His departure leaves a major void at Edward Waters, which had hoped to build on its recent momentum as a rising HBCU football program. For Morgan, the resignation marks the end of a transformative chapter that elevated both the team and the university within the broader world of Division II and HBCU football.
As Edward Waters prepares for the 2025 season, the team will have to compete under a new leader. EWU will open the season against Savannah State on Aug. 30.

They'll eventually have to pick one, and if Herbstreit has his way, it will be Carr that gets the nod. PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), a leading HBCU located in Texas, has announced the immediate end of its Men's and Women's Tennis programs. The move is part of a larger plan to reshape Panther Athletics for long-term stability and a better student-athlete experience. This decision follows a full review of the university's athletic programs. With college sports changing quickly, PVAMU and many other HBCU athletic departments must make hard choices to remain competitive while staying true to their mission. University leaders believe this change will help improve athletic facilities, grow student services, and ensure future progress. Scholarships will remain in place through graduation for those in good academic standing who choose to stay. Wide receiver Cederian Morgan (Alexander City, AL/ Benjamin Russell High School), the five-star prosect has officially accepted his invitation to the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl. Having been selected to play in the twenty sixth edition of the Navy All-American Bowl, Morgan will play in the annual East vs. West matchup on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
