THE reason why Liam Delap snubbed Manchester United in favour of Chelsea has reportedly been revealed.
Delap, 22, is set to join the Blues and the deal could be announced as early as next week.

Chelsea will trigger the £30million buy option in the Ipswich striker's contract, which became available following their relegation from the Premier League.
The fee and personal terms were not going to be an issue for Man Utd - but Delap has opted for a move to Stamford Bridge instead.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that the player has chosen Chelsea due to their former boss Thomas Tuchel.
He claims that the England manager told Delap that playing in the Champions League would boost his chances of making the Three Lions squad heading to next summer's World Cup.
And those words appear to have helped him make up his mind.
Everton were also in for Delap, but like the Red Devils, they could also not offer European football.
Man Utd fans reacted: "Did Tuchel forget to tell him he needs to be actually playing in the Champions League not sitting on the bench."
Another added: "He made the wrong decision, if he performed as the main man in the United shirt he would definitely get the call up."

Delap scored 12 goals in 37 Premier League games for Ipswich this season.
He is set to battle the likes of Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins and Dominic Solanke to be Harry Kane's understudy at the World Cup.

Harry Kane greets Lewis Hamilton as England players take in Spanish Grand Prix

Captain Harry Kane, who led a large contingent of players at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya, greeted Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton before the race and offered his support for McLaren's Lando Norris. I am sure he is prepared to the best of his ability and then it's going out there and being free. He knows he can do it, he's won enough already so hopefully he can go all the way,' Kane told Sky Sports. 'I watch the F1 as much as I can and obviously a few English guys doing well this season, so I'm looking forward to seeing them.' Kane briefly caught up with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and George Russell of Mercedes before the ninth race of the 2025 season started at 2pm. Dan Burn was one of several England players shown around McLaren's garage, whilst Chelsea quartet Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer were in attendance after Wednesday's Europa Conference League success. Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bukayo Saka were also present. John Stones joined the squad too after it was announced earlier on Sunday that he would continue his rehabilitation from injury with the England squad in Spain. Stones has been sidelined since February with a thigh injury and is not fit enough to feature in this month's fixtures with Andorra and Senegal. However, the Manchester City defender has decided to link up with the national team for the first time since Tuchel took over, having last played for England in October and only managed 20 club appearances during another injury-ravaged 2024-25 campaign. Newcastle defender Burn has benefitted from the absence of Stones and made his long-awaited senior debut at the age of 33 against Albania in March. He is eager to catch the eye again in Saturday's Group K fixture with Andorra, which will take place at Espanyol's RCDE Stadium. Burn added: 'I'm hot, actually very hot but I'm excited though. First time I've been at the Formula One.' Asked about upcoming opponents Andorra, Burn insisted: 'I don't know about formality, they're all tough games but excited for another camp and another World Cup qualifier.'

Manchester United agree Matheus Cunha signing from Wolves

The Brazil forward has been in Manchester over the weekend to put the finishing touches to his move to Old Trafford, which is subject to a visa and registration. The 26 year-old, who has won 13 senior caps for Brazil, scored 18 goals in all competitions last season. Our first signing of the summer has been agreed 🇧🇷✍️#MUFC — Manchester United (@ManUtd) June 1, 2025 United had sought to negotiate with Wolves over the terms of Cunha's deal but last week met his £62.5million release clause and were given permission to start a medical. It is believed the former Atletico Madrid forward has agreed a five-year deal. A club statement read: 'Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. 'The Brazilian forward's signing is subject to visa and registration. Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford.' Wolves said the deal was a club-record fee received as they thanked Cunha 'for his contributions in old gold' in a statement confirming his departure. Matheus Cunha is joining Manchester United (Nick Potts/PA) Cunha had been a key target for the Red Devils as head coach Ruben Amorim looks to reshape the team on the back of the club's worst season in 51 years. The forward turned 26 on Tuesday, the same day that United were granted permission by Wolves to finalise a deal. He is now on his way to Brazil ahead of Friday's World Cup qualifier with Ecuador, which will be Carlo Ancelotti's first game in charge. Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and Ipswich striker Liam Delap are among other players of interest to United, but business has been made harder by the fact they failed to qualify for the Champions League, worth an estimated £100million. Meanwhile, former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has criticised some of the club's players for 'disrespecting' supporters following reports some players swore at fans on the post-season tour of Asia. David Beckham criticised some current Manchester United players (Toby Melville/PA) Beckham did not name any players or mention any specifics of the conduct in question as he compared the current team to the one he played for under Sir Alex Ferguson. 'I'm talking about sometimes the way players are acting,' Beckham said during 'Beckham and Friends Live,' an alternative live broadcast of the Champions League final on Paramount + 'You have to represent the badge and that's what it's about and I've seen a lot of things where players are not acting in the right manner. 'We were a part of a team that was so well-mannered. We understood what it meant to play for Manchester United. We understood what the badge meant. 'Wherever we travelled, whether it was in Europe, whether it was in Asia, you respected the fans. You respect the fans, you respect the fact that they're turning up, paying money and wanting you to sign and take pictures. 'I don't see that. I'm not saying it's all of the players. I'm saying it's one or two that are disrespecting that and I don't like that.'

Leeds SEND transport cuts 'target the most vulnerable'

Under the changes, children have been assessed by the council with some being awarded a Personal Transport Allowance or free bus Lorna said the £2,000 Josh had been awarded would "no way" cover the said: "It's going to have a huge effect. Josh is at a specialist school 11 miles away. He's been on school transport for the last eight years."The only option we're going to have is to take him ourselves. And that's just taken that little bit of independence he has away."The whole thing is targeting the most vulnerable people." According to campaign group Save Our School Transport, more than 1,000 children will be affected by the policy changes.A Leeds City Council spokesperson said it remained committed to supporting young people in accessing education. They said: "Transition arrangements are in place to ensure continuity for those currently in post-16 education who are receiving transport support under the current policy, unless there is a significant change in their circumstances, such as a change of address, learning setting or medical needs."While there is no statutory requirement to provide transport for learners in post-16 education, the council continues to offer discretionary assistance. "This may include a zero-fare travel pass, Independent Travel Training, or a banded Personal Travel Allowance."Families have the right to appeal any transport award decision." Ailith is mum to Thalia, who has Down's syndrome. She said she was concerned the policy changes would not meet children's needs."We were assured in conversations previously that the policy would be applied flexibly and that everybody's situation would be looked at and it feels like that hasn't happened," she mum to Lyall, said the £1,000 they had been awarded "doesn't compensate at all".She said: "Lyall found school transport completely overwhelming so I made the decision to drive him to school because we were offered 50p a mile."I've dropped five hours a week at work, which has had a massive financial impact on me."Some children just won't go to school. They are losing education and losing life skills." Una Summerson, head of policy and public affairs at Contact, a charity for families with disabled children, said school transport was "vital" for said: "In some cases it means young people can't continue with their education but often the responsibility falls to their parents and that can mean a parent has to reduce their hours, give up careers. It makes family life much more difficult and adds stress."Some families are being charged thousands for what was previously free provided transport, and this is having a massive financial impact on them when they have all sort of higher costs compared to other families."
