Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma pays tribute to Swami Vivekananda on his 123rd death anniversary
Swami Vivekananda passed away on July 4, 1902, at the age of 39, and today marks his 123rd death anniversary.
Earlier, CM Sharma on Friday applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that his work, proficient diplomacy and governance have elevated India to the ranks of the world's most powerful and respected nations.
Addressing the 12th Bharat Gaurav Award ceremony held in London through video conferencing, Sharma mentioned that India's invaluable talent has showcased the country's strength and potential through their actions around the world.
He further stated that the event was not only a celebration of honouring Indian talents but also a symbol of the strong and cordial relations between India and the United Kingdom.
The Chief Minister, addressing the ceremony, stated that Rajasthan had gained worldwide popularity for its rich culture, hospitality, and glorious history and was writing a new chapter of development through the 'Rising Rajasthan' initiative.
'Proposals for investments worth Rs 35 lakh crore have created immense potential for employment and prosperity in the state. Over the last one and a half years, Rajasthan has made unprecedented progress in the fields of investment, innovation, and inclusive development,' the CM said.
CM Sharma further mentioned that Rajasthan holds immense potential for development in various sectors, including mining, tourism, and industry, with significant strides also being made in education and healthcare.
'The mining, tourism, and industrial sectors are progressing in the state. Significant advancements are being made in the fields of education and healthcare as well. Tourists from around the world visit the state to experience the grandeur of its palaces, forts, and havelis, as well as its rich and glorious history. Similarly, tourism is rapidly expanding in religious sites, sanctuaries, and desert areas,' he further added.
The Chief Minister called upon the expatriates to visit Rajasthan, invest in the state, and be a part of its development journey. Their contribution will elevate Rajasthan to new heights and further strengthen India's global leadership.
Congratulating the honoured talents at the ceremony, Sharma said that the 'Bharat Gaurav Award' was a symbol of the country's infinite potential, our unity, and our growing strength on the global stage.
It is noteworthy that during this ceremony, organised by the Culture Youth Organisation, individuals from various fields were awarded the Bharat Gaurav Award with certificates of appreciation, mementoes, and shawls. Representatives from 18 countries worldwide participated in the event.
Prominent dignitaries at the ceremony included London MP Navendu Mishra, former UK Minister and member of the House of Lords, Baroness Sandeep Verma, member of the House of Lords, Rami Ranger, former Mayor of London Sunil Chopra, former MP Virendra Sharma, Prayag Mahakumbh advisor Rakesh K. These premier institutes have completed the admission process for this IIM-Indore, as much as 53.79% of the new students are women, the highest in the institute's 29-year history. Female students account for 30.84% of the new batch at IIM-Ahmedabad, the most in four years. Narayanan Ramaswamy, national leader (education and skill development) at KPMG India, sees more women joining top B-schools as a win-win for the institutes and industry. IIMs said they are taking steps to improve gender diversity on their campuses. Female and transgender candidates receive specific diversity points in the interview shortlisting process, said admissions chairperson Ram Kumar the first time in the last four years, IIM-Ahmedabad has more than 30% female students among the 414 students in the Class of 2027. Both the batch size and gender diversity percentage have increased for this IIM, from 397 and 22.92% for the class of 2022-24.'To help increase the pool of female candidates selected for the admission interviews, we have introduced gender diversity points this year while preparing the interview shortlist,' Karthik Sriram, chairperson, admissions, account for close to 40% of the batch of the full-time twoyear post-graduate programme at IIM-Bangalore, which is almost like last year, said Mukta Kulkarni, dean of academic programmes. ‘No trade deal under pressure of deadline': Piyush Goyal
Reuters India's trade minister Piyush Goyal Days ahead of the US' July 9 deadline for reciprocal tariffs, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said India does not enter into trade agreements based on deadlines but on mutual benefits and national interest. 'FTAs (free trade agreements) are possible only when both sides get benefits. It should be a win-win agreement. India never negotiates trade deals based on deadlines. Our focus is always on fairness and the country's benefit,' Goyal told media persons on the sidelines of an event, a day after Indian trade negotiators returned from an eight-day visit to the US to close a trade pact before July 9. The minister ruled out him visiting the US in the near term. The Indian negotiating team returned from Washington after hectic parleys with their US counterparts. 'India Always Ready to Do Deals' 'India's national interest should always be supreme… keeping that in mind, if a good deal happens then India is always ready to do deals with developed countries,' Goyal said. 'Jab deal achchhi ban jaaye, puri tarah se pakk jaaye tab usko sweekar karenge (When a good deal is done and ready, then we will accept it),' he emphasised. Asked whether he was hopeful of a trade deal with the US, Goyal said, 'I have told you many times that India negotiates FTAs on its own terms'. He added that trade discussions are on with the European Union and different countries—New Zealand, Oman, US, Chile and Peru. US President Donald Trump on Thursday said that his administration would send letters to individual countries which don't have a deal with the US, specifying the tariffs they would now have to pay to export to America. In April, Trump had announced reciprocal tariffs for most of the trading partners based on their trade surpluses with the US, including a 26% levy on India. The Indian government wants the entire 26% levy to be rolled back and is negotiating with the Trump administration. However, the US' demand for market access across sectors, including sensitive agriculture and dairy products, and insistence on genetically modified crops, have been some sticky areas. On the issue of the two sides inking multiple deals on issues as and when they get agreed, an official said that all possibilities are on the table.

Kusum-C scheme: Target to generate 2,400MW solar power for farmers, says George
Hassan: Under the Kusum-C scheme, which aims to solarise agricultural feeders and provide daytime electricity supply to farmers' pumpsets, 200MW of electricity is being produced. In the coming months, 545MW of electricity will be generated, stated energy minister KJ George. Speaking to reporters after the energy department's progress review meeting of Hassan district, held on Friday at the Zilla Panchayat hall in the city, George said, "Under the Kusum-C scheme, construction of solar units with a capacity of around 200MW is completed. In the next few months, solar units with a capacity of 545MW will be commissioned at 93 locations. This will help provide an adequate daytime electricity supply to farmers. " "The state govt has set a target of generating 2,400MW of solar electricity through feeder solarisation of agricultural pumpsets under the Kusum-C scheme. Recently, chief minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated a solar power unit established under the Kusum-C scheme in Gauribidanur. The feeder solarisation work is progressing at a rapid pace," the energy minister added. Under the Kusum-C scheme, generating 1MW of electricity requires 4 acres of land. If govt land is available, CM Siddaramaiah has directed that it be allocated free of cost. However, private power producers must pay Rs 25,000 per acre, which will be deposited with the district commissioner and used to improve govt schools and anganwadis in villages where the substations are located, the minister elaborated. "If private land is used, developers awarded the power generation contracts will lease the land and pay landowners a minimum of Rs 25,000 per acre," George said. Of the 4 lakh unauthorised irrigation pumpsets in the state, 3 lakh are already regularised. For pumpsets within 500m of power feeders, transformers will be installed by the department. Those beyond 500m will receive solar pumpsets under the Kusum-B scheme, he said. Earlier, during a progress review meeting, the district MLAs raised issues concerning the energy department in their constituencies. In response, George instructed the CESC MD to take swift action and reiterated that officials should proactively consult elected representatives and follow through on their suggestions. MP Shreyas Patel, MLA and Housing Board chairman KM Shivalingegowda, MLAs K Manju, Swaroop Prakash, CN Balakrishna, HK Suresh, and S Manjunath, KPTCL MD Pankaj Kumar Pandey, DC S Latha Kumari, and ZP CEO BR Poornima were present.
