How to stay in the world's most expensive cities for free according to the woman who's visited 90 countries

AN AUSTRALIAN has visited over 90 countries, yet for several of her holidays she didn't spend a penny on accommodation and experienced destinations better than most tourists.
Kiera Bourke from

, Australia, and her partner, Nathan, have experienced some amazing destinations through years of flying, backpacking and exploring the world.

But the savvy traveller has also managed to find a way of seeing new places, without paying for accommodation - and actually having a better holiday for it.
Kiera said: "We've visited like 90 countries and all seven world wonders.
"We were looking after people's

"We didn't take any payment, but in return we would get these great places to stay, with great animals as company.

"It helped us to see more local parts of the world and the local way of experiencing places, that we may not have had access to otherwise."
Since, the 33-year-old has told other people about her experiences and how it is a great way to save
money
"but also experience things more authentically".
Over the past years, using Trusted House Sitters, Kiera and Nathan has been to Glasgow with a German Shepherd, stayed with a Rottweiler on Vancouver Island in Canada and mostly carried, a French Bulldog around New York City.

Replacing hotels with peoples homes meant that Nathan and Keira could cook their own food and have space to spread out - as well as save thousands.
Keira added how in a lot of the destinations she pet sat, owners would leave a basket of goodies, or perhaps bake a cake or stock the fridge up.
In return, her and Nathan would try and leave some Australian goodies.
"Slowing down and experiencing the local way of life around the world was something that was a novelty to us when we travelled before [pet sitting]."
And when it comes to perhaps weird or hard situations, the couple have been fortunate enough to not experience any.
Keira admitted: "Sometimes an animals' quirkiness is quite funny."
The duo were so inspired by travelling locally, that when they returned to Australia they set up their own

Ditch Cornwall for my seaside county this summer – we get less rain, an earlier sunrise… and we actually want tourists

EVERYONE might be heading to Cornwall this summer for their summer staycation - but my English county is a much better option. Born and raised in Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk, my teenage summers were spent eating chips on the quay and hosting beach parties with my friends. 12 My home county is a much better option that Cornwall Credit: Alamy 12 I remember running down to the beach after school to catch the sunset I've since travelled the world, from Iceland to California, yet nothing compares to the sunsets I've seen from my bedroom window in Norfolk. Not only does it get less rain than Cornwall (which is actually one of the UK's wettest regions) but we get a much earlier sunrise and we want tourists to visit. The vast open space makes our skies clear and full of stars, and I've even caught a glimpse of the From discovering secluded beaches to trying just about every fish and chip shop along the coast, I've put together the perfect guide to my home county to show you why Norfolk is the best place to spend your summer in the UK. The walk down to the shore through the pine forest and into the marshes is long but scenic, perfect for those seeking seclusion. It usually takes about 20 minutes to walk from the main road down to the sea, but you'll soon realise the walk is worth it once you have the whole stretch of sand to yourself! You'll spot their Marshside bar from the path, the perfect pit-stop for a pint on your journey. Soak up the Sights It may be named England's 'flattest county', but Norfolk's wide and sandy coastline makes for some of the most For the most breathtaking of views, you'll want to catch the sunset from Hunstanton Cliffs. It's the only spot on the East coast that faces West, so it's the perfect place to park up and watch the sun dipping into the sea. My personal favourite way to watch the sunset is out on the sea in Burnham Overy Staithe. 12 The beach at Old Hunstanton is still one of my favourite spots to show my friends Credit: Jenna Stevens 12 Bring your own, rent one or join a tour - paddleboarding is a great way to see Norfolk on the water Credit: Jenna Stevens Take a stand-up Alternatively, if you watch from Cley or Blakeney point, you might see a If you want to get up close and personal with the local seals, take a trip with Beans Seal Trips from Morston Quay to visit them out on the sandbanks. Stop by Eric's pizza for a traditional margherita in a unique Yurt, or pop into Mim's for a scoop of gelato after a day of lounging in the sun. Europe's cheapest village where residents pay under £1 for a whole year's rent – but with a very strict rule

A VILLAGE in Europe is so cheap, locals only pay £1 rent for the entire year - but there is a strict curfew in place. Located in the city of Augsburg in Germany, the Fuggerei housing complex was created in 1521 by the Fugger family, to help residents in need. Today, there are 150 people living at the complex, and only Catholic Augsburgers who are in need of some help are allowed to live there. For anyone who lives there, they only have to pay 75p for their entire year's rent. In return, they must pray three times a day to the current owners of Fuggerei. However, there is one rule that could make the residents pay more - they must not be home after 10pm. If they do come home after this time, they must pay the watchman a 42p fee. Advertisement Most read in News Travel It gets worse if they are home after midnight, with the fee rising to 85p - more than the annual rent. The homes in Fuggerei are around 60-square-metres with three rooms each and the ground floor flats tend to come with a small garden. Sample the atmosphere of welcoming Dusseldorf Tourists can visit the complex too though. Each ticket costs £6.78 and includes entry into the Fuggerei's Advertisement For visitors, there is the option to go on a tour of the complex including heading to St. Mark's Church, the Founder's Table, the Night Watchman's Gate, the bunker and the museums in the Fuggerei. If travelling with your furry friend, dogs are welcome too - as long as they are on a leash. But the complex is still home for a group of people - and therefore visitors are asked to respect the green spaces in Fuggerei, and keep it clean.
