
Hyundai to launch next-gen Venue, Ioniq 5 facelift in 2025; 26 cars planned by 2030
Hyundai Motor India is all set to launch a wave of vehicles in the Indian automotive market. On May 16, the company announced its ambitious future plan of launching 26 models in India by FY30. These launches are part of a broader strategy to introduce 26 new products by the end of FY2030, comprising a mix of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs), and hybrid models. The second-generation Hyundai Venue, internally codenamed QU2i, is expected to debut around the festive season. Spy shots from South Korea and India reveal a comprehensively redesigned sub-compact SUV that retains its signature boxy silhouette while introducing sharper, modern styling. Key exterior updates include a wider front grille with rectangular elements, split LED headlamps, new alloy wheels, and horizontal two-piece taillights. The Venue is also expected to feature Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and front parking sensors.

Inside, the 2025 Venue is expected to offer ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, new leatherette upholstery, and a redesigned dashboard housing a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

The powertrain lineup is likely to carry over from the existing model, offering a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol delivering 82bhp, a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol generating 118bhp, and a 1.5-litre diesel that churns out 114bhp, paired with a range of manual and automatic transmission options including 7-speed DCT. Following its global debut in 2024, the facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5 is set to arrive in India this year as a completely knocked-down (CKD) import. The updated electric SUV brings subtle yet impactful changes, including sportier design elements. The facelifted Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift will feature subtle cosmetic upgrades, including a newly styled bumper with a distinctive V-shaped trim element and refreshed alloy wheels as well. These updates increase the vehicle's overall length to 4,655mm — 20mm longer than the outgoing model. The wheelbase remains at 3,000mm, while height and width are measured at 1,605mm and 1,890mm respectively.

The RWD version generates 221bhp and 350bNm of torque, while the AWD variant delivers 315bhp and 605Nm. Range estimates include 394km for the 63kWh RWD version, 511km for the 84kWh RWD variant, and 466km for the 84kWh AWD model. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson says Pakistan airspace ban adding to flying costs
The continuing ban for Indian airlines in using Pakistani airspace is adding flying hours for non-stop flights and will weigh down Air India Ltd.'s path to profitability, its top executive said in an interview. 'The impact is significant but we have been able to sustain non-stop operations' to most destinations in North America and Europe, Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson said in a Bloomberg TV interview Monday. 'It'll certainly hit our bottomline.' The airspace curbs have increased flying time for west-bound flights from India by an hour or so, according to Wilson, who declined to give details on the discussions the Tata Group-owned carrier was having with stakeholders on this front. The armed conflict between India and Pakistan that erupted May 7 was the worst between the nuclear-armed neighbors in decades, with both sides trading drone and missile strikes besides artillery and small arms fire along their shared border. It was triggered by a gruesome attack on civilians in Indian-controlled Kashmir on April 22. While a ceasefire was announced on May 10, Pakistan has extended the airspace ban for Indian airlines until June 24. Geopolitical strife has been complicating flying routes and business models for airlines globally in the past few years as they skirt conflict zones. Tariffs are also now a closely watched development for the sector. 'We want certainty. Uncertainty is difficult when you are making investment decisions,' Wilson said, adding that this was a common theme at the ongoing aviation industry event in New Delhi. Air India, the unprofitable carrier which the Tata conglomerate acquired from the Indian government in 2021, will start receiving new planes it had ordered toward the end of this year, according to Wilson. The deliveries are 'later than we hoped, slower than we hoped,' he said. 'It is constraining our ambitions a little bit in the short term but the long term opportunity for this market is massive, so we are very, very confident.'
