Check Out This Star Wars Galactic Map, and How It Clears Up Confusion About a Galaxy Far, Far Away
The map divvies up the Star Wars galaxy into important regions. Movie fans might be familiar with the core worlds (where Coruscant is) and the outer rim (where you can find Tatooine), but the deep core, colony worlds, inner rim, expansion region and unknown regions are also included from almost all of the Star Wars movies and shows (which you can stream now on Disney Plus).
You can also see who controls what parts of the galaxy, as Bothan- and Hutt-controlled planetary belts are clearly marked on the maps. It's nice to know these things, so you can avoid ending up in one of those wretched hives of scum and villainy.
While this galactic map existed prior to its current iteration, a blog post by writer Jason Fry mentions that it was taken down for a massive overhaul.
"The plan is to keep updating this page with periodic revisions to the map and appendix," the post reads. "I also hope to unveil redesigned regional maps with sector borders and continue the sector mapping project with the Inner Rim, Colonies, Core and Deep Core."
The current iteration of the galactic map is caught up with the sequels, featuring the Jedi planet Ahch-To and Sith planet Exegol in the unknown regions of space. It also includes many of the new information from more recent Disney Plus Star Wars shows, including Andor and The Bad Batch.
As it continues to be updated, it'll hopefully also add worlds to come in upcoming Star Wars movies and series like The Mandalorian & Grogu (coming in 2026) and Star Wars: Starfighter (coming in 2027).
The blog post also includes an alphabetized list of planets that are shown on the map, which might make it easier to find what you're looking for. There are more than 1,000 celestial bodies to keep an eye on, so it might take you a minute to pick out a given planet if you aren't sure which sector it's located in.
This resource was created as a companion piece for the Star Wars Timelines book, which contains other key information about the Star Wars universe, including chronological charts for the most important events, characters and storylines in the galaxy.

Hulu and Disney+ will be combined into one app, Disney says
Walt Disney Co. is integrating Hulu and Disney+ into one app, the entertainment company announced Wednesday. During an earnings call, CEO Bob Iger said Disney would combine the two streaming services to create a "unified app experience" that will feature entertainment, news and sports. "This will create an impressive package of entertainment, pairing the highest caliber brands and franchises, great general entertainment kids, programming news and industry leading live sports content all in a single app," Iger said on the call. The new "unified Disney Plus and Hulu streaming app" will be available to consumers in 2026, the Disney CEO added. Disney did not immediately respond to CBS News' request for comment. Iger said the move would generate a "better consumer experience" and lead to "greater advertising revenue potential" by allowing the company to package ad sales together more efficiently. "I imagine down the road it may give us some price elasticity as well that we haven't had before," Iger noted. Disney also announced Wednesday the Aug. 21 debut of an "enhanced ESPN App" that can be bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for $29.99/month. The news came amid Disney's latest earnings report, which showed a boost in the entertainment company's profit thanks to new streaming subscribers and strong sales at its domestic theme parks. Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions totaled 183 million, up 2.6 million from the second quarter. Disney has run Hulu since 2019. Last month, the media powerhouse paid Comcast's NBCUniversal nearly $439 million to finalize its purchase of the streaming service. "Clankers": A robot slur emerges to express disdain for AI's takeover
AI is everywhere whether you like it or not, and some online have turned to a choice word to express their frustration. Why it matters: Referring to an AI bot as a "clanker" (or a "wireback," or a "cogsucker") has emerged as a niche, irreverent internet phenomenon that illuminates a broader disdain for the way AI is overtaking technology, labor, and culture. State of play: The concerns range from major to minor: people are concerned that AI will put them out of a job, but they're also annoyed that it's getting harder to reach a human being at their mobile carrier. "When u call customer service and a clanker picks up" one X post from July reads, with over 200,000 likes, alongside a photo of someone removing their headset in resignation. "Genuinely needed urgent bank customer service and a clanker picked up," reads another from July 30. Here's what to know: Where "clanker" comes from Context: The word is onomatopoeic, but the term can be traced back to Star Wars. It comes from a 2005 Star Wars video game, "Republic Commando," according to Know Your Meme. The term was also used in 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars: "Okay, clankers," one character says. "Eat lasers." Robot-specific insults are a common trope in science fiction. In the TV Show Battlestar Galactica, characters refer to the robots as "toasters" and "chrome jobs." Hulu to Fully Combine With Disney Plus and Expand Globally: What We Know So Far
More than a year after launching its "Hulu on Disney Plus experience" in the US, Disney announced plans Wednesday to completely integrate Hulu into its Disney Plus streaming service. Additionally, Hulu will become available internationally once the merger happens next year, the company shared in its third-quarter earnings report. The Hulu tile was added to Disney Plus in March 2024, allowing subscribers who have both services to watch Hulu content within the Disney Plus app. The Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger said today that this fall, the Hulu tile will replace the Star tile on the service for international customers. He added that the new offering will give customers more choice and convenience. Pricing details and exact timeline were not discussed, nor do we know what new bundling options might open up down the road, but changes are on the way. "Over the coming months, we will be implementing improvements within the Disney Plus app, including exciting new features and a more personalized homepage," he said, "all of which will culminate with the unified Disney Plus and Hulu streaming app experience that will be available to consumers next year." Disney Plus viewers can watch movies and shows from brands like Star Wars and Marvel, a suite of live channels that includes ABC News and The Simpsons, and if they're subscribed to Hulu or ESPN, a selection of content from both services. According to an executive summary (PDF) shared ahead of Wednesday's earnings call, the merged version of the streaming app will offer "family programming, news, and industry-leading live sports content." Though Iger did not explicitly state whether Hulu will be phased out completely, he mentioned that the merge will result in "efficiencies when these are together. It will be on one tech stack, for instance, one tech platform." He hinted that the Hulu and Disney combo may result in new -- or more -- bundles for customers. "I imagine down the road, it may give us some price elasticity as well that we haven't had before," said Iger. "And it also provides us with a tremendous bundling experience because when you have the one app that has a significant amount of all of the Disney and the other Disney-branded programming with the general entertainment programming bundled, for instance, with the ESPN direct-to-consumer app." The media giant's new standalone sports streaming service -- dubbed ESPN -- will replace ESPN Plus and launch on Aug. 21 (rather than the fall) and be included in current Disney bundle offerings with pricing that starts at $36 a month to watch with ads. Once the Hulu and Disney Plus merger happens next year, customers may see new streaming packages from the company.
