Hype Malaysia07-05-2025
Malaysian visual effects (VFX) artist Mohamad Sofian, a.k.a Sofyank96, has worked with many talented stars who praised his work and talents. The content creator recently added another renowned collaborator to his portfolio – the one and only Tom Cruise.
Yesterday, Sofian shared a photo of himself with the Hollywood actor from their meeting in Tokyo. Tom is currently in Japan to promote his film, 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning'. In the photo, the VFX artist is seen happily posing alongside the actor and his friend, videographer Muhammad Shaffuan. Sofian expressed his happiness in the captions, writing, 'Alhamdulillah! We did it!'.
Following that post, the content creator shared a video of him meeting Tom on the red carpet. In the video, Sofian was visibly nervous about being face-to-face with the star. However, the two continue to share a few words before posing for a photo. Sofian took to the captions to thank the actor, saying he's a huge inspiration for the VFX artist. The 28-year-old also said that meeting and standing next to Tom was an honour and a lifelong dream come true.
It's believed that the meeting with Tom is part of Sofian and Shaffuan's collaboration with the movie to promote the upcoming film. The creative pair have previously hinted at the meeting, sharing teasers on social media. Sofian even wrote on his social media a day before the meeting, sharing that he'll film a VFX video with the Hollywood legend. Safe to say, his plans were successful, and the video is in the works.
Fans and netizens have reacted to the meeting, expressing excitement over the collaboration. Many congratulated Sofian on meeting his idol, adding they're proud of his latest achievement. Some also said they look forward to seeing Sofian and Shaffuan's video with Tom. Others said the content creator is the best example of an influencer, noting his hard work and dedication to his craft.
We'd also like to congratulate Sofian and Saffuan on the collaboration, and we can't wait to see the video. 'Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning' is the eighth instalment of the iconic blockbuster franchise and will be released in local theatres on 22nd May 2025.

Fahmi added that these efforts will be intensified to create more opportunities for local creative industry players. He made these remarks at the Riuh Hangout 2025 event organised by MyCreative Ventures, following the tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which highlights the creative economy as a key growth driver.
