‘Proud moment': Sadanandan Master pledges to work for 'Viksit Kerala' after Rajya Sabha nomination
Master, who has decades of grassroots service in Kerala, said that the political climate under the ruling Left government has been challenging for BJP workers. He vowed to improve their lives and boost their morale.
"This is a proud moment because the party has shown its confidence and trust in me. This is very important in the context of Kerala politics. The party is now promoting the idea of Viksit Kerala and Viksit Bharat. To help realise this vision, I must work even harder," he said.

"In Kerala, we have faced many atrocities from political opponents, especially in the Kannur district. Many karyakartas have sacrificed their lives for the party. Their families are suffering today. It is my duty to uplift them and restore their confidence," he added.
Master, along with Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Deorao Nikam, former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and historian Meenakshi Jain, was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the President of India, recognising excellence in public service and scholarship.
These nominations were made under the powers conferred by Article 80(1)(a) of the Constitution, read with clause (3). They come following the retirement of previously nominated members.
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the nominations through an official notification. The appointments are seen as recognition of outstanding national contributions in the fields of law, diplomacy, social service, and historical research.
Following the announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Master, describing his life as the "epitome" of courage and resilience.
"Shri C. Sadanandan Master's life is the epitome of courage and refusal to bow to injustice. Violence and intimidation couldn't deter his spirit toward national development. His efforts as a teacher and social worker are commendable. He is deeply passionate about youth empowerment. Congratulations to him on being nominated to the Rajya Sabha by Rashtrapati Ji. Best wishes for his role as MP," PM Modi said.

Yaduveer seeks disaster relief funds for Kodagu

Naxals should embrace Ambedkarvad, says Athawale
Kolhapur: Union minister of social justice Ramdas Athawale , while speaking in Kolhapur on Tuesday, urged all naxals to renounce violence and embrace "Ambedkarvad" — the ideals of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Athawale, who is also the president of the Republican Party of India (RPI), clarified that the Jan Suraksha Act, passed by the state legislature, is not intended to suppress democratic movements. "Instead its target is violent and undemocratic movements like naxalism. Simply expressing dissent through writing or speaking against the govt would not lead to action under this Act," he said. "The method of naxals is to backstab. We were never called naxals when we hit the streets. The way naxals carry out their movement is totally wrong. The govt should not interpret Ambedkarites as naxalites. We are different in ideology and means," he added. On being asked about the likelihood of Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray coming together for the Mumbai municipal election, Athawale said, "Now, there are 60% non-Marathis in Mumbai, and they are against Raj. Both Thackerays will get votes only from Marathi people. We will easily defeat them in the election."

Congress to focus on Pahalgam terror attack in first week of Monsoon Session of Parliament
The intelligence failure that resulted in the Pahalgam terror attack, the fallout of Operation Sindoor and U.S. President Donald Trump's claim of achieving the ceasefire, India's fresh engagement with China, and the volatility in West Asia have been identified as the key issues that the Congress will like to raise in the first week of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral polls in Bihar will also be a key focus area for the Congress. The party's leadership will now reach out to other constituents of the Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) and explore the possibility of holding a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders on July 19/20 and finalise a common agenda. This was decided at a meeting of the parliamentary strategy group, presided by Congress Parliamentary Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, on Tuesday. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha, his Lok Sabha counterpart Rahul Gandhi, general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal, Chief Whips Jairam Ramesh and Kodikunnil Suresh were present. Other senior leaders who were present included P. Chidambaram, Manish Tewari, and Pramod Tiwari. Interestingly, Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor, whose views have been at odds with the party, was absent as he was out of the country. Few other members like Gaurav Gogoi, Mohammed Jawed, Manickam Tagore too were missing because of pre-scheduled programmes. 'The Pahalgam terror attack, that wiped out the sindoor of our sisters, has been one of the biggest attacks. We had demanded a special session but the government didn't agree. So, we will keep our focus on why the perpetrators of such a dastardly attack have not yet been caught,' Mr. Tiwari, Congress deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, told reporters.
