Three Held For Selling Fake MCs In Sungai Petani
Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the group's modus operandi involved issuing MCs without the need for any medical consultation or treatment.
He said the case came to light during a probe into a breach of integrity involving a low-ranking police personnel who had frequently submitted MCs.
'This led to the discovery of the group selling fake MCs,' he told a press conference at the Kuala Muda district police headquarters here today.
According to him, during a raid on a premises in Taman Songket Indah near here at 4.30 am on June 26, police seized various items, including about 20 fake MCs, tablets, rubber stamps bearing the names of doctors, A4-sized paper, a laptop and a printer.
Hanyan said the three unemployed suspects, in their 30s and 40s, sold fake MCs for RM25 to RM30 a day, targeting civil servants as their primary 'customers'.
He said the main suspect was found to be a heart patient currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
'During each hospital visit, the suspect would note down the attending doctor's name and later use it on rubber stamps. Most of the names belonged to actual doctors, but the job titles were inaccurate,' Hanyan said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 468 of the Penal Code.

"Avoid making financial transactions through personal accounts or companies that are not legally registered," he said. Yesterday, Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim was reported to have said that his team is investigating a case involving the dissemination of pornographic videos by an independent preacher.

ALOR SETAR, July 6 (Bernama) – A family of six, including a six-month-old baby, are feared missing after their family members lost contact with them since Saturday. The disappearance of Mohd Azim Ezzat Ishak, 32, his wife Nurul Hidayah Khalijah Razman Effendy, 31, and their four children, aged between six months and nine years, was realised when they did not return to their home in Jerlun after spending the night at another family member's house in Taman Aman, Jitra. According to Mohd Azim Ezzat's younger sister, Nur Adliah Shuhada, in her 20s, her brother's family usually spent the night at her house on Fridays. "I thought they had returned to Jerlun because my brother, who works as a security guard, usually leaves early in the morning, and my sister-in-law runs a business. But when my brother's mother-in-law called and said they hadn't arrived home, I started to worry and tried to contact them but failed. "Then I received information about a Proton Saga car in Sungai Korok (in Jitra), but the licence plate number did not match my brother's car," she said here. Teacher killed by relative with history of mental illness
TUARAN: A teacher was found dead, believed to have been murdered by a close relative who reportedly suffers from mental health issues. The incident happened at an unnumbered house in Tenghilan here yesterday. The body of 41-year-old Celesty Christy Celestina Sili was discovered lying at the back of her family home. District police chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin said a team from the district police headquarters arrested the suspect on the same day. "Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a 47-year-old local man. The victim sustained injuries to the neck, head and both eyes caused by a sharp weapon," he said when contacted. Noraidin said the suspect is believed to have a history of mental illness and had previously received follow-up treatment at a health facility. "The motive is still under investigation, while the post-mortem examination was conducted today at the Queen Elizabeth I Hospital Forensic Unit. "The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, along with whipping, upon conviction," he added. Noraidin advised the public against speculating on the case and urged anyone with information to contact Tuaran police at 088-794313.
