Sandakan MP praises Sandakan District Tennis Association efforts

By: GL Oh Text Size: Silvester (second right) presents a memento to Tang. SANDAKAN: Sandakan District Tennis Association (SDTA) has received praise from Sandakan's Member of Parliament Vivian Wong. In her speech delivered by her representative Tang Shu Ching at the launch of the association's annual junior coaching clinic at the club house on Saturday, she appreciated their efforts in organising the programme that benefit the local residents especially school children, and she will continue to give her full support. SDTA's president Silvester Lawai, who expressed his gratitude to Wong for the constant support, said the programme would be held every Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to 6pm for the next 30 weeks. 'This year's programme will be a bit special because parents would also have the opportunity to practice while waiting for their children, 'he said. He also thanked development sub-committee chairman Adrian Tan and coaches Rohjan Md Daud, Iruwan Amboragang, Simon Wong, Johannes Belili and Stevie Alfie for their hard work to ensure the success of the launch as well as to all the sponsors for the support. Also present were Sabah Tennis Association's president Johnson Koh, Sandakan district education officer Ahmad Yusof and Salianah Sabrah from the Sandakan Ministry of Youth and Sports. KM Sports Complex still incomplete despite deadline extension

He urged the Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) to explain to the local community why the project remains unfinished despite being granted another deadline extension. Ex-Safa Kunak DP says football development in district has deteriorated

KUNAK: Citra Masadi, who used to be the Deputy President of Safa Kunak, said he stepped down from his role in the local football body over a year ago. Describing the announcement by Safa Kunak President, Dato' Sri Anil Sandhu, who resigned on Sunday, Citra said he was 'not surprised' by the president's withdrawal. Advertisement Anil made a statement last Sunday while attending the final match between Mostyn FC and Uncle Chang FC at the Kunak town field, organised by Safa Kunak. 'I resigned from the position of Deputy President earlier, in March last year, and after that, the district Safa continued to be managed by the existing committee members,' said Citra to the Daily Express in a brief message on Tuesday. Citra, however, did not elaborate further on the reasons for his action but noted that the development of football, particularly the teams in Kunak, has been deteriorating over the past year. Recently, Kunak ranked fourth in the men's team football qualification round for the Tawau zone in the 11th Sabah Games (Saga-XI) 2025. #SHOWBIZ: Yuna to Jojo Ghazali: Keep on fighting, many are still supporting you
KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Yuna recently offered words of encouragement to Malaysian Muay Thai champion, Johan Ghazali, also known as Jojo, who faced criticism after his recent match loss. The 38-year-old artiste commented on Jojo's Instagram post, urging him to persevere despite the criticism. Yuna added that the negative remarks came from only a small number of detractors, while most of his fans continued to show their support with kind and encouraging comments for the 18-year-old national athlete. "Keep fighting. Believe me, this condemnation is likely from that 10 per cent who have too much time on their hands to criticise people on social media," she wrote. "But there are many others who still have your back. You just have to keep on fighting. Do it for yourself and your family. We remain proud of you." Jojo recently lost to Colombian-American Diego Paez in an exciting bout at ONE Fight Night 32 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
