Beaubassin East man charged with first-degree murder: N.B. RCMP

A 29-year-old Beaubassin East, N.B., man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a homicide in the community.
A 67-year-old man was reported missing to the Shediac RCMP Saturday around 7:20 p.m. Police say the man was last seen on Collins Lake Road in Beaubassin East.
The man's body was located in a wooded area near his property early Sunday morning, according to police.
'Over the course of the investigation, police identified a person of interest and at 10:10 a.m. the same morning, a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation,' reads a news release from the New Brunswick RCMP.
Philippe LeBlanc appeared in Moncton provincial court Monday and was charged with first-degree murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing.

The 52-year-old man was arrested earlier this month and had initially been charged with 19 offences, primarily weapons and drug-related, before Barrie police announced the new charges on Thursday in connection with a homicide investigation. Additionally, the court read names of 29 people Ladouceur is prohibited from contacting, to which he replied, 'I don't even know who they are.' Police believe Ladouceur is responsible for the deaths of William 'Blake' Robinson, 45, and David Cheesequay, 41. They have not revealed a motive in the case or disclosed if it's drug-related. It's also unclear whether the men knew each other. Ladouceur remains in custody and is scheduled for his next court appearance on August 29. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.

Man charged with careless driving after 2 cyclists hit near Morden: Manitoba RCMP

A 35-year-old man has been charged with careless driving after two cyclists were hit along a highway west of Morden on Thursday, Manitoba RCMP say. Police responded to reports of a collision on Highway 3 near Road 31 West in the RM of Stanley, about 100 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg, on Thursday at 11:30 p.m., Pembina Valley RCMP said in a news release on Friday. Police said two cyclists — a 78-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman — were travelling west on Highway 3 when a vehicle hit them from behind. First responders were already on scene and helping the cyclists when officers arrived, RCMP said. Both cyclists were taken to hospital. The man suffered minor injuries and was released, police said. The woman remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP officers have charged a 35-year-old man from the RM of Stanley with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, according to the release. He was served a serious offence notice, police said. Pembina Valley RCMP are still investigating.
