From Padma Shri Winners To History: Questions That Stumped Contestants In Episode 2 Of KBC 17
The 17th season of Amitabh Bachchan's legendary quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati is back on television screens, and with it, a fresh round of tricky general knowledge questions that have left even well-prepared contestants scratching their heads. Known for featuring questions often found in competitive exams like the UPSC Civil Services, the show has once again doubled as both entertainment and an impromptu study session for lakhs of viewers.
In the second episode of the season, the hot seat saw an eclectic mix of queries, from musical icons to historical figures, from anatomy to global geography. Contestants faced high-stakes moments, with some questions valued at Rs 7.5 lakh, Rs 25 lakh, and even Rs 50 lakh.
One of the opening stumpers was, 'Which of these singers received the Padma Shri in 2025?" The correct answer, 'Arijit Singh", came as a pleasant surprise to some viewers. Another question took the historical route, 'What was the title of Marie Seton's biography of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru?" Contestants who remembered their literary facts answered correctly, 'Panditji: A Portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru".
The episode also tested health knowledge with the question, 'Which body part is affected by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?" The answer, 'the wrist", is well known in the medical community but continues to puzzle many. In lighter territory, the show asked, 'What is usually replaced on New Year's Day?" The obvious answer, 'the calendar", was a safe bet for many players.
Mahatma Gandhi's London years also featured in the quiz, with the question, 'After joining which group did Gandhi organise local meetings and write on food ethics?" The correct choice, the 'London Vegetarian Society", offered a glimpse into the lesser-known aspects of the freedom fighter's life.
The international segment included, 'Which award, founded by tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg and Sergey Brin, is nicknamed the 'Oscars of Science'?" The answer was the 'Breakthrough Prize". Chess enthusiasts perked up at the question, 'In which island nation did Viswanathan Anand live and learn chess in the 1970s?" with 'The Philippines" as the correct choice.
Mythology buffs had their turn with, 'Who was the commander of the Kaurava army on the first day of the Kurukshetra war?" The right answer was 'Bhishma". Cinema lovers faced, 'In which film does Ajay Devgn play IRS officer Amay Patnaik?" with the hit movie ' Raid" as the correct pick.
The show also touched on cultural norms (Which item is not allowed inside temples? – Shoes), political history (Syeda Anwara Taimur was the first woman chief minister of which state? – Assam), and wildlife (Where is the Asiatic wildcat mainly found in India? – Thar Desert).
Cricket followers got an easy one, 'Complete the name of this cricketer – Kannur Lokesh__?" The answer: 'Rahul". Geography questions included 'Kodaikanal is located in which state?" – 'Tamil Nadu", and botany fans were asked 'Which part of the cocoa plant is used to make chocolate?", the answer was 'Seeds".
One high-value question was a global history challenge, 'Which of these civilisations was not located in America?" The answer, 'Mesopotamian", was worth serious prize money.
By the end of the episode, several contestants had walked away with hefty winnings, thanks to their quick thinking and solid GK base.

The new season opened with a silver jubilee celebration, as the quiz-show has now completed 25 successful years, ready to win hearts once again. In the latest episode 3 on Wednesday, a young contestant Kashish, from Delhi, who pursued a degree in mathematics, played on the hot seat and won a grand prize money. After winning Rs 50 lakh through her general knowledge skills, she failed to answer a Rs 1 crore question towards the end. Amitabh also shared best wishes for the girl as she won enough money to repay her father's debt. The question was, 'Which king of the Visigoths demanded pepper, which ancient Rome typically traded from India, as ransom to lift a siege on the city?' The options for the correct answer were – A) Ludovic, B) Aymeric, C) Alaric, and D) Theodoric.
