WI Vs PAK: West Indies Announce 15-Member Squad For ODI Series Against Pakistan
West Indies named a 15-member squad for the ODI series against Pakistan in Trinidad, led by Shai Hope. Romario Shepherd returns, aiming to boost their 2027 World Cup qualification.
West Indies have announced a 15-member squad for the ODI series against Pakistan, with the three-match tournament scheduled to be played in Trinidad.
The squad, led by Shai Hope, includes several young players who have been key for the Windies recently and sees the return of dynamic all-rounder Romario Shepherd. Shepherd is rejoining the West Indies ODI side for the first time since the series against Bangladesh last year.
Eighteen-year-old wicket-keeper-batter Jewel Andrew, who debuted in ODIs against Sri Lanka last year, has retained his place after featuring in the ODI series in England earlier this summer. Left-arm pacer Jediah Blades, who earned his first cap against Bangladesh in 2024, has been recalled. Amir Jangoo, who scored a memorable century on his ODI debut against Bangladesh last year, also retains his spot after playing against Ireland in May.
The West Indies are coming into the series following a 2-1 T20I series loss at home. Head coach Daren Sammy believes the series provides an opportunity to solidify their qualification for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
'Pakistan presents a different test and challenge as we continue our push for automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup," Sammy was quoted as saying.
'While qualifying is our immediate goal, maintaining a winning mentality and team cohesion is essential for long-term success. The upcoming matches against teams like Pakistan, who are ranked higher, provide crucial opportunities to earn valuable ranking points to improve our standing ahead of the World Cup," he added.
West Indies are currently ranked 10th in the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings, while Pakistan are positioned fourth, below India, New Zealand, and Australia.
What Is West Indies Squad For Pakistan ODI Series?
Shai Hope (c), Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Justin Greaves, Amir Jangoo, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd.

Harry Brook Takes Incredible Flying Catch In Hundred, Video Goes Viral
Last Updated: Brook is leading the Northern Superchargers in the 2025 edition of The Hundred. In his first match of the new season, he scored an unbeaten 25 runs as a No. 4 batter. England's white-ball captain Harry Brook, after starring with the bat in the five-match Test series against India, is now playing in the Hundred. He took the field for Northern Superchargers on Thursday (August 7) against Welsh Fire at Headingley in Leeds and scored an unbeaten 25 runs from just 15 balls to help his side win the contest by 8 wickets. Before coming out to bat at No. 4 in the 144-run chase, 26-year-old Brook made headlines in the game for his super fielding effort. On the 88th ball of the match, he completed an incredible flying catch of Saif Zaib off Imad Wasim's bowling. In a video going viral on the internet, Northern Superchargers captain Brook can be seen flying and taking an unbelievable catch with his right hand. Brook, who succeeded Jos Buttler as England's white-ball captain in May 2025, would like to come up with good performances with the bat and on the field as well in the coming matches for the Northern Superchargers and help them end their wait for their first-ever Hundred title. Brook played all five Tests for England in the 2025 edition of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and, with the help of two centuries (158 and 111) and as many fifties (99 and 53), scored a total of 481 runs in nine innings. He scored 99 runs in the first innings of the series opener played at Headingley from June 20 to 24 but got out for a duck in the second innings. In the second Test, he hammered 158 runs in the first innings and added 303 runs for the sixth wicket with wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith (184*) but failed to help his side from losing the match by a record margin of 336 runs in Birmingham. In the third and fourth Tests, Brook was not able to contribute much with the bat and got out for scores of 11, 23 and 3 runs, but in the fifth and final Test, which was played from July 31 to August 4, he impressed with his batting in both innings. In the first, he scored 53 runs from 64 balls to help the English team take a crucial lead of 23 runs, and in the second, he hammered 111 runs from just 98 balls after coming out to bat at No. 5 in the 374-run chase. For his superb batting performances in the first home series of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, Brook won England's Player of the Series award. view comments First Published: August 08, 2025, 07:21 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
