KL Immigration raids three-storey spa offering sex services
The raid through Ops Gegar was carried out on a three-storey spa in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Bukit Bintang here at around 4.45pm based on public complaints.
KL Immigration director-general Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said during the raid, a total of 22 individuals were arrested, comprising 15 foreign women, five foreign men and two local men, aged between 19 and 36 years.
He said all the women arrested were believed to be working as sex workers, including six Indonesian women, five Vietnamese women, two Bangladeshi women, one Mongolian and one Chinese woman.
"These premises offer sex and body massage packages or sex services only with an estimated price of around RM250 to RM450, depending on the nationality of the sex workers involved," he said when met at the raid location on Wednesday.
According to him, two local men who were acting as guards at the premises were arrested under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for protecting, hiring or employing illegal immigrants.
"All foreigners, including men believed to be employees or customers at the premises, were detained under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating the conditions of passes or permits issued under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
"A total of seven summons notices to witnesses have been issued to customers and employees to appear to assist in the investigation at the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department," he added. – Bernama

BUTTERWORTH: Operating on the seventh floor of a building in Jalan Bagan Luar, an entertainment centre allegedly offered what was advertised as an "exclusive package" where customers paid up to RM300 per hour to select guest relation officers (GROs) based on their body numbers. The centre's operations were uncovered during a raid by the Immigration Department early this morning, which led to the arrest of 37 foreigners, 35 of whom were suspected of working as GROs. Immigration Department Enforcement Division director Basri Othman said the 1am raid encountered obstacles when the premises' management detected the presence of the operation team and locked all entry points, including lifts and stairwell doors. He said the raiding party had to break through several metal doors to gain access. "After gaining entry, we inspected 110 people and detained 37 foreigners, aged between 23 and 45, including 35, believed to be working as GROs. "They included 19 Vietnamese women, 14 Thai women, two Chinese men and one woman each from China and Laos," he told reporters at the raid site. Basri said that during the inspection of karaoke rooms, several women were found hiding in secret compartments, such as behind sofas, inside speaker boxes and in toilets. "Our checks found that all the detained women were wearing body numbers, and it is believed that customers would select them based on these numbers. "They were paid between RM250 and RM300 per hour, and the money was placed in envelopes marked with the corresponding body numbers, believed to be payment for their services," he added. The entertainment centre is believed to have been operating for about a year and was popular among both local and foreign customers. Basri said most of those detained were found to have violated Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, while several others had overstayed their visas. All detainees were taken to the Seberang Jaya Immigration Office for further investigation before being placed at the Jawi Immigration Depot.

Seven foreigners arrested over Klang murder case in Malaysia
SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested seven foreigners in connection with the murder of a man in Bandar Sentosa, Klang. The suspects, aged between 20 and 34, were detained following a report lodged by a foreign woman on July 23. South Klang district deputy police chief Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah confirmed the arrests. The murder reportedly took place at a shophouse in Lorong Laksamana 20, Bandar Sentosa. The victim, a 28-year-old foreign man, was allegedly stabbed in the body and neck by his housemate. Investigations revealed that a dispute during a drinking session led to the fatal stabbing. Six other foreigners at the scene attempted to dispose of the body by burying it at a garbage disposal site. Police later recovered the victim's body along with the suspected murder weapon. The investigation papers have been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor. All suspects will be charged in the Klang Court today. The main suspect, a 34-year-old man, faces a murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Four other male suspects will be charged under Section 201 for concealing the body. All suspects will also face charges under the Immigration Act for lacking valid travel documents. - Bernama

Fake Philippine passports: Man fined

Kota Kinabalu: A 52-year-old man was fined RM5,000 or jailed six months by the High Court here for having two passports bearing forged immigration stamps, three years ago. Chuk Tai Bo pleaded guilty before Judge Maslinda @ Linda Mohd Ainal to having two Philippine passports under the names of two Filipinas with forged immigration endorsements on Nov 23, 2022, at 6.30am, at a house in Kg Nosoob Baru, Penampang. Advertisement The charge under Section 56(1)(l) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and punishable under Section 56(1)(aa) of the same Act, provides for a fine of up to RM10,000 or imprisonment of up to five years, on conviction. The charge was brought against Chuk, after a representation submitted by his defence counsel was accepted by the prosecution. Chuk's charge under Section 26E of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 for allegedly providing two fake passports to the Filipinas for the purpose of facilitating migrant smuggling, had been withdrawn. The court heard from the prosecution that on Nov 15, 2022, two Filipinas flew from Manila Airport to Palawan, and when they arrived, they were picked up by two unknown men and brought to a hotel in Palawan for the night. Advertisement The following day, they were taken to the Buliluyan port and travelled by boat to Kudat, Sabah and from Kudat, they were transported to Penampang, arriving at around 10pm on Nov 18. In Penampang, the two women were received by a married couple, Michael Pillai and Phoebe Yanog Indae, who brought them to their home in Kg Nosoob. While at the house, Phoebe requested the passports from the two women and they handed over their passports to Phoebe. Phoebe then handed the passports to Chuk, along with payment of RM2,800 per passport, endorsed with forged immigration stamps. Chuk on Nov 23, at 6.30am, returned the two passports, bearing forged stamps indicating entry into Sabah through Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Nov 18, 2022, to the women at a house in Kg Nosoob Baru. Counsel Luke Ressa Balang, representing Chuk, applied for a lenient sentence citing his role as the sole breadwinner for his family and the hardship faced since his arrest. Luke said Chuk has five children, four of whom are still in school, and his wife had left him due to the ongoing case, leaving him solely responsible for supporting the family. Luke added that Chuk, who works as a cook at a restaurant, was arrested on Dec 7, 2022 and remanded for seven months before being granted bail in July 2023. Luke further submitted that Chuk is a first-time offender and had no prior criminal record and had also taken earlier opportunities to plead guilty, showing remorse for his actions, adding that he suffers from thyroid disorder and high blood pressure and undergoes regular medical check-ups at the hospital. Deputy Public Prosecutor Dacia Jane Romanus urged for a deterrent sentence, citing the rampant immigration offences, especially in Sabah. On Aug 1, Michael Pillai and his Filipina wife Phoebe Yanoc Indoc were each fined RM10,000 by the High Court for allowing two Filipino illegal immigrants to stay at their home in Penampang, on Nov 23, 2022.
