Apple Promo Teases New Invasion, Morning Show and Foundation Seasons — For All Mankind, Monarch Still MIA
The minute-and-a-half promo, seen above, features fresh footage from Foundation Season 3 (previously announced to premiere July 11), Slow Horses Season 5 (Sept. 24), Loot Season 3 (return date TBD), The Morning Show Season 4 (Sept. 17), Invasion Season 3 (return date TBD) and Platonic Season 2 (Aug. 6).

You can also get new looks at Jason Momoa's epic series Chief of War (premiering Aug. 1) and the Apple original films The Lost Bus (from director Paul Greengrass, starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, and due out this fall) and Highest 2 Lowest (from Spike Lee, starring Denzel Washington and streaming Sept. 5).
Absent from the sizzle reel, however, are For All Mankind (which dropped its Season 4 finale in January 2024 and was renewed that April) and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (which ended its freshman run in January 2024, but only wrapped filming on Season 2 in March).
Invasion and Loot, meanwhile, still awaits return dates, after streaming their respective Season 2 finales in October 2023 and May 2024.

What makes a successful twist ending? First of all, it has to surprise the audience. If you somehow guess the twist before it happens, then the movie failed to do its job. Furthermore, the twist has to make sense. Movies like 'Serenity' and 'Remember Me' featured shocking endings that did not belong. These twists ruined, not helped, the story. This month, 'The Usual Suspects' celebrates its 30th anniversary. The final twist in the Oscar-winning thriller is still one of the best in cinematic history. 'It was clear whoever got that role was going to blow up,' Matt Damon said about auditioning for the 1996 legal thriller, 'Primal Fear.' The role in question was for Aaron Stampler, a stuttering boy accused of murdering the archbishop of Chicago. Edward Norton won the coveted part and, like Damon predicted, blew up, culminating in an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. There's no proof as to what moment secured Norton the critical acclaim; the best guess is that it happened during the film's final moments. In today's Hollywood, twists are spoiled within minutes of the embargo lifting. But 45 years ago, you had to sit on that cliffhanger for three years before the trilogy wrapped in 1983's 'Return of the Jedi.' If this list consisted of misquoted lines in movie history, 'The Empire Strikes Back' might occupy the top spot. As much fun as it is to say, 'Luke, I am your father,' the correct reciting of Darth Vader's line reads, 'No, I am your father.' Alfred Hitchcock's mystery centers around Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), a real estate secretary who, after stealing money from her employer, flees Phoenix for California. Due to heavy rain, Marion stops for the night at the Bates Motel, where she meets a peculiar proprietor, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Hitchcock solidified his 'Master of Suspense' title thanks to his revolutionary camerawork and haunting score. The tale also included two twists. The first occurs during a stabbing in the shower. The final twist happens near the end, when Norman, not his mother, is revealed to be the killer. Norman's sadistic smile will be ingrained in your memory. Rent/buy on Amazon or Apple The first rule of Fight Club: Do not talk about Fight Club. Apologies to Edward Norton and Brad Pitt, but we have to break the first rule for good reason. David Fincher's crime drama follows the journeys of the unnamed Narrator (Norton) and soap salesman Tyler Durden (Pitt) as they form an underground fight club. The club attracts depressed men looking for excitement in their lives. Eventually, the club transitions into Project Mayhem, an anarchist movement to disrupt the social order through acts of violence and vandalism. The Narrator disapproves of Tyler's methods until he realizes — and here's the twist — that Tyler is his alter ego. The second rule of Fight Club should be: Don't talk about the twist unless your job requires you to make a list about twist endings. Watch on Hulu The movie that inspired the list has to be near the top. For nearly the entire 106-minute runtime of 'The Usual Suspects,' Agent Dave Kujan (and the audience) attempted to identify the criminal mastermind known as Keyser Söze. Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey) led us to believe Keyser Söze was Dean Keaton (Gabriel Byrne). Then, Kujan drops the coffee cup as the details from the random flyers jump off the wall. Keyser Söze was none other than Verbal Kint, and the moment his limp disappears remains one of cinema's most iconic images of the last 30 years. Watch on Prime Video The biggest strength of 'The Sixth Sense' is its twist ending. It also happens to be the film's greatest weakness. 'The Sixth Sense' relies on its twist more than any other movie on this list. It's hard to enjoy M. Night Shyamalan's psychological thriller and pretend like the reveal isn't coming. The twist is all you can think about, which hurts the movie's rewatchability. Nevertheless, learning that Malcolm (Bruce Willis) had been dead the entire time was jaw-dropping. It changed the trajectory of Shyamalan's career and became the new standard for twist endings. This British thriller is one of the underrated Netflix shows to watch in August 2025
August marks the return of Wednesday, Netflix's most popular English-language TV show. The first four episodes of season 2 are now available to stream, with four more coming in September. Episode 4 ended on a cliffhanger that will make your jaw drop. While Wednesday will generate the most headlines, Netflix has plenty of underrated shows deserving of your time. Q is Netflix's answer to Slow Horses. That is a compliment. Slow Horses is one of Apple TV+'s five best shows. Dept. Q is not in Netflix's top five. However, Scott Frank, best known for The Queen's Gambit, has crafted another riveting show with another star-making performance at the center. Matthew Goode stars as Carl Morck, a detective recovering from an accident that resulted in the paralysis of his colleague. Upon his return to work, Morck is tasked with spearheading the cold case division, with an office located in the basement. Morck eventually forms a ragtag group of investigators to work on unsolved cases. Dept. Q is a rock-solid show backed by its steady showrunner and engaging cast. Stream Dept. Q on Netflix. Black Doves (2024) The Brits love their spy thrillers, and they do them well. Black Doves is a six-episode espionage tale starring Keira Knightley as Helen Webb, a professional spy who happens to be the wife of the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Defence (Andrew Buchan). Helen works as a 'Black Dove,' a spy who relays information to a mercenary organization. Being a spy is not Helen's only secret. She has another lover: Jason (Andrew Koji). However, Helen's world comes crashing down after Jason's murder. Helen's handler, Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls in an old agent, Sam (Ben Whishaw), to keep an eye on Helen. You know where it's going. Helen barks up the wrong tree and uncovers a deep conspiracy in this action-packed series. Stream Black Doves on Netflix. Ransom Canyon (2025) Ransom Canyon is not Yellowstone. Are there cowboys, complicated families, and drama? Yes. However, Ransom Canyon is more romance than violence. That's not a bad thing, considering Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly are perfect for this type of show. The widowed Staten Kirkland (Duhamel) owns the Double K Ranch and finds himself in a struggle to save his land. Quinn O'Grady (Kelly) returns to town after a stint in New York, starting a will-they-won't-they romance with Staten. Ransom Canyon is a Western soap opera at its core, making for an easy, satisfying binge-watch. Stream Ransom Canyon on Netflix.

