GERWYN PRICE has lost more than two stone in weight this year – though he may scoff a McDonald's meal if he retains the Australian Darts Masters.
The Welshman, 40, cuts a much slimmer figure these days after shedding the pounds over the past eight months.

The Iceman, a father of two, decided to go on a drastic health kick and is feeling the benefits on the oche.
Price, a former rugby league hooker, says his dramatic body transformation is here to stay and the result of fitness and eating healthier food.
Though he claims he played 'rubbish' in patches during a 6-3 win over erratic Australian Joe Comito, the world No.6 is hoping to defend this World Series of Darts event in Wollongong.
He said: 'I think I have lost between 13-15kgs. About two stone.

'It is through dieting, getting back in the gym, looking after myself.
'I don't think it affects me physically when I'm throwing but mentally it definitely helps. I feel comfortable.
'I'm in some smaller clothes. I feel better in myself. Mentally it's a lot better.
'I tried to squeeze into a large size a little bit too soon but after a month or two, I was able to fit into it. It was alright then.

'Is this a long-term approach? I am not sure. I have started craving McDonald's now and again.
'I was having one at 6.30am. So, give it another month, if I keep doing that, it will be back on!'
Gerwyn Price says he had to control his emotions whilst playing against Daryl Gurney
Price – who smashed Luke Littler 8-1 in the 2024 final Down Under – wore an Aussie gold-coloured shirt to try and win over the home fans.
It has been a difficult trip for him to the other side of the world and he is not yet operating on the correct time zone.
The former world champion said: 'The sleeping patterns ain't what I want it to be at the minute.
'I was up really early today. Even in the practice room, I didn't really feel it. It's difficult to shrug off the jetlag.
'I'm still stuck on UK time. I'm sleeping all day and awake all night.
'If I stay awake quite late tonight then the jetlag will be gone, which will be good. I need a good night's sleep ahead of Saturday.
'I wear a different shirt whenever I go, in the Premier League and World Series of Darts events. I choose the colours. I picked this one.
'Looking back to 2024, since I have had my Tour Card that was probably the worst season I've had. I was absolute rubbish.
'So, The final of the Australian Darts Masters was a good game. I watched it back on the TV a couple of times in the practice room.
'I thought to myself, I have dropped a couple of pounds since then, haven't I?'

Harry Maguire tells Man Utd new boys to prepare to be hated as he reveals why club was so bad last season

England man has given a brutal assessment of last season's squad HATERS' CLUB Harry Maguire tells Man Utd new boys to prepare to be hated as he reveals why club was so bad last season Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HARRY MAGUIRE told Manchester United's new boys to pretend they are still kicking a ball around in the playground. The England defender has spent the last six years at Old Trafford and knows the pressure of the red shirt can be too much for some players. 4 Maguire has told his new pals what it will take to be a success Credit: Getty 4 Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha have a big job on their hands Credit: Getty Play Dream Team now! Striker Benjamin Sesko and fellow forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have joined this summer as part of a £200million spending spree. That has got fans excited ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, which they begin on Sunday with a clash against old rivals Arsenal. However Maguire — appearing on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast — believes stars who arrive at the Theatre of Dreams have to be able to handle the heat . . . no matter how good they are. They will also have to cope with the fact everyone will hate them because they play for the Red Devils. 'You've got to thrive off the pressure and you've got to play like you're playing in a playground — and that's what we've struggled to find over the last ten years. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK 'There has been a transition period, obviously. When Alex Ferguson was here, we had the best team by far and won all the trophies. 'But in the transition period at the moment, the reality is that we're not the best team. 'It's how people and how the lads can adapt to that level of scrutiny and to keep going through that scrutiny. 'Bruno Fernandes is a perfect example. He doesn't care what anyone thinks and he believes in his ability — and shows it on the pitch.' Behind the scenes of Benjamin Sesko's first day at Man Utd, from meeting team-mates to interview Maguire's advice to the summer signings would be to make sure they have good people around to support them during the difficult periods. And do not go assuming that you have made it — because things can turn very quickly when you are a United player. He said: 'I see a lot of players at Manchester United break through in one or two years. 'And then, after the second year, you start getting questioned and the form dips a little bit. It happens so much. 'It's really important to have good support around you, good family around you. But obviously, some players come from different countries and don't have that. 'So the main thing I always say is that you can only do what you can do. And on the football pitch, you get judged. 'And when you play for this club, everything gets analysed. Every goal that goes in the back of the net is someone's fault. 'You do become used to it. But for a young boy coming into it, when you're a young boy, you have no fear. 'And then, once you make a couple of mistakes, after a couple of seasons, people then start expecting things from you. 'And then that is when the real test comes.' 4 Amorim will be hoping his new signings will give him something to cheer about Credit: The Times Some fans have ended up scratching their heads over why 64-cap Maguire plays so much better for the national team than he does for his club side. And the defender believes it is for a similar kind of reason, adding: 'There's more scrutiny on Manchester United, just because more people in the country hate them. And that's just a fact. 'Everyone in the Premier League dislikes Man United and they don't want to see them do well. So there is more scrutiny on Manchester United, whereas England, everyone gets together. 'And England's another story. What happens with England is when you get over 30, the fans start to think 'get out'. 'They want to play these young guys who are coming through who have amazing highlights on Twitter and things.' We couldn't run hard enough. We didn't win enough duels. Harry Maguire on shambolic season Maguire believes that United were not physically up to challenging in the Prem last season — as evidenced by their 15th-place finish — but hopes it will be different this time around. Boss Ruben Amorim has had a full pre-season and will also have plenty of blank midweeks to work on the training ground with no European football. Maguire, who started his career at Sheffield United and played for Hull and Leicester before moving to United in 2019, said: 'We want to be challenging at the top. We have a lot of talent in the squad obviously and the players we've brought in are going to improve us massively. 'And it's really good that we've had a full pre- season to work under this manager. He spoke about it a lot last season that we just didn't have a chance to train. 'When he first took over, I think the physicality of our squad wasn't good enough for the Premier League. 'We couldn't run hard enough. We didn't win enough duels. He's realised that now we have got a full pre-season and I think the lads are looking leaner and sharper. 'We now have good competition for places and I'm sure they'll bring in a couple more. But it's looking a lot brighter.' The £85m defender also gave a ringing endorsement to Fernandes — the man who took the captain's armband off him two years ago. He revealed: 'I said to Bruno, if I had to give it away to anyone — which I didn't want to — he'd be the man to take the club forward. 'He is a great player and leader.' Ex-Celtic boss facing BANKRUPTCY after racking up huge unpaid debts of £1.5million

