ITV News26-04-2025
Guernsey FC will be relegated from the Isthmian South Central league despite winning 3-0 in their final game of the season.
The Green Lions beat Harrow Borough away on Saturday afternoon (26 April) but other games within the league meant they couldn't break above the relegation line.
Nearest rivals, Metropolitan Police, won their game against Sutton Common Rovers (2-0) which secured their survival and ensuring Guernsey went down.
It means they end the season on 42 points - just one below Binfield who sit in the last of the safe positions.
Jacob Fallaize scored the Lion's first goal during the 15th minute giving Guernsey an early lead.
Fin Du Port doubled that lead in the 44th minute thanks to a cross from Brandon Wallace
The final goal came from Charlton Gauvain just two minutes into the second half.

Guernsey's cricketers set to face Papua New Guinea

Guernsey will face Papua New Guinea in a series of international matches this are in the Channel Islands ahead of the ICC Challenge League A tournament in Jersey later this month. The two sides will play a T20 international on Thursday before 50-over games on Saturday and Sunday - all games will be played at the KGV. Guernsey lost to Jersey by eight wickets in a 50-over inter-island clash on Saturday - a month after they competed in the final round of qualifying for the T20 World Cup for the first time. PNG are currently 22nd in the ICC's T20 rankings and qualified for the 2021 and 2024 T20 World were beaten by Jersey in a one-day match when the sides last met in 2024. "This obviously represents yet another significant step up for us," Guernsey team manager Rob Thomson said."However, it is an opportunity too good to turn down and a win would give us a big boost to our ranking points. It's certainly something all the squad are fully embracing."Knowing they were heading this way, I reached out to their board and put forward a proposal which sees their pre-tournament preparations take place here in Guernsey, which is a huge coup for the island."Alongside the T20I, PNG will utilize our top-class facilities at KGV on Friday for training before concluding their short visit with two 50-over games at the weekend."

Richardson impresses Jersey boss after Guernsey display

Jersey boss Paul Hutchison says George Richardson has done his best to force his way into the side after his five-wicket haul against 20-year-old tore into the Sarnian batters with figures of 5-38 as Guernsey were bowled out for 150 in 43 went on to reach their target in just 25.2 overs to record an eight-wicket win away from home."He's been on the edge of the squad for a while, he's been chomping at the bit to get in," Hutchison told BBC Radio Jersey."He was in Holland with us and he's been part of the A team stuff that we did over in England in London probably six weeks ago."So he's really been pushing hard and he impressed with the way he went about his business."He kept it pretty simple and that was enough."Richardson was part of Jersey's squad at the recent T20 World Cup qualifiers - but did not play a game as the islanders registered a historic win over Scotland but finished one place off making the 2026 T20 World Cup. But Richardson could well feature in the ICC Challenge League tournament that the island will host later this top their division after the first round of 50 over matches and would progress to the next stage of qualifying for the Cricket World Cup if they can top the group after the final round next year."I think we're in a healthy place, the competition for places is strong," Hutchison said."We've got a tournament starting in just under two weeks and we can pick 14 and I'm probably picking from a very strong 20 of the inner circle."So there's going to be lads out there who are going to be disappointed."But ultimately, if I've got those kinds of headaches, then Jersey's in a good spot, it's better than the other way around."
