added that his wife runs a YouTube channel and the video had been uploaded there by their children before it was picked up and circulated on social media.
'We are still waiting for his written reply to the showcause notice, which is expected on Wednesday,' the official said.

Historic handshake, warm smiles and a ride together in ‘The Beast': What happened when Trump met Putin

The summit meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is underway at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. Wearing a dark suit, white shirt and red tie, US President Donald Trump descended the stairs from Air Force One at 11:08am local time, and he walked along a red carpet. He stopped and, as Russian President Vladimir Putin approached, applauded him before offering a handshake and a tap on the arm. Putin appeared to make a joke, prompting smiles from both leaders. They walked together toward a platform marked 'Alaska 2025,'where again the two leaders exchanged a handshake, posed for photographs; but as reporters shouted questions at Putin about a ceasefire and civilian casualties, the Russian president shrugged as if indicating he couldn't hear them. American military aircraft—including fighter jets and what appeared to be a B-2 stealth bomber—thundered overhead. Security features remain classified, but a report by NBC, suggests the vehicle has night-vision, tear gas launchers, electrified door handles, 3-inch-thick windows, and 8-inch armor plating—making it one of the most secure vehicles in the world.

Independence Day 2025: Special Beating Retreat Ceremony At Attari-Wagah Border Draws Huge Crowd

As India celebrates its 79th Independence Day today on August 15, 2025, the patriotic fervor will extend beyond Delhi to the Attari-Wagah border, where a special Beating Retreat Ceremony is set to take place. The event, held every evening, takes on added significance on Independence Day, attracting thousands of spectators to witness the vibrant display of discipline, pride, and tradition. The celebrations began in Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the National Flag and addressed the nation from the Red Fort. Meanwhile, in Punjab, preparations are in full swing for the evening's ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border, just 30 km from Amritsar. Though the lowering of the flag ceremony is a daily ritual between India and Pakistan, the Independence Day edition is especially charged with emotion. The event lasts for about an hour and begins with an energetic parade by the soldiers of the Border Security Force (BSF) from India and the Pakistani Rangers. In the evening, the iron gates between the two nations are opened, the national flags are lowered simultaneously, folded with respect, and handed over to the respective forces. In a symbolic gesture of peace, soldiers from both sides shake hands before the gates close. The ceremony concludes with colourful lights illuminating the border, as the crowd erupts in cheers and applause. This ceremonial tradition, which started in 1959 as a mark of cooperation between India and Pakistan, has been a major tourist attraction since then. On Independence Day, the number of visitors are more, with people arriving from across the country to experience the Patriotic atmosphere. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony is broadcasted live on television channels and streamed on official YouTube platforms, allowing audiences across India and abroad to join in the celebration virtually. With the combination of military precision, national pride, and the spirit of unity, the Independence Day Beating Retreat at Attari-Wagah stands as a powerful reminder of India's journey over the past 79 years and the unwavering spirit of its people.
