'Yours forever' - Diogo Jota's wife's heartbreaking posts after Liverpool icon's tragic death
Rute Cardoso has kept a low profile since the death of her husband Diogo Jota and brother-in-law Andre Silva, yet she is expected to be at Anfield on Friday as Liverpool host Bournemouth

Liverpool's Premier League game against Bournemouth on Friday night is set to be an emotional affair, following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva, 25, just over a month ago.

Anfield will also welcome Jota's wife, Rute Cardoso, and their three children for Liverpool's first league fixture of the new season. Jota and his brother sadly lost their lives in a car accident near Zamora in Spain on July 3, leaving the football community in a state of mourning.

Rute, who started dating Jota in 2013 and married him just 11 days before his untimely death, has largely chosen to grieve privately and has not spoken publicly since the devastating incident.

Here, Wales Online provides a detailed look at the tributes Cardoso has made, as she prepares for her return to Anfield.
Attending Anfield
While Reds fans will be delighted to see the Premier League champions back in action, the occasion will also be an emotional one for those inside Anfield and watching on TV, reports the Mirror.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed in his programme notes that Rute and her three children, Dinis, Duarte and the youngest child, whose name has not been shared publicly, will be in the stands to watch Liverpool's opener.

"I believe that Diogo's wife, his children and his family will be in attendance," Slot wrote. "And it is important that, as a club, we show that they will always have our love and support as they deal with this most tragic of situations. We are there for them always."
A moment of silence will also be held at all Premier League matches this weekend, with players wearing black armbands. Messages and images will also be shown on the big screens in stadiums for the late Liverpool forward.
Anfield floral tribute
Rute has visited Anfield before, following the deaths of Jota and Andre Silva. On July 11, Rute and relatives of Jota and Andre Silva were joined by the Liverpool team as they toured the countless floral displays laid in remembrance of the siblings.

Liverpool FC's official Instagram page shared photographs from the visit. The caption read: "Our squad and staff paid their respects to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva at Anfield today, alongside members of the brothers' family."
Helping pallbearers at the funeral
The joint funeral service for Jota and Andre Silva took place on July 5 in Gondomar, Portugal. Family members, friends and teammates, past and present, were in attendance.

The caskets were brought into the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar church. Overwhelmed by sorrow yet determined to assist, Rute was clearly in an intensely emotional condition whilst helping the coffin bearers with the brothers' caskets.
This followed her journey with Jota's body back to Gondomar, prior to the funeral. Jota and Rute first met in Gondomar as teenagers, and she wanted to accompany her husband back to where their love story began.

Anniversary post
Rute has not yet spoken publicly at length about the loss of her husband and brother-in-law. However, she did share a poignant post on Instagram of her June 22 wedding to Jota.
The photos featured a close-up of the couple holding hands, their wedding rings clearly visible. Two other images captured the couple sharing their first dance as man and wife. Translated from Portuguese to English, Rute wrote: "One month of our 'until death do us part'. Forever, Your bride."
Her latest social media post
The couple frequently used Instagram to express their love for each other. Just days before his passing, Jota posted a video of their wedding day, captioning it: "A day we will never forget."

Rute's last Instagram post before her husband's death also centred around their wedding. Ahead of her return to Merseyside, Rute took to the social media platform again, posting a photo of Jota and one of their children at Lake Windermere to her Instagram story.
She captioned it: "My perfect kind of birthday", accompanied by two pink hearts. While it's unclear if Friday is Rute's birthday, it shows how she uses the platform to keep her husband's memory very much alive.

Moyes confident hungry Jack Grealish can bring excitement back to Everton

David Moyes has said Jack Grealish's determination to relaunch his career and prove people wrong in the process convinced him that the Manchester City outcast could bring excitement back to Everton. Grealish is 'looking fabulous, in great shape' and in contention to feature in Everton's Premier League opener at Leeds on Monday, according to Moyes, despite not playing in pre‑season having fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola. The 29-year-old started only seven league games for City last season and was left out of their 27-man squad for the Club World Cup this summer. He was also omitted from the England squad last summer for the European Championship after losing his place following City's 2023 treble-winning campaign. Moyes 'tried to get as much information as I could' on Grealish's problems at City, although he has not spoken to Guardiola about what occurred, but says the player's hunger to recapture the form that made him Britain's first £100m footballer banished any doubts over the loan. 'The knowledge that he thinks he's got a little bit to prove and to stand up,' the Everton manager said on what convinced him to sign the England player. 'I've had to do that myself. I've had to come back from being knocked down. Sometimes you have to have that resilience to bounce back, to fight back and to show everybody. I just sense Jack is carrying that with him now. I hope it shows through this season because, if it does, then we'll get a lot of good things from Jack.' Grealish was Everton's sixth summer signing – a seventh soon followed in the goalkeeper Tom King – but the squad remains light in several departments with various transfer targets missed. Moyes believes the legacy of recent relegation scraps and no European football has deterred some players but, with Grealish on board, Everton have stated their ambitions clearly. 'It is a big thing for me,' Moyes said. 'The club have done brilliantly to build a new stadium. I think now there has to be a building of a football club back inside it, to get it back to where it was and more importantly to get the team back to where it was. We are a long way off at the moment. I don't think we can do that in this window and make the team what we want it to be, but we are going to need people along the journey to make it more exciting and make people want to come and play. Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football after newsletter promotion 'Whether that is through high-profile players or our league position or how we are playing, we are needing some of them to give us a lift now. There's been quite a few players who I've been disappointed have not chosen to come to Everton this summer and I think that's because, if you look at the last four or five years, we've not been in great shape. Hopefully they are beginning to see a new stadium, great results in the second half of last season, and they start to believe Everton is a good home for them.'
