The CBI has filed a chargesheet against former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satyapal Malik and five others in connection with alleged corruption in the award of Rs 2,200-crore civil works for Kiru hydropower project, officials said Thursday. The agency has submitted its findings after three years of probe before a special court naming Malik and five others as accused.In a message on 'X' on Thursday, Malik said he was admitted in the hospital and not in a condition to talk to anyone.The former governor said he was getting calls from many well-wishers which he was unable to take.The CBI had conducted searches at the premises of Malik and others in connection with the case in February last year.In a statement after the registration of the FIR in 2022, the CBI had said the case pertains to the alleged malpractices in the award of the contract worth about Rs 2,200 crore of civil works of the Kiru Hydro Electric Power (HEP) Project to a private company in 2019.Malik, who was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir from August 23, 2018 to October 30, 2019, had claimed that he was offered a Rs 300-crore bribe for clearing two files, including the one pertaining to the project.He had denied allegations of corruption against him after the agency conducted search operation last year.Malik said his residence was raided by the CBI instead of investigating the people he had complained about and who were involved in corruption."They will not get anything except 4-5 kurtas and pyjamas. The dictator is trying to scare me by misusing government agencies. I am a farmer's son, I will neither be afraid nor bow down," he had posted online.The central agency has booked Navin Kumar Choudhary, the then chairman of the Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited (CVPPPL), and other officials including M S Babu, M K Mittal and Arun Kumar Mishra, besides construction firm Patel Engineering Limited "Though a decision was taken in the 47th board meeting of CVPPPL for re-tender through e-tendering with a reverse auction after the cancellation of the ongoing tendering process, the same was not implemented (according to the decision taken in the 48th board meeting) and the tender was finally awarded to Patel Engineering Limited," the FIR has alleged.

Ladli Behna aid to be hiked on Rakshabandhan: CM
Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav has announced that the monthly assistance under the Ladli Behna Yojana will be increased on the occasion of Rakshabandhan , with a long-term goal of raising it to Rs 3,000 over the next five years. At present, beneficiaries receive Rs 1,250 per month. Addressing a public gathering in Jabalpur district on Saturday, Yadav also announced a Rs 1,400 crore irrigation project, the Gomukh reservoir, which will benefit over 25,000 farmers across Jabalpur and Mandla districts. The project will bring irrigation to nearly 15,000 hectares in Jabalpur and 10,000 hectares in Mandla. Yadav said the reservoir will enable irrigation of 14,900 hectares in Jabalpur district and 10,100 hectares in Mandla district. He added that the tribal region is being gifted with institutions like the Sandipani School and the ITI, which shall play a transformative role in the lives of students and help shape a brighter future for them. He noted that two Sandipani schools (earlier known as CM Rise school) from Madhya Pradesh have been recognised on the global stage: Vinoba CM Rise School of Ratlam was declared the winner in the 'Innovation' category of the World's Best School Prize 2024, and the CM Rise Higher Secondary School in Jhabua was selected in the "Supporting Healthy Life" category. The London-based T4 Education organisation ranked these schools among the world's best. He added that government school students have outperformed private school students in this year's Class 10 and 12 board exams. Chief minister Yadav paid tribute to Rani Durgavati of the Gondwana community, highlighting her valor and administrative acumen. Diversification, policy reforms aid Odisha's industrial progress: CM
1 2 3 4 Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the BJP govt's one-year anniversary, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said that Odisha is becoming a "diversified industrial powerhouse" and a top investment destination in the country by not just approving investments worth Rs 4.5 lakh crore but also successfully grounding projects worth Rs 1.78 lakh crore. "Odisha is no longer just a minerals and metals hub. We are becoming a diversified industrial powerhouse, where opportunity flows from port to plant, and from cities to every aspirational district," the CM said during a meeting with leading industrialists and entrepreneurs in the city. "We are not merely sanctioning projects; we are grounding them. We are not making promises; we are delivering results — at scale, with speed, and with purpose," Majhi said. Mapping the industrial growth story, he said, "In just one year, we approved over 200 large and mega projects. Odisha now stands for credibility, competitiveness and commitment to progress." The CM said industries are diversifying from minerals and metals to green energy, agro-processing, technical textiles and shipbuilding, with investments flowing into 20 sectors. IAS officer caught while ‘accepting bribe' of Rs 10 lakh in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Jun 8 (PTI) The Odisha Vigilance Department on Sunday caught an IAS officer allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a businessman, an official release said. Raids are underway at his official residence, from where Rs 47 lakh cash has already been recovered, it said.
