Liam Payne's family 'give blessing' to his final TV show as its future confirmed
One Direction's Liam Payne worked with Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger on Netflix's Building The Band prior to his death last year and the show is set to be released this year
The late Liam Payne 's family are said to have given their blessing for his "final" TV show to be released this year. It comes following the news that Netflix will launch Building the Band, which features him as a judge, over the summer.
Liam filmed the reality TV show just months before he died, aged 31, in October last year. He was on the judging panel alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland, with all three of the judges having been in bands themselves.
There had been some speculation about the show's future following Liam's death, and it was announced by Netflix earlier this month that Building The Band will air later this year. The show is now set to launch "later this summer".
It has since been reported that Liam's family have backed plans to air the show, which he's said to have finished filming just two months before his death. Producers reportedly provided footage to some of his loved ones in advance.
A source told the Sun: "Liam was on great form at filming so everyone's pleased fans will get to see the 'real' him one last time." They added that it will be "bittersweet" when Building the Band is released by the streaming platform.
The source continued: "Netflix have gone out of their way to make sure his family are happy." They concluded by saying: "Producers sent them the footage so they are fully aware of what to expect and they have given it their blessing."
Building the Band was announced last year. It was revealed that Liam, who was a member of One Direction, would be joined by the Pussycat Dolls ' Nicole and Destiny's Child member Kelly on the judging panel for the TV project.
They aren't the only cast members with experience of being in the group, though, as the host comes from a similar career background. The show will be hosted by AJ McLean, who is best known as a member of the Backstreet Boys.
Netflix has teased that the show aims to put together a musical group "without any of the members ever seeing each other". It's said that the judges bring their "unparalleled expertise" and "personal band experience" to the competition.
The streaming platform said earlier this month that the show gives a group of "talented singers" the "opportunity of a lifetime". It teases that they are given the chance to "find their perfect bandmates solely based on musical compatibility, connection, and, most importantly, merit".
Last year, executive producer Cat Lawson described the show as "brave" and "bold". They said: "Building the Band is a brave and bold undertaking for all involved as we hand over power to the singers themselves to form their own band based on chemistry first."
Cat added: "With looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates? With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heart-stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the outcome is truly amazing, with bands forming who, in my opinion, are worthy of the very biggest stage!"

Peter Andre supports Liam Payne's girlfriend over 'signs' from the dead
EXCLUSIVE: Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy has said she believes the late One Direction star leaves her 'signs' from beyond the grave - and Peter Andre is supporting her Peter Andre is not a stranger to grief. After losing his brother, Andrew, to kidney cancer in 2012, the dad of six is sympathising and relating to the late Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy after she said she believes Liam leaves her 'signs'. The One Direction singer died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2024. Kate has taken to social media to share what she considered to be a message from Liam months on from his death. The star shared a screenshot of the 4,444 shares on one of her social media posts, writing alongside it, "Hi Liam," with a white heart emoji. Kate has previously spoken about how 444 was her and Liam's angel number - a pattern of numbers that signifies a message of love and support. Kate wrote in her heartbreaking tribute to Liam at the time of her death that they both believed in that specific angel number. In his exclusive OK! Column, Peter could relate with Kate as he said: 'Some people will find that bonkers, but when I lost my brother, I remember many times when I thought he was sending me signs. It's easy for someone to say, 'That can't be true.'' 'But until you go through a personal experience like that, you ought not judge. If the thought of a sign offers comfort in dark times, why shouldn't people believe? My mum has such strong faith that there's life after death – who are we to challenge that faith and hope?' Pete was left heartbroken when Andrew passed away with his family at his bedside. A spokeswoman said at the time: 'Peter is devastated. He was very, very close to his brother. This is the very first family member Peter has experienced losing. He just needs time to grieve.' Andrew, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February 2012, was understood to have been responding well to treatment before his situation worsened in the November. His parents flew to the UK from their home in Australia to be at his bedside with his wife and daughter, as well as singer Peter. A family friend said: 'Everyone was with him when he passed away. They all did everything they could for Andrew and there wasn't one waking minute when he wasn't with somebody.' Peter was preparing for a show in Cardiff as part of his Up Close And Personal tour when he was told Andrew had taken a turn for the worse. He immediately cancelled his remaining tour dates this month so he could be with his brother. He even moved Andrew into his Surrey home so he could receive specialised treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, West London. Peter spent every moment possible at the hospital with his brother's wife Magda and the couple's daughter. Andrew frequently appeared in various reality TV shows alongside Peter and offered emotional support when his marriage to glamour model Katie Price broke down in May, 2009. At the time, Katie sent a message of support to her former husband on X. She wrote: 'My thoughts are with the Andre family at this difficult time xx.' Peter previously described his reaction on being told of his brother's illness, saying: 'I was horrified, so shocked, and I broke down. The tears were just rolling down my face and I've cried every day since.'