Tristan Rogers, aka Robert Scorpio on General Hospital, Dead at 79
Tristan Rogers has taken his final bow. The Australian-born actor, who played Robert Scorpio on General Hospital off and on since 1980, died Friday at the age of 79, his manager confirms to ABC News. 'The entire [General Hospital] family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers' passing,' the show's executive producer Frank Valentini posted to social media on Friday. 'Tristan has captivated our fans for more than 50 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.' He was even a regular on the short-lived police drama The Link Men. But his big break Stateside didn't come until the Golden Age of Love In the Afternoon — when he landed his General Hospital role of Port Charles' answer to 007. Rogers' initial run on the daytime drama lasted a dozen years. During that time, he was successfully paired with one leading lady (Demi Moore as Jackie Templeton) after another (Emma Samms as Holly Sutton) after another (Finola Hughes as Anna Devane). On breaks from the show, he recurred on The Bold and the Beautiful as private eye Hunter Jones in 1997, spent the early 2010s playing conniving Colin Atkinson on The Young and the Restless and won a Best Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series Emmy for his work on Bold & Beautiful leading man Sean Kanan's web soap, Studio City. Outside of daytime, Rogers starred in Showtime's stock-car racing drama Fast Track in '97, voiced the kangaroo mouse in 1990's The Rescuers Down Under and played Home Guard leader Malcolm Biggs in a Season 1 episode of Babylon 5 opposite General Hospital castmate Nancy Lee Grahn. In July of 2025, Rogers shared via a statement that he had been diagnosed with cancer, adding, that he 'sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years.' He is survived by wife Teresa Parkerson and their two grown children. Nancy Lee Grahn, who played Alexis on General Hospital and also co-starred with Rogers on Babylon 5, offered this tribute on Facebook: 'Suave, wry, smooth, debonair and ridiculously handsome. This GH Aussie Icon left his mark and will be well remembered. Sending love to his family, and just donated to in dear Tristan's name.' Kimberly McCullough, who played Rogers' GH daughter Robin, added a simple 'Trissy forever' on Instagram, alongside a vintage photo of her and Rogers on set.
