MV Minajagi Art Gallery seeks support for infra development

Hubballi: The MV Minajagi Art Gallery, which long struggled to secure a permanent space for its painting exhibitions, has finally regained access to a dedicated building in Vidyanagar. Constructed specifically to support artistic pursuits, the building was handed over to the Dr MV Minajagi Kala Mandir Samiti in Jan. However, the gallery continues to grapple with the lack of basic infrastructure such as electricity and painting. In a bid to address these challenges, the gallery sought assistance from the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) and local elected representatives. The HDMC relocated its zonal office from the first floor to the ground floor of the building, thereby allocating the upper floor exclusively for the gallery's use. Efforts are on to transform the space into a vibrant space for artists and enthusiasts alike. However, support from local authorities and the community will be crucial in realising this vision. GR Mallapur, secretary, Dr MV Minajagi Kala Mandir Samiti, said they approached Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai for funding. "Tenginakai assured Rs 10 lakh for the project and directed HDMC officials to prepare a detailed estimate and begin work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? The samiti also requested MLA Tenginkai for a separate entrance for gallery visitors and the installation of special lighting to enhance the display of artworks. Mallapur pointed out that cold walls damage the artworks during the rainy season. He stated that the walls need to be repaired and painted to prevent this. "Essential items such as ceiling fans, four tables, 100 plastic chairs, and 10 VIP chairs for guests are also required. A microphone and speaker system are also among the requirements," he said. Other necessities include two shelves to store documents, books, and other materials; installation of CCTVs, one computer, one printer, and an air-conditioning system," he added. Shankar Kadakuntla, an artist and member of the committee, said despite the shortcomings, the gallery managed to conduct seven programmes so far. MLA Mahesh Tenginakai assured that steps will be taken to uplift the art gallery. "Development works will be undertaken in phases, based on the requirements," he said. IAF Heritage Museum loses altitude as visitor inflow dips

Chandigarh: The initial burst of enthusiasm about the Indian Air Force Heritage Museum in the Tricity seems to be waning. The dedicated Air Force heritage centre launched by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh with much fanfare in May, 2023, has suffered a significant dip in footfall since its inception. Its expansion plan has also remained restricted to paper for over one year. "Initially, Indian Air Force and Chandigarh administration were in talks to expand the IAF Heritage Museum to start its second phase. Preparation of an MoU was discussed and both parties prepared points for the same. However, there has been no progress for more than one year," sources in the Chandigarh administration revealed. Despite the tourist centre boasting of modern paraphernalia like virtual and augmented reality, holograms, simulators, and electromechanical enclosures, the flow of visitors has gone down. Sources in the administration said that visitors from the Tricity thronged the IAF Heritage Museum initially but the inflow started thinning down. Now, most of the visitors are people from outside the Tricity. As per records of the Chandigarh administration, 58,273 people visited the Air Force Museum in the eight months from its inception on May 8, 2023 to December, 2023. From January, 2024 to December, 2024, the number of visitors at the museum located in the heritage building of the city in Sector 18, fell to 48,712. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Vitauthority Learn More Undo The most drastic reduction was seen in the first six months of 2025, when only 22,586 people visited the centre from January, 2025 to June, 2025. According to records, Chandigarh administration earned significant revenue from the IAF Heritage Museum. From its launch in May 2023 to the end of July 2025, the authority earned over Rs 1.1 crore, including both entry fee of visitors as well as immersive experiences. Yogi unveils plan for holistic devpt of Braj

1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Mathura reflects 5,000 years of ancient history and devotion and devotees from across India and the world converged there as values and divine blessings of Krishna still exist in every particle of Mathura's sacred soil. Launching a series of projects during his visit to Mathura on Janmashtami on Saturday, Yogi gifted 118 projects worth Rs 646 crore and unveiled the comprehensive master plan that would govern the long-term development of the Mathura-Vrindavan region through phased funding amounting to Rs 30,000 crore. The CM said he was privileged to join celebrations like Rangotsav and Janmashtami in Mathura for several years. He said that the master plan would connect pilgrimage sites like Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul with the memories of Dwapar Yuga. "Our govt is committed to respecting the sentiments of revered saints and enriching the Braj region. We are making possible the works which were once considered impossible," he said. Citing the example of Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said that 10 years ago, imagining the transformation of the two sites seemed impossible. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo "In Kashi, where earlier not even 50 devotees could visit together, now 50,000 devotees can get darshan at once," he said. Addition of a ropeway in Barsana has helped senior citizens and boosted tourism in the locality, said Yogi. The projects unveiled by Yogi were focused on beautification of Parikrama paths, entrance gates, restoration of kunds, facilities for devotees, connectivity, water conservation, and environmental protection. He described the bhajans, kirtans, and Shri Krishna lilas organised in the Panchjanya Auditorium as part of the devotional atmosphere.