Rose West welcomes granddaughter after paedophile son has baby with former model
Serial killer Rose West has become a grandmother again after her paedophile son Stephen, 51, and his fiancée Emma Bradley, 39, welcomed a baby girl named Eden. Rose West has welcomed another grandchild into the world after her son fathered a child with an ex-glamour model. Stephen West and his betrothed Emma Bradley are now parents to little Eden, yet 71 year old Rose, behind bars serving a whole life term, will never meet her newest grandchild due to Stephen severing all contact with his notorious mother. Despite the trepidation of Emma's kin over their romance, given Stephen's past conviction in 2004 for underage sex offences, the couple forged ahead. The 51 year old who once lived in the gruesome family home confessed: "There's a bit of my dad in me." His infamous father, Fred West, committed a series of murders with Rose between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire. In 1995, Fred was discovered deceased in his cell. Nearly three decades into her incarceration, Rose has reportedly ceased efforts to contest her judgment since 2001 and seems to accept her fate in prison. Now, insiders relay to The Sun that Stephen and Emma plan to exchange vows come August at Newport's Celtic Manor hotel, reports the Mirror. Despite this happy occasion, it is understood from a source that Emma's family remains unsupportive of the match, discomforted by Stephen and citing "a rift" created in the family. Emma, a trained nurse stationed at Gloucester Royal Hospital, brings two daughters from a former relationship into the fold. Following unsettling reports indicating that Rose may be struggling with her health and has been transferred to a disabled room in prison "because she can barely walk," Emma disclosed that she and her partner were oblivious as they maintain no contact. Acknowledging that they've watched the new Netflix documentary Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, Emma revealed that her fiancé Stephen "doesn't want to say anything because his main priority is the little ones." She elaborated: "He is adamant, at this time of his life he's got a young family to protect." Stephen, himself a grandfather, has eight children from two previous marriages. As for Rose's experiences behind bars, an insider divulged to The Sun: "She never really leaves the wing she's held on and is escorted all the time by prison officers if she goes anywhere. Sometimes she sits in the communal areas on her own. "No one talks to her because everyone knows who she is and what she did, even if she has changed her name. When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. She likes to watch nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, especially ones about birds." In an effort to distance herself from her heinous acts, it's purported that West shelled out £36 to officially adopt the name Jennifer Jones. Reports suggest she went through the deed poll process last December, expressing to acquaintances that it represents a step towards moving forward. Nonetheless, her true identity remains common knowledge at the all-female HMP New Hall near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Some prisoners reject her overtures of companionship, leading her to consume tomato soup solitarily in her cell for breakfast, followed by prolonged periods of knitting and conversing with the television due to her limited mobility. West is currently detained in New Hall's designated section called Rivendell House, where she occupies one of the 30 en-suite cells available to inmates, each furnished with a laptop for ordering food. Inspection reports suggest that the shared spaces in this unit are "more inviting" compared to other areas within the prison.

Sasha Calle, Néstor Carbonell, Lina Esco, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler will also appear in The Rip. The Boston besties co-produced Bill Condon's $30M-budget remake of West End musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring Ben's second ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, which hits US theaters October 10. Principal photography officially began February 25 on the IMAX flick, and filming is also expected to take place in Italy, Greece, Morocco, Scotland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
