Muhyiddin allowed temporary release of passport
Judge Azura Alwi granted the former prime minister's application following a request from his lawyer Kee Wei Lon and there was no objection by Deputy Public Prosecutor Noralis Mat.
'The passport will be handed over to the applicant today and must be returned to the court on May 20,' said Azura.
The court had granted Muhyiddin's application for temporary release of his passport several times, including to attend his grandchild's graduation ceremony and consultation regarding his pancreatic cancer in London, United Kingdom, a medical check-up in Singapore, and the opening of a friend's restaurant in Thailand.
Muhyiddin, 77, in his capacity as then-prime minister and Bersatu president, is accused of abusing his position to solicit RM232.5 million in bribes related to the Jana Wibawa Project from Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd, and Mamfor Sdn Bhd, as well as Datuk Azman Yusoff, for the benefit of his political party.
The four abuse of power offences were allegedly committed at the Prime Minister's Office in the Perdana Putra Building, Federal Government Administrative Centre, Putrajaya, between March 1, 2020, and Aug 20, 2021.
He is also faced with two counts of receiving proceeds from unlawful activities amounting to M195 million from Bukhary Equity that was deposited into Bersatu's CIMB Bank account at the Menara KL branch, Jalan Stesen Sentral, between Feb 25 and July 16, 2021, and Feb 8 and July 8, 2022.
Muhyiddin was also charged in the Sessions Court in Shah Alam on March 13, 2023, with receiving money from illegal activities amounting to RM5 million. The has been transferred to the Sessions Court here to be tried together.

KUALA TERENGGANU: The former treasurer of the Terengganu branch of the Peninsular Malaysia Amalgamated National Union Local Authorities Employees Union (Anulae) was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court today. Jafri Wahab, 59, pleaded guilty to two charges of using forged documents dating back five years. The charges were read before Judge Mohd Azhar Othman, leading to the sentencing. Jafri, a former assistant environmental health officer at the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT), faced a fine of RM5,000 or three months' jail per charge. He was accused of using fake bank statements belonging to the Terengganu Anulae branch for 2019 to 2020 as genuine on June 28, 2020. The charges fall under Section 471 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 465 with a maximum two-year jail term, a fine, or both. Additionally, Jafri faced 11 charges under Section 403 for misappropriating RM29,200 from the Anulae welfare fund between January and July 2020. All 11 charges were taken into consideration under Section 171A of the Criminal Procedure Code. The prosecution was led by MACC deputy public prosecutors Rabiatul Addawiah Mohd Noorlee and Tengku Nurul Haziqah Tuan Yacob, along with officer Nur Raihan Mohd Yusof.

eHati: Police record statements from 95 individuals to date
SEPANG — Police have recorded statements from five more individuals, bringing the total to 95, in connection with the eHati motivational programme investigation, to date. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the five individuals include employees of the motivational programme, staff of the convention centre where the event took place, and programme participants. 'They were called solely to record their statements,' he said, at a press conference, here, today. When asked about the results of the 'piya' water (chocolate drink) linked to the programme, Shazeli said the police were still awaiting the report from the Chemistry Department. On July 16, the police confirmed that nudity occurred during the motivational programme, held last year at a convention centre in Shah Alam, Selangor. Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, Shazeli clarified that the housebreaking case, involving the main witness in the corruption trial of former finance minister Lim Guan Eng is being treated as a criminal matter. He said that there is no evidence linking the housebreaking to the ongoing trial. 'Based on the investigation, the threats received by the victim, such as 'don't make noise' and 'sit quietly,' are typical tactics used by suspects to gain cooperation from victims,' he explained. So far, police have recorded statements from 16 witnesses. No arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation. On Wednesday, the media reported that the key witness in Lim's corruption trial was attacked by a group of 10 men, who broke into his house. Woman charged with attempted murder after ramming into policeman
KUALA LUMPUR: A woman pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of attempting to murder a police officer by ramming her car into him and causing injury earlier this month. Cham Shan Jer, 31, is accused of ramming her car into Cpl Muhamad Fahrulradi Sabran at Jalan Usahawan 6, Setapak, around 11.15pm on Aug 1. She was charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison term of 10 years and a fine. If the act causes injury, the penalty can extend to 20 years' imprisonment, upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the case involving an alleged attempt to kill a police officer. However, defence counsel Nurul Fatihah Abdul Ghani urged the court to grant bail, citing that her client, a single mother of three, also cares for her elderly parents. "My client is a single mother. We request bail to be set at the lowest possible amount," she said.
