Taylor Swift Starts a Fall Color Trend to Match Her "Next Era"
Taylor Swift ended her official Eras Tour book note to readers last December with a cryptic invitation: "See you next era..." she wrote. All these months later, it's apparently time for Swifties to RSVP for the singer's twelfth studio album. Swift has even provided a dress code that's sure to start a fall color trend in the process.
On August 11, Swift's official fan account, Taylor Nation, posted twelve photos of the Grammy-winner on Instagram. Every single shot was taken during the Eras Tour. While the photos display Swift wearing a variety of custom costumes by Roberto Cavalli, Versace, and Etro, one thing is consistent: Each photo shared comes in a sorbet shade of orange-y pink, like an early September sunset.
Taylor Swift fans are known for making cryptic messages out of everyday outfit choices, but this look back at her tour wardrobe is definitely a sanctioned clue. Swift's team captioned the photos, "Thinking about when she said 'See you next era...'" alongside a flaming heart emoji.
Taylor Swift is known for pairing each of her albums with a matching wardrobe palette, onstage and off. During the Eras Tour, she tapped her favorite designers to translate those chapters into costumes (with 250 pairs of custom Christian Louboutin shoes to match). While some albums came with specific colors—Red was always red, of course—other had a palette allowing Swift to change her exact outfit from show to show. Several of her albums, including Lover, Evermore, and 1989, were accompanied by bright orange and orange-pink outfits. Swift also returned to her tour last fall with a high-low dress for her acoustic set cast in the same tones of nectarine orange and peach.
In between shows, Swift also laid the groundwork for album twelve's look. While out with Travis Kelce in London, she wore a crochet dress and Gucci heels in the same shades of light orange and dusty lavender. Fans associated it with the retro, '70s-inspired look of her Midnights album at the time. Paired with the costumes in this "next era" teaser post, it reads like a sign of what's to come.
Swift's wardrobing choices are just as influential as her all-around presence. Her tour sparked a bona fide beaded bracelet trend, and her Tortured Poets Department fashion is singlehandedly responsible for a corset top resurgence. Trust that when album twelve is made official, it will start a run on pieces in the same color family—even if runway color trends for fall are leaning more muted and minimalist.
All signs point to Taylor Swift announcing her twelfth album in the coming weeks (if not days). For now, I'll be thinking about what this "next era" could sound like—and adjusting my fall color palette accordingly. Who else can't wait to see her next era?

Sydney Sweeney wears denim in social media return, but doesn't address American Eagle ad
Sydney Sweeney returned to Instagram this week (in denim), but she didn't address her controversial American Eagle ad. The "Euphoria" star, 27, took to the social media platform Aug. 13 to promote her 2023 film "Americana" which is now airing in select theaters two years after it was first released. Sweeney – who plays an aspiring country singer Penny Jo Poplin in the flick – captioned the post, "A few years ago I filmed this little movie with some friends and now you get to meet penny jo." She then posted a photo carousel Aug. 15 on the film's release day with a behind-the-scenes look at her personal life, posing in blue denim jeans and a white top. American Eagle breaks silence on Sydney Sweeney jeans ad controversy "Duval diaries," she captioned the post, seemingly a nod to Duval County, Florida. Sweeney owns a home in the state. The images included Sweeney with a group of men and platter of alcoholic shots, posing with a separate group of women, and preparing to sing karaoke with a friend. The Hollywood star has remained mum on the ad backlash, avoiding any public statements to the press or her fans about the incident. On Aug. 1, American Eagle spoke out and doubled down on their ad after days of discourse about the ad campaign in an Instagram post. "'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We'll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way," the statement read. "Great jeans look good on everyone." USA TODAY reached out to reps for Sweeney for comment. The marketing campaign courted controversy after social media users argued that the phrase "great genes" paired with a blond-haired, blue-eyed star echoed eugenic ideas — the discredited belief in improving humanity through selective breeding. In one of several videos for the campaign, Sweeney, clad in a denim-on-denim fit, dabbles in some wordplay, telling cameras: "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color." "My jeans are blue," Sweeney said in the video. The fall 2025 denim campaign ends each promotional video with the tagline, "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans." Contributing: Caché McClay

Taylor Swift Promises Showgirl Will Stay at 12 Songs — & Fans Think She's Addressing Something Bigger
