Great Eastern Takaful Unveils i-Great Chinta, A Flexible Plan For Legacy Protection

Barnama05-05-2025
KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Takaful Bhd (GETB) has launched i-Great Chinta, a new protection plan aimed at individuals who want to leave a meaningful financial legacy for their loved ones.
In a statement today, GETB said the plan offers a minimum Basic Sum Covered of RM800,000 for death and total and permanent disability (TPD). It includes a loyalty benefit of up to 8 per cent of the annual contribution.
Designed with flexibility, i-Great Chinta reflects a growing demand for personalised financial planning aligned with Islamic principles.
GETB chief executive officer Shahrul Azlan Shahriman said the product was based on the theme Chinta Sejati, Sejuta Impian, symbolising emotional care and practical foresight.
'i-Great Chinta is more than a protection plan. It's about responsibility and future planning. Knowing your family's financial well-being is safeguarded even after you're gone offers peace of mind. That's the legacy we hope to help our customers build,' he said.
The plan also provides an additional death benefit for customers who pass away, not due to an accident, while performing Haj or Umrah.
Customers can also opt into the i-Saver Rider, which grows savings via Shariah-compliant investment funds and is payable upon certificate maturity.
GETB is running a campaign from 1 May to 1 July to mark the launch. It offers Basic Sum Coverage starting at RM500,000, with more affordable monthly contributions.
The company has also launched a digital advertising campaign using Hypergram technology at Sunway Pyramid Mall. The immersive, interactive display highlights the importance of Hibah (Islamic bequest) and legacy protection, aiming to raise awareness in a visually compelling way.

National Day unites Malaysians under Jalur Gemilang, says Loke

KLANG: Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted the National Day celebration as a unifying platform for Malaysians to express their love for the country through the Jalur Gemilang. He stressed that despite recent incidents of the flag being displayed upside-down, the focus should remain on its true meaning of unity. 'The Jalur Gemilang is our common flag, and National Day should unite Malaysians,' he said during the Port Klang Community Fly the Jalur Gemilang Programme. Loke added that national pride must be ingrained in daily life, particularly for the Port Klang community and logistics sector workers. He emphasised the critical role of the logistics sector in sustaining trade and preventing economic collapse. The event, held at the Port Klang Authority Social and Recreational Club, saw Loke distributing the national flag to 100 haulier drivers. He also outlined government plans to boost Port Klang's development, including a proposed third port at Carey Island. This initiative aims to reinforce Port Klang's status as one of the world's busiest ports, benefiting locals and driving economic growth. 'Port Klang and its community will continue to enjoy economic spillovers from various projects,' Loke said. He encouraged logistics industry players to contribute ideas and efforts towards national development. The minister hoped the campaign would inspire the Klang community to further advance Port Klang's progress. - Bernama

KMJG 2025 Convoy brings Merdeka spirit to Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR: The spirit of patriotism and unity filled the federal capital today as the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 convoy toured three parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur while proudly waving the national flag. The convoy, comprising 72 vehicles with 103 participants, was flagged off by Federal Territories Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Information Department (JAPEN WPKLP) director Associate Lt Col (PA) Sabarudin Yeop Hamzah from Wisma FGV here at about 8.40 am. 'This morning, JAPEN WPKLP, together with non-governmental organisations, parliamentary offices, government agencies and Suzuki V-Strom bikers, will tour three constituencies in the Federal Territory, namely Wangsa Maju, Cheras and Lembah Pantai,' he told Bernama before the flag-off. The four stopovers were Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) in Wangsa Maju, KWC Fashion Wholesale in Cheras, Institute of Teacher Education Malay Language Campus and McDonald's Pantai Sentral Park in Lembah Pantai. Along the route, the convoy drew public attention as participants waved the Jalur Gemilang from their vehicles and distributed mini flags to members of the public. Sabarudin said the nationwide tour, which began on July 27, is part of efforts to foster patriotism ahead of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations. 'This is a movement to remind Malaysians of their responsibility to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their premises proudly. One home, one Jalur Gemilang -- this is the manifestation of our love for the country,' he said. The convoy is supported by various government agencies and strategic partners, including the National Security Council, Fire and Rescue Department, BERNAMA, National Film Development Corporation, Road Transport Department and the Royal Malaysia Police. On July 27, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign at Dataran Tanjung Emas, Muar, Johor, before flagging off the KMJG 2025 convoy for its nationwide tour. The convoy will cover 88 stops, including 44 in Peninsular Malaysia, 20 in Sabah, 22 in Sarawak and two in Labuan, before concluding at Dataran Putrajaya, the venue for the National Day 2025 celebration, on Aug 31. - Bernama

RM20k boost for Penang Badminton Association

KUALA LUMPUR: The 100th anniversary celebration of the Penang Badminton Association was made more meaningful when CitaGlobal Berhad contributed RM20,000 to inspire the nurturing of more stars on par with legend Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei. Honorary Life President of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and Executive Chairman and President of CitaGlobal Berhad, Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria described Penang as still having 'unfinished business' in strengthening the national badminton ecosystem. 'That is why, as a badminton leader, I always value the leadership of Penang and throughout my seven years as president (of the Badminton Association of Malaysia), they have helped me greatly in leading the development of badminton not only in Penang but also across Malaysia. 'I think there is another so-called unfinished business. That is the setting up of a regional academy, and with this centenary celebration, it should basically be pursued. Because I think just having a centre like the Petronas Badminton Academy here, it will actually be more meaningful if we can also have a regional academy in Penang,' he told reporters after presenting the cheque at Akademi Badminton Malaysia, here today. Meanwhile, Penang Badminton Association president Datuk Kah Kau Kiak said Chong Wei has been appointed as the 100th Anniversary Ambassador and will enliven the gala night scheduled for Nov 22. Established in 1925, the Penang Badminton Association is the oldest state badminton association in Malaysia and continues to be a 'fertile ground' for producing champions, with Chong Wei remaining the symbol of its success. - Bernama
