'Dark fleet' tanker caught on fire after being struck in Persian Gulf

A massive oil tanker was left engulfed in flames after a crash with another vessel in the Persian Gulf close to Iran.
The MV Adalynn collided with another oil tanker, the MV Front Eagle, just south of the Strait of Hormuz, in the early hours of Tuesday.
All 24 crew on the Adalynn were evacuated by the United Arab Emirates coast guard to the port of Khor Fakkan.
There were no reported injuries on either of the vessels.
The crash is believed to have been caused by electronic interference which has affected navigation systems in the area.
This has surged in the area during the conflict between Iran and Israel and has disrupted navigation in the waterway between Iran and Oman which handles around a fifth of the world's seaborne oil.
But the UK Maritime Trade Operations monitor said there is no evidence that any hostile activity caused the collision.
Vessels have been warned by the organisation to take care going through the region.
The Adalynn is owned by India-based Global Shipping Holding Ltd and was sailing towards the Suez Canal in Egypt.
The owner of the Front Eagle vessel, Frontline, said it is investigating and there is no suggestion of outside interference.
The Front Eagle was en route to Zhoushan in China, according to monitoring service TankerTrackers.com, and was loaded with 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil.
In recent days, the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has intensified and the Strait of Hormuz is currently under Iranian control.
Iran has in the past threatened to close of the strait in retaliation against the west.
Some shipping companies have paused voyages in the water because of rising tensions, according to shipping sources.
In March, the MV Solong cargo ship crashed into the Stena Immaculate oil tanker in the North Sea which was carrying jet fuel for the US army.
Police arrested the Russian captain of the Solong on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

Tributes pour in for mum found strangled after husband charged with her murder
A popular mum who was found dead in her home has been remembered as 'beautiful inside and out'. Artist Isobella Knight, 32, was discovered by police at her semi-detached home in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, on Friday. Officers attended the property on Donnington Road after originally being called to reports of a car crashing into a nearby McDonald's restaurant. A post-mortem examination found mum-of-two Isobella, known as Izzy, had died as a result of pressure being applied to her neck. Her husband, Paul Knight, 35, has been charged with her murder. 'As Izzy grew up, she became a beautiful, gentle, quietly confident young woman who loved getting up early and seizing the day, had a strong network of friends, and gave birth to two girls who became her world. 'If anyone was born to be a mum, it was Izzy. She would go without to give her two girls the best possible life, and she took them to so many clubs and classes, including gymnastics, swimming, drama and dance.' Izzy worked as an artist after studying Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire and ran her own portrait business. Her mum added: 'She never had a bad word to say about anyone – she was truly beautiful inside and out, and she wouldn't hurt a fly. 'I want everyone to know that Izzy was so much more than a victim. She was a loving mother, a treasured daughter, a best friend in sister form, a talented artist, and a great friend.' Izzy's dad Tim, also issued a moving statement recalling his daughter as a 'totally devoted' mum. 'Being Izzy's dad has been the greatest joy, a pleasure and a privilege. She has been taken so tragically and now we must all somehow learn to live on without her,' he said.' More Trending 'As her family we respectfully continue to ask for privacy.' 87-year-old's five-word response to being arrested at Trump protest
One of the U.S. military veterans arrested for protesting President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. last week had a short and sweet response when he was asked how it felt to be cuffed at 87 years old. John Spitzberg was arrested during a veterans' protest against Trump's military parade to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Army on Friday in Washington, D.C. Footage captured by other protesters shows him being handcuffed by law enforcement outside the U.S. Capitol. According to local broadcaster WCJB, he and approximately 75 other protesters knocked over a bike rack and crossed a police line, after which many were arrested. Carolina Lumetta, a reporter for WNG who was at the scene and witnessed the arrest, said that rather than arresting him, police initially just returned back over the police line while other protesters were arrested. Spitzberg reportedly walked back across the line with the aid of his walker and told the offices he would rather stay with the protesters, even if it meant his arrest. After Spitzberg was released from custody, journalist Chuck Modio caught up with the veteran and asked him how it felt to be arrested at age 87. "I'm just beginning, my friend," Spitzberg replied. He added that he needed to "get a little sleep" before he starts protesting again. Spitzberg, who served in the US Air Force, told WCJB that he doesn't "wanna make more of it than it is," referencing the video of his arrest that went viral. 'All I knew is I had to be with my brothers and sisters who were being pummeled. That's all I knew, that they were being pummeled," he said. Spitzberg lives in a retirement home in Gainesville and was visiting the nation's capital for a work reunion party. He said he was disappointed to see police arresting the veterans at the Capitol. 'It feels like a betrayal of the Americans and other people who served this country for the purpose of keeping democracy, freedom," he told the broadcaster. He said he hopes that people who see the video focus less on him and more on the message of the protest. 'I'm really not the issue. The issue is what President Trump is doing,' Spitzberg said. 'I'm not a leader there. I don't wanna be a leader.' On the day of the protest, approximately 75 veterans gathered outside the Supreme Court wearing shirts that said "Veterans Against Fascism." Shortly after the group gathered, about 60 marches to the U.S. Capitol, where police had established a perimeter. That was the line that the protesters crossed before they were arrested. "A few people pushed the bike rack down and illegally crossed the police line while running towards the Rotunda Steps," Capitol Police said. "Our officers immediately blocked the group and began making arrests." Veterans for Peace explained the protest in a Friday Instagram post that said "approximately 60 veterans and military family members staged a sit-in on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to demand the military get off our city streets from LA to DC, and taxpayer money be directed towards real investments in housing, health care, and food — not political stunts or militarism."

'This guy, when I was younger, attacked me very, very, very violently, and I nearly died,' she said. 'And then I just said, 'I'm gonna go now.' And he said, 'Why?' I said, 'I find you quite boring.'' Paloma said it marked a personal victory: 'I felt like I'd conquered something.'
