Three-car garage: three of Nissan's best for £50,000
Brand loyalty really is quite something and occasionally it can lead to us making decisions that might seem strange on the outside, but in fact are perfectly reasonable. For instance, you could have an excellent sports car, an electric car and a family SUV all on your drive - all from Nissan.
First up, let's start with the fun one - the Nissan 370Z – although this is no ordinary 370Z, because it's the Nismo version. For the uninitiated, Nismo is Nissan's performance division, and it performs a similar role to the one played by AMG for Mercedes these days. In the 370Z Nismo you'll find the output of its naturally aspirated 3.7-litre V6 is lifted from the regular car's 324bhp to 339bhp, with all that power going to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. There's also a bodykit, sports exhaust and 19-inch alloy wheels, which all combined to make the Nismo version cost over £10,000 more than the standard 370Z when it was new. The Nissan Leaf remains a solid entry point into the world of electric hatchbacks and, in the used market, hefty depreciation adds a whole new layer of appeal. A comparable Kia Niro EV or Volkswagen ID.3 would cost several thousand pounds more, but for less than £13,000 you can get a two-year-old example of the latest Leaf. A range of 168 miles isn't the best (that's where the Qashqai and 370Z come in), but the Leaf will be cheap to run, a doddle to drive and surprisingly refined.

The original Nissan Qashqai was a game changer when it was launched in the mid-2000s, showing the world that people wanted a high-riding SUV that drove like a car and wasn't too focused on going off-road. The current edition is as good as ever and with the Visia trim of this model you get the smaller 17-inch wheels, which make the ride noticeably softer than on Qashqais with larger wheels. It's also a roomy car inside, feels well built and comes with an all-important feature for families with young children: rear doors that open by 90 degrees.
If you weren't able to snap up this particular Nissan Qashqai in time, there are plenty of others available right now...

Lotus has tweaked the Emira and added a new ‘V6 SE' top-spec model
Lotus has tweaked the Emira and added a new 'V6 SE' top-spec model And if you don't fancy spending £96.5k, there's now a cheaper, less powerful entry-level called the 'Turbo' Skip 16 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 16 Lotus has rejigged its Emira lineup for what feels like the 63rd time this year, adding a new range-topping 'V6 SE' and entry-level 'Turbo'. It means the pre-existing Turbo SE now shifts into the middle ground. Of course. As the name suggests, the V6 SE will continue to use Toyota's 3.5-litre supercharged, er, V6. Rated at 400bhp and 310lb ft of torque, it's good for 0-62mph in 4.3s. To help you do just that, the six-speed manual 'box gains a new compression mount for slicker shifts. Aside from the model-specific badging, the V6 will get 20in forged alloys, red brake calipers and a 'Zing Grey' paint finish as standard. You'll also get the option of Lotus' new 'Racing Line' accents, which add a subtle pinstripe to the exterior and colour-matched mirror caps. Moving on to the Turbo, it'll pinch the same twin-scroll 2.0-litre four-pot as the Turbo SE, albeit detuned to 360bhp and 317lb ft. Still, it's just one-tenth off the V6's 0-62mph time, and tops out at a still respectable 171mph (compared to the V6's 180mph). The kit list is healthy too: 10in infotainment screen, 190-watt audio system and 12-way adjustable seats as standard. Plus, a safety suite with technologies like Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Warning and Fatigue Detection. Basically, it'll kick into life more easily when British weather does… British weather things. The V6 SE and Turbo will be available from September, priced at £96,500 and £79,500 respectively. Parents say children are 'dodging cars' as car park remains shut
Parents who drop their children off at a football club say it is "frustrating" they are unable to use a car park a year after it was Jaguars are being forced to "dodge cars" when their parents drop them off in Bishops Cleeve, a coach access the car park, parents would have to drive over a verge belonging to Gloucestershire County Council (GCC), which asked Bishops Cleeve Parish Council to complete a surface specification to ensure heavy goods vehicles could access the car specification has now been completed, and the car park is due to open in late October, the parish council said. Gotherington Jaguars play on an astroturf pitch every Saturday, next to the new car officials and families of the 160 players were using it for a time but the access gate was then are parking along Kayte Lane and crossing the road to take their children to football. Katrin Perkins, who takes her daughter to the club, said: "It's very frustrating that we've got this lovely car park with a lot of spaces that we can't use. It doesn't feel very safe on the road." GCC has been accused of "ridiculous" bureaucracy by Lauren, a coach at Gotherington Jaguars."We've got girls as young as four coming to play football, it's worse dodging cars than the footballs," she said."It's for the safety of the people who've paid the council tax to use it."While there is a car park on Cheltenham Road, it is 500 metres from The Astro Cage and, according to Wayne Morgan, a coach, is often full, "making access impractical and putting pressure on local roads". The parish council said it is working to get the car park open "as soon as possible"."We are hopeful that the car park will be open for the winter training sessions, commencing at the end of October," a spokesperson said."It is important to remember there is a car park at the other end of the Sports Field."GCC has been contacted for comment.

Major Stellantis car plant in Sochaux to restart production on June 6
PARIS, June 5 (Reuters) - Stellantis' ( opens new tab car plant in Sochaux in eastern France is expected to be restart production on Friday after a few days of stoppage due to the breakdown of its new-generation Chinese stamping press, a Stellantis spokesman told Reuters. The outage came at a critical time of precarious supplies, as the car industry faces a new crisis linked to restrictions on the export of rare earth magnetic materials from China. The press, introduced in 2020 for an investment of 33 million euros, allows great versatility in manufacturing different body parts for the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs. Out of service since Monday, the press is due to restart on Friday morning and, if the tests are successful, car production will resume soon after, the spokesperson added. The disruption, which resulted in the loss of 1,000 cars a day at one of Stellantis' main factories - which employs 3,000 workers - came at an unfortunate time, just a few days after new CEO Antonio Filosa visited the site after his appointment was announced.