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A FORMER Celtic manager is facing bankruptcy again - just two years after he last fended off the threat of financial ruin. Despite a glorious playing career his spell at Celtic didn't go well and since retiring from playing he has multiple run-ins with HMRC. Sign up for the Celtic newsletter Sign up 3 John Barnes had an ill-fated spell as Celtic's head coach Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 3 But he is a cult hero for England, Watford, Liverpool and Newcastle Credit: Getty 3 He has also been a pundit in his time since retiring Credit: Getty Ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and England hero John Barnes was on the receiving end of a petition lodged at the High Court today by the tax authorities. It was filed close to two months after it emerged Barnes had racked up more than £1.5 million in debts at his media company, John Barnes Media Limited. That included almost £800,000 due to HMRC. The most recent liquidators' report on his media firm showed he owed HMRC £776,878 in unpaid VAT, NI and PAYE. The 61-year-old was banned from being a company director for more than three-and-a-half years in 2024, after his company failed to pay more than £78,000 in corporation tax between August 2018 and January 2020. And the business was found to have failed to pay nearly £200,000 in corporation tax and VAT combined during that 18-month period, following a report by the Insolvency Agency. Barnes also owed unsecured creditors £461,849, a directors loan worth £226,000, and liquidators' costs amounting to £56,535. The cult hero winger, who won two league titles and two FA Cups at Anfield, has staved off multiple previous bankruptcy petitions since 2010. He last avoided going bust in May 2023 after settling a personal-tax bill of more than £200,000. Another petition lodged against him was dismissed in court later that same year. Rangers could soon be TEN points behind Celtic fears Kris Boyd - plus Plzen preview In the most recent case, Barnes has paid back £60,000 in instalments, according to the liquidators' report. Mike Smith, chief investigator at the Insolvency Service, said: "Individuals and businesses not paying the tax they should deprives the Government of the funding it needs to provide vital public services and investment in areas such as schools, hospitals and roads. "John Barnes had a legal duty to ensure his company paid the correct amount of corporation tax and VAT. Instead, it paid no tax whatsoever between November 2018 and October 2020, despite receiving earnings of well over £400,000. "This disqualification should serve as a deterrent to other directors that if you do not pay your taxes while directing money elsewhere, you are at risk of being banned." Barnes, who had an ill-fated spell as Celtic manager between 1999 and 2000, set up his media business in 2012. He also managed Jamaica and Tranmere Rovers and has appeared as a pundit since hanging up his boots. Between November 2018 and October 2020 (the period in which close to £200,000 of unpaid debt to HMRC was accrued), the company had a turnover of £441,798. The Insolvency Service said nothing was paid to HMRC in tax during that period, despite the company filing returns showing what the VAT payments should have been. An investigation found that not only had the company failed to pay £78,839 in that period but also failed to pay £115,272 in VAT between February 2019 and 2020. The company ceased trading in January 2020 and it later entered liquidation. Barnes has previously declared he "doesn't like dealing with taxes". He admitted so to The Telegraph back in 2009 after he saw a bankruptcy order against him rescinded following what he called a "tax oversight". Barnes said then: "I don't like dealing with taxes of course. "I just hate not having enough money. Apart from that, I don't like dealing with bills and never have done. I let my wife Andrea deal with them. I don't even like opening them. A few times my credit card has been declined when I've been travelling abroad. "Then I have to get creative about paying the bill and have to really root around. That's much more satisfying than just having it come easily."
