Horror film fans spiral into conspiracy after disturbing VHS tapes surface
Users on Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok are taking to the platforms in search of answers, with many wondering if it could be a clever marketing ploy for a new film.
In a number of States, people are discovering VHS tapes featuring three hours of different horror scenes, and after exchanging theories and findings online, it appears all the tapes share the same footage. On the clip that's been uploaded to YouTube, we can see that the three-hour, 42-minute-long feature has been filmed in black and white and with night vision cameras.
Titled 'WHITEFACE' and uploaded on June 27, the video was uploaded in a bid to gain more context on the elusive video.
In the description, the user noted six locations where tapes have been found thus far.
These include a Hollywood video store, a bar in Nashville, a thrift store in Orlando, and an art gallery in Virginia.
TikToker Nicolas Curcio is one of many who took to the internet, intrigued by these elusive tapes, noting; 'This is either one of the best art projects ever or a case of the possible first-ever real found footage horror film.'
He went on to add that the VHS tapes don't feature any notable or recognisable actors and mostly appears to be a man with a white-painted face wandering around LA.
In other harrowing moments in the video, the man can be seen filming random people, following them home and even harassing a woman at a bus stop.
Some have theorized it may be a student film while others think it may be a form of rage bait.

While many are noting that the name on the tape is the same as that of the antagonist of a notable indie horror game called IMSCARED.

CBB's Stephen Bear marries Brazilian girlfriend, 18, after prison release
Convicted sex offender Stephen Bear, 35, has tied the knot with his 18-year-old Brazilian girlfriend, Miami, and took to Instagram to flaunt a series of snaps from their wedding. It comes just a year-and-a-half after Bear was released from prison, where he served time for circulating a sex tape featuring his ex and Love Island celeb Georgia Harrison. For the big day, Bear suited up in pink and shared an Instagram snap with his new wife, captioning it: "MY WEDDING. MR AND MRS BEAR." Earlier this year, Bear mocked the authorities by sharing a video from Brazil alongside his new 18-year-old girlfriend. Bear boasted in the clip: "The police can't catch me now," adding, "Life's good. I thought I'd come on here guys and say I love you all, simple as that. I love you all. Stay true, because this year I'm fully active, I'm off-licence. The police, they could still be after me, but I'm in Brazil. They can't catch me now. Catch me if you can."
