Two IPT students fined for possessing pornographic content in Kota Bharu
The accused, Muhammad Al Azamuddin Al Fadzil, 22, and Mohamad Syahmi Firas Mohd Jurij, 27, were each fined RM4,000, while Mohd Hanafi Ibrahim, 47, was fined RM3,000. The charges were read separately before Magistrate Wan Mohd Izzat Wan Abdullah.
The trio were found with pornographic content on their mobile phones at a house in Jalan Kemumin, Kampung Pulau Belacan, Panchor, at 1.15 am on June 18. They were charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years' imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Deputy public prosecutors Muhammad Nadzir Abdullah and Nur Haziqah Hassan urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence, citing the accused's immoral actions and breach of public norms.
Defence lawyer Chong Yin Xin requested leniency, stating that her clients had repented. 'Mohd Hanafi has health issues and underwent brain surgery in 2016. He is supported by his sister, a PWD working in a restaurant. Muhammad Al Azamuddin is a first-year student, and Mohamad Syahmi Firas is in his final year. GOF seizes 14 goats, 190kg of ketum in Kelantan raids
PASIR MAS: The General Operations Force (GOF) has seized 14 goats and 190kg of ketum leaves, with a combined estimated value of over RM18,000, in two separate operations carried out here and in Tanah Merah. GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said two local men were arrested in connection with the possession of the livestock and the ketum leaves. He said both seizures were made under Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan, which took place on Monday and last night. In the first operation, members of the 7th Battalion spotted a suspicious vehicle at Chabang Empat Tendong in Pasir Mas at around 7pm yesterday. "Upon inspection, GOF personnel found 14 goats cramped in the rear of the vehicle. "The 41-year-old driver failed to produce any documentation for the animals, which are believed to have been intended for sale on the local market. The estimated value of the seizure is RM10,500," he said. The case has been referred to the Kelantan Veterinary Department for further action under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953. In a separate case, Ros Azhan said GOF personnel discovered several packages of ketum leaves in a vehicle. "The car was stopped as it passed through Kampung Bechah Butir Nangka in Tanah Merah at around 9am on Monday. Inside, the personnel found 19 black plastic packages containing 190kg of ketum leaves. The driver was also detained. "The seizure, valued at about RM7,600, has been handed over to the Tanah Merah Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.

Insurance agent in Melaka charged with stalking, defaming ex-wife

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : An insurance agent pleaded not guilty in two separate courts in Melaka today to five charges involving offensive communication, criminal intimidation and defamation against his former wife last month. At the Ayer Keroh sessions court, Akmal Helmi Mat Sirat, 35, was accused of three counts of knowingly posting offensive content on Facebook intended to annoy and harass Masura Mustafa, 40, on June 30, July 3 and July 4 at Taman Bukit Piatu Mutiara, Bernama reported. He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail term of up to one year, or both, upon conviction. At the magistrates' court, Akmal was charged with two counts of repeatedly following and intimidating the victim at Putra Melaka Hospital and a furniture shop from July 7 to 23, and posting a defamatory statement on Facebook on July 4. He was charged under Sections 507A and 500 of the Penal Code, which carry maximum penalties of three years' imprisonment, a fine or both, and two years' imprisonment, a fine or both, respectively. Sessions court judge Haderiah Siri allowed bail at RM15,000 for all three charges, with conditions, including no contact with prosecution witnesses and to report to the nearest police station once a month. Magistrate Sharda Shienha Suleiman set bail at RM6,000 for both charges, and ordered Akmal to report to the police station weekly and to have no contact with prosecution witnesses. Both courts fixed Aug 26 for case mention. Deputy public prosecutors Wardah Ishhar and Syaza Nur Sharif appeared for the prosecution, while Akmal was represented by lawyer Haziq Aizuddin Subhi.

KL Immigration raids three-storey spa offering sex services
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur branch of the Malaysian Immigration Department raided a massage parlour and uncovered prostitution activities on Wednesday (July 30). The raid through Ops Gegar was carried out on a three-storey spa in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Bukit Bintang here at around 4.45pm based on public complaints. KL Immigration director-general Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said during the raid, a total of 22 individuals were arrested, comprising 15 foreign women, five foreign men and two local men, aged between 19 and 36 years. He said all the women arrested were believed to be working as sex workers, including six Indonesian women, five Vietnamese women, two Bangladeshi women, one Mongolian and one Chinese woman. "These premises offer sex and body massage packages or sex services only with an estimated price of around RM250 to RM450, depending on the nationality of the sex workers involved," he said when met at the raid location on Wednesday. According to him, two local men who were acting as guards at the premises were arrested under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for protecting, hiring or employing illegal immigrants. "All foreigners, including men believed to be employees or customers at the premises, were detained under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating the conditions of passes or permits issued under the Immigration Act 1959/63. "A total of seven summons notices to witnesses have been issued to customers and employees to appear to assist in the investigation at the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department," he added. – Bernama