Taylor Swift is putting her foot down on her next era — at least for now. During her New Heights podcast appearance alongside Travis Kelce earlier this week, Swift made a point to clarify that The Life of a Showgirl, her forthcoming 12th studio album, will feature exactly 12 songs. No deluxe edition teased, no bonus tracks hinted at, no endless carousel of vinyl colorways. Just 12. For a star who's been both celebrated and criticized for her multi-edition rollouts, the comment landed with extra weight. On Reddit, fans immediately connected it to backlash Swift has faced in recent years, particularly during The Tortured Poets Department. That album not only arrived as a surprise double release but also came with a flood of vinyl variants — a strategy that drew fire for both its cost to fans and its environmental footprint. More from SheKnows 13 Showgirl-Orange Pieces That'll Get You Ready for Taylor Swift's Latest Album & Era - Starting at Just $10 'I actually believe this on the basis that a lot of this album and its concept seem to be a response to the criticism of TTPD,' one fan wrote. 'Overly verbose, overly long, overly overwrought lyrics on TTPD to a tight 12 track pop album sounds about right.' Another added more bluntly: 'TTPD had way too many songs and all the variants was ridiculous.' The shift isn't just coming from Swift, either. In April 2025 — about a year after the TTPD variant avalanche — Billboard finally stepped in, capping the number of editions that can count toward the charts at four. It was a clear move to stop the cycle of endless covers, bonus tracks, and bundle tricks that made fans feel squeezed and critics cry 'manipulation.' As one fan put it, 'I hope this means the variants that are out now are the only ones, and she took the criticism of 'variant overload' to heart. The planet thanks her.' This isn't the first time Swift's release strategy has been tangled in larger debates. In May 2024, she dropped new editions of TTPD the day before Billie Eilish's latest album, prompting speculation that Swift was responding to Eilish's public critique of wasteful vinyl practices. Whether intentional or not, it solidified Swift's reputation as an artist unafraid to multiply her product lines — much to the dismay of eco-conscious fans. Now, the deliberate simplicity of Showgirl feels pointed. 'Do you guys think she will release a variant every few weeks for the next five months?' one commenter asked. 'I hope she doesn't. That felt very very greedy to me.' Another said they were simply relieved: 'I STILL haven't gotten a hold of everything from TTPD or Midnights. The oversaturation just makes me feel like I'm missing out.' Of course, Swifties are also reading the numbers. Twelve isn't random in Swift's world: it's her 12th album, arriving on October 3, and fans have long pointed out her love of numerology and coded significance. 'This era is filled with her listening to criticism,' a Redditor argued. 'I would put money on her not adding ANY songs to the album. She would not have said that unless she was certain.' Whether The Life of a Showgirl truly stops at 12 tracks remains to be seen. But for now, Swift's bluntness suggests a new kind of restraint — and fans can't help but wonder if the message is as much about the music as it is about the criticism that's followed her. And, if you're looking for signs, it doesn't hurt that her pared-back new era officially arrives on October 3 — a date forever immortalized in Mean Girls. For Swifties, it might just be another wink that she knows exactly what she's doing. Before you go, click to see all of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's cutest PDA moments. Selena Gomez Shares Candid Summer Photos With Benny Blanco and More
THE RUNDOWN On Friday, Selena Gomez shared a new carousel of photos on Instagram from her summer, including intimate photos at home and with her fiancé, Benny Blanco. The carousel opened with a stunning picture of Gomez in a pale pink slip with red lace detail around the neckline and hem. She had her hair down and wore a pair of red frame glasses. In the background, Gomez appeared to be watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother. In the photo with Blanco, Gomez is having dinner outside with the music producer and their friends, enjoying a massive plate of oysters and prawns, as well as some cold white wine. The singer included shots promoting various Rare Beauty products, plus scenes from working at home and hanging with pals in the backyard and at events. It seems like it has been a spectacular few months for the Only Murders in the Building star. In the comments, Blanco wrote, 'wait … i'm gonna marry u.' Last weekend, Gomez shared photos with Blanco at the wedding of friends Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco. Blanco worked with Dave star Lil Dicky on his show and they have remained close friends. For the event, Gomez wore a sleeveless red halter dress with a mock turtle neckline and a fuzzy black coat. Blanco wore a dark blue suit over a black button-down, open at the neck to reveal his layered gold necklaces. Gomez captioned her carousel of pictures from the ceremony and reception: 'About last nights wedding 💒' She and Blanco have been engaged since December 2024, but on the August 7 episode of the podcast Therapuss with Jake Shane, Gomez shared that the wedding is not happening anytime soon. 'There's so much happening at the moment,' she explained. 'He's working on some projects that he has to wrap up, and we just have things we want to finish and our own personal endeavors before we get into all the nitty-gritty. I just have really never felt so sure about something, and I also don't want to jinx it by saying that.'
