Director Ashwin Kumar On Mahavatar Narsimha: ‘Our Gods Are The True Heroes Of Bharat'
Filmmaker Ashwin Kumar is on a mission—not just to make a movie, but to reawaken a cultural consciousness that he believes has been fading for generations. As the director of the upcoming mythological epic Mahavatar Narsimha, Kumar is steering a cinematic journey deeply rooted in India's spiritual and philosophical legacy, hoping to bring children and young adults closer to their Dharma.
'Since Bharat was colonized, we must end our mental colonization by reviving Shastric studies, even without the traditional Gurukul system," Kumar stated. 'It is crucial that the younger generation learns about the various darshans, perspectives, narratives, and themes of our theology and texts in schools. Parents today are busy, and children remain uneducated in these matters, often forming confused ideas and feeling disconnected or even ashamed of their own Dharma."
For Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha is more than a retelling of Lord Vishnu's fourth avatar—it's a tribute to the timeless wisdom of India's ancient scriptures. He envisions the film as a tool for cultural and spiritual revival, especially for those who have grown up in an educational system that rarely touches upon the country's rich mythological and theological heritage.
'Educating them properly will instill pride in our culture and heritage," he said. 'Our Mahavatar Narsimha represents this legacy, a tribute to our Shastras and Dharma, bringing them back to the mainstream. Our Gods are the true heroes, and by engraving their stories in the minds of the youth, we help them find pride, understanding, logical clarity, and inner peace through our sacred texts."
The film marks the beginning of a decade-long animated franchise presented by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions. The ambitious series will chronicle the ten divine avatars of Lord Vishnu, with the release roadmap laid out as follows: Mahavatar Narsimha (2025), Mahavatar Parshuram (2027), Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029), Mahavatar Dhawkadhesh (2031), Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033), and the two-part finale, Mahavatar Kalki Part 1 (2035) and Part 2 (2037).
Mahavatar Narsimha, produced by Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai under Kleem Productions and presented by the powerhouse Hombale Films, promises to blend visual spectacle with spiritual substance. Set to release in 3D and across five Indian languages, the film will hit theatres on 25th July 2025.

Meanwhile, Divya appears to be embracing a more balanced and reflective stage of life, as she is now married to businessman Apurva Padgaonkar. The couple tied the knot in February last year. Divya and Apurva had a traditional Marathi wedding ceremony in Mumbai. A few months ago, Divya and Apurva's divorce rumours surfaced on social media. However, reacting to these speculations, the actress clarified, 'I made no noise. I made no comments or stories. I deleted 2,500 posts. Yet the media chose to see and react only to my marriage. Addinath Kothare is thrilled to be a part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, a film he believes is among the biggest projects ever made in Indian cinema. The actor, who will portray Bharat, Lord Ram's devoted brother, expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity and praised the film's scale, vision, and writing. Sharing how special the film is to him, Addinath told Bollywood Hungama, 'It's a blessing yaar. It's the biggest film made on Indian soil. It's also one of the biggest films made globally today. To be a part of it, I am truly indebted to Mukesh Chhabra. He is the man who cast me and, of course, Nitesh sir for choosing me for the character of Bharat. And also Namit Malhotra sir who believed in me and entrusted me with such a big responsibility." For those unfamiliar with the epic, Bharat is one of the four brothers of Lord Ram, known for his unwavering loyalty and selflessness. Addinath noted that the scale and ambition of Ramayana are unlike anything he's seen before. Impressed by the makers' dedication, the actor revealed, 'They are amazingly clear of what their vision is. They are absolutely well-planned. They have spent almost 10 years in the pre-production of this project. Nitesh sir started the journey of scripting Ramayana since 2016 or 17 something. Also, Namit sir, Prime Focus and Nitesh sir have been working on the VFX and the pre-production started even before the lockdown, I think." Calling the film a masterclass in production planning, Addinath added, 'It's one of the most well-planned cinema on Indian soil, I think. We are fortunate enough to witness this from close quarters. And I am really fortunate to have got this opportunity in such a big film, not just as an actor, filmmaker, human being, but just to get to witness this humongous scale of film production. No film school can teach you this." He also revealed that the script itself blew him away. 'I was blown away when I heard the screenplay. Now, the display, production value, VFX and detailing; all this is just a cherry on the cake. It is one of the finest scripts I have read, to be honest."
