North Korea's Kim vows to win anti-U.S. battle marking Korean War anniversary
Mr. Kim "affirmed that our state and its people would surely achieve the great cause of building a rich country with a strong army and become honorable victors in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. showdown," KCNA state news agency said, referring to his visit to a war museum on a previous day.
North Korea signed an armistice agreement with the United States and China on July 27, 1953, ending the fighting in the three-year war. U.S. generals signed the agreement representing the United Nations forces that backed South Korea.
North Korea calls July 27 "Victory Day" even though the armistice drew a border dividing the Korean peninsula roughly equally in area and restoring balance after the two sides had made major advances back and forth during the war.
South Korea does not mark the day with any major events.
North Korea is now fighting alongside Russia in the war in Ukraine. Thousands of North Korean troops were deployed to Russia's Kursk region, while Pyongyang has also supplied Russia with munitions. It may deploy more troops in July or August, South Korea has said.
Kim also visited memorials honouring the veterans of the 1950-53 war including the Tower of Friendship remembering the Chinese People's Liberation Army soldiers who fought with the North Koreans, and met soldiers in an artillery regiment to celebrate the day, state media KCNA said.

‘Anti-Semitism is rising,' says Asmongold, blaming it on 'Israel' and the way they respond to its related criticism

While speaking about it, he pointed to Israel's policies and the way the country handles all criticism, especially ones that are related to the conflict of Palestine. As per Asmongold, these are some of the factors that lead to the anti-semitism rise. Such comments made by Twitch streamer Asmongold during a recent broadcast drew both agreement and criticism across social media platforms. Asmongold points finger at Israel amidst rising Anti-Semitism Asmongold, during his recent broadcast, bluntly stated that there's a 'massive rise in anti-semitism.' He argued that the surge stems from varied factors, such as broader societal concerns like media messaging, mass immigration policies, and others. However, he placed a major emphasis on the role of Israel. It was specifically contended by the streamer that the conduct of Israel in Palestine, especially since the October 2023 conflict, severely damaged the Jewish people's perceptions globally. In the words of Asmongold, 'a lot of that anti-Semitism by is caused by Israel and the way that they treat any criticism of Israel as anti-Semitism.' Asmongold even acknowledged that Anti-Semitism did exist before, but as per his beliefs, recent events just amplified it. It created a much more hostile environment. Asmongold further went ahead to criticize what he perceived as the defensive strategy of Israel. He claimed that the supporters of the state, along with the state, often conflate the legitimate criticism of the Israeli government policies or the actions of the military as anti-Jewish bigotry. Such a tactic, according to Asmongold, backfires. Labelling diverse critiques to be anti-Semitic fuels resentment and offers a cover for genuine prejudice, allowing it to flourish. Echoing on to the topic and a lot of other factors, an X user said, 'You dont get to hate jews because a Jewish country's actions. I thought progressives would have learned how stupid this is around September 2001. But perhaps most weren't alive then.' Conversely, some strong criticism was even directed at figures like HasanAbi, who were referenced by Asmongold. The user said, 'Hasan and Mike are part of that rise, IMO. Calling Jews inbreds and a demonic ethnicity don't them any favors.' 'Hasan wants things to go there. His goal is the complete destruction of Israel and all Jews,' read another comment made against the streamer. Some even believed and openly expressed that both Asmongold and Hasan are now compromised. A user comment made in this regard read, 'both Asmon and Hasan are slaves to je*ish money.' The worst came in as the users started targeting Asmongold alone. A user made comment read, 'He should just come out and say he is Jewish, everybody knows already.' The other said, 'Elevating Asmongold as a voice against anti-Semitism is wild lmao His chat is chock full of nazis at all times.' 'Poor Asmongold. Has to be a TOS boy for Twitch instead of expressing his true feelings. His true feelings being the plain and simple fact that some cultures & religions are better than others,' read another comment. With all being stated openly out there, the one thing or rather a recurring point in here, was a need to separate political criticism from bigotry. The entire debate underscored the extreme difficulty in separating the Israel criticism related to the state's action from the prejudice against the people or the associated groups. While Asmongold and some of the users highlight how the Israeli policies, along with defensive reactions, might inflame the tensions, others have just been warning against allowing legitimate outrage over Gaza to become a conduit for age-old hatred. The core challenge here remains addressing the legitimate grievances without actually enabling the harmful stereotypes.
