JD Vance on Perpetual Holiday? His Latest Britain Trip Stirs Protests | Firstpost America | N18G US Vice President JD Vance is on a working visit to Britain, combining official meetings with leisure activities. He began his trip at the Chevening estate in Kent with British Foreign Minister David Lammy, where the two held a bilateral meeting and went fishing. Vance later travelled to the Cotswolds village of Dean, where local protesters staged a 'Not Welcome Party' in nearby Charlbury, voicing opposition to his politics. His visit includes planned meetings with Conservative politician Robert Jenrick and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Trump Wants Tourists from Malawi, Zambia to Pay $15,000 in US Visa Bonds Firstpost Africa

Trump Wants Tourists from Malawi, Zambia to Pay $15,000 in US Visa Bonds | Firstpost Africa | N18G The Trump administration is implementing new policies that are making it increasingly difficult for African nationals to travel to the United States. A one-year pilot programme will require travellers from Malawi and Zambia to pay a visa bond of up to $15,000 to deter overstays. These two countries were chosen due to their higher visa overstay rates, although the number of travellers from these nations is relatively small. Earlier in July, the Trump administration also announced that nearly all non-immigrant and non-diplomatic visas issued to citizens of Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Nigeria will be limited to a single entry and a three-month validity period. These measures come amid Trump's broader anti-immigration stance and a pattern of hardening US policy towards Africa. See More

The government has not yet revealed the total number of applicants. The Qurrah is expected to be conducted on August 13 at 11.30 am in the Committee Room, Haj Committee of India, Haj House, Mumbai. The session is scheduled to be livestreamed online and will be published on the Committee's website ( The committee also said that it will publish the list of provisionally selected and waitlisted applicants on its official website, with notifications also sent via SMS. All provisionally selected pilgrims must pay the advance Haj fee of Rs 1,52,300 by August 20, 2025. Haj 2026 pilgrims will have 17 designated embarkation points for their journey, which include Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, among others. Apart from the existing 17 embankment points, Vijayawada has recently been added to the list. For the first time, the Haj Committee of India is offering a shorter, 20-day Haj package for pilgrims, as part of the guidelines released for Haj 2026. A maximum of 10,000 pilgrims will be selected for the shorter Haj package, while the rest of the pilgrims will follow the traditional 40-45 day schedule. If applications for the short-duration pilgrimage exceed the 10,000 limit, a lottery system will be used to determine selection.
