HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An Evansville woman has been sentenced after being taking a plea agreement of a burglary on a Posey County business.
The Posey County Prosecutor's Office says 37-year-old Jessica Guth was sentenced to 42 months (3 1/2 years) after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from breaking and entering Whackerz, a golf simulation business in Wadesville, on January 9.
Officials state Guth admitted to stealing a computer and golf clubs from the business.

According to court records, arriving deputies saw broken glass, and surveillance footage showed a female breaking a window to gain access. The footage also revealed the woman, later identified as Guth, was driving a black Toyota Solara.
According to an affidavit, on January 10, a Posey County deputy conducted a traffic stop on the Toyota where the computer was recovered. Deputies also recovered the stolen golf clubs from a nearby residence.
Officials state Guth later admitted to the crime when questioned about the items.
'I'm grateful Ms. Guth has been held accountable for her criminal behavior,' said Posey County Prosecutor Thomas Clowers. 'She made the decision to break in and steal from a Posey County business, and she's going to serve a prison sentence because of her actions. Of course, this would not have been possible without the investigative efforts of the Posey County Sheriff's Office. Within a short period of time after the burglary, law enforcement was able to identify and apprehend Ms. Guth, as well as recover the stolen property.'
Guth will serve her sentence at the Indiana Department of Correction.

Teen in clown mask goes on robbery spree, then parent turns him in, IN cops say

Police were searching for a person accused of robbing cars in a 'clown-like mask' when a parent walked into the sheriff's office with their 16-year-old son, Indiana deputies said. The teen went on a two-night crime spree in an Evansville neighborhood, where he broke into two vehicles on June 19 and tried to rob more vehicles and a home on June 22, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office said in a June 24 news release. 'This is just youthful immaturity,' Sheriff Noah Robinson told WEHT. 'Wearing a mask like that ramped up social media attention and led to this person's parents seeing it posted online.' Police did not identify the teen suspect. Two residents said cash, a laptop and designer handbags were taken from their vehicles as home surveillance footage captured the masked teen, according to deputies. Three days later, the teen was seen on home surveillance footage as he tried to open several locked vehicles and a locked garage, according to the sheriff's office. Another person said two window screens were removed from their home, which police believe was an attempt at burglary. The teen did not get into the home, garage or vehicles on June 22, deputies said. A parent recognized their child in the surveillance video posted to social media by the sheriff's office in the hopes of identifying the suspect. They brought their child to the sheriff's office, where the teen confessed, deputies said. 'We are grateful to the parent who demonstrated courage and integrity by doing the right thing, even under difficult circumstances,' Robinson said in a statement. 'Their decision to bring their child forward not only aided our investigation, but also gave this young person an opportunity to face consequences and access the resources available through Juvenile Court.' Multiple stolen items were found at the teen's home, according to deputies. The teen is currently in the Youth Care Center and is held pending proceedings in juvenile court, deputies said. He was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, theft as a felony and two counts of theft as a misdemeanor. Evansville is about a 175-mile drive southwest from Indianapolis.

Owensboro police host first ‘police in the park' of the summer

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — The Owensboro Police Department took over Moreland Park Thursday afternoon, all for a good time with the people they serve. OPD says the event encourages open communication between local law enforcement and residents. Patrol officers and detectives grilled free meals, talked and answered questions. One woman says she brought her 5-year-old granddaughter after noticing her uneasiness around police. How would phasing out FEMA impact Kentucky? 'I live in the middle of town, and we don't have a lot of police activity. So, I just want her to feel safe and be able to go up to a policeman and say 'help' if she needs help,' says Susan Hall, who attended the event. A mobile resource unit also offered information on food insecurity, housing, employment, and more. Officials say they hope to host 3 more Police in the Park events before the summer is over.
