Poonam Dhillon defends Sridevi: She was brilliant, not dumb as media claimed

India Today2 days ago
Veteran actor Poonam Dhillon on Monday stated that the late actor Sridevi was not as 'dumb' as she was often portrayed in the media. Dhillon called her a bright and sharp woman and said she refuses to believe otherwise. In an interview with ANI, the 63-year-old said, "Sridevi is such a brilliant actor. She couldn't be so brilliant if she were dumb. The media would write, 'Oh she's dumb. She'll say, 'ask mummy, ask mummy.' I say that's a ploy. She's a very bright and sharp girl. Otherwise, how can she be such an amazing actor? I refuse to believe it."advertisementShe also praised her work and added, "I've always been an admirer of her work. I have worked with her on a couple of films. But she was a subdued person." The duo shared the screen space in films like 'Sone Pe Suhaaga' and 'Judaai'.
Dhillon shared that even she acted dumb for years. She said, "Oh, I've done that for years. I was this dumb blonde. I didn't understand anything anybody was saying for years and years. It was for two reasons. Sometimes, if non-veg jokes were being cracked on the set, you didn't sit and guffaw with them. You just pretended you didn't understand only what they've said. So, you know, that little distance is maintained."The veteran actor added, "The moment you start backslapping and cracking non-veg jokes with the heroes, they, in our times, used to think that it's a signal that you are a little more than willing for certain things. So being dumb was very convenient for years."On the work front, Poonam Dhillon was last seen in Riteish Deshmukh and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer 'Plan A Plan B'. She was also a part of JioHotstar show 'Dil Bekaraar'.- EndsMust Watch

Siddharth Anand drops a hilarious tweet amid 'Tara Rum Pum' comparisons to Brad Pitt's 'F1'

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 2 (ANI): Filmmaker Siddharth Anand's directorial 'Tara Rum Pum', which was released in 2007, is remembered by fans to date. And now when Hollywood icon Brad Pitt's film 'F1' is doing wonders at the box office, Indian fans have surprisingly created memes, joking about how the international film is inspired by Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji-starrer 'Tara Rum Pum'. Seems like those memes caught Siddharth's attention as he on Tuesday dropped a post, calling 'Tara Rum Pum' a 'lovely beast.' 'Tara Rum Pum' follows the story of a race car driver, RV (Saif), and his wife Radhika (Rani), as they face life's highs and lows with their two children. Meanwhile, Siddharth is currently busy shooting for 'King', which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan among others. 'King' was supposed to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh earlier. However, Siddharth Anand, who directed SRK in 'Pathaan', later took over as the director. A few months ago, at an event in Dubai, SRK opened up about King, saying, 'I'm not just shooting it here, I'm shooting it in Mumbai now when I go back in a couple of months. My director, who is Sidharth Anand, is very strict. He made Pathaan. So he is very strict. He said, 'Don't tell people about the film, what you are doing in it.' So I can't tell you but I can assure you it will entertain you, you will have fun. I've used many we have run out of Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan in King. That was a bit of a show-off.' The film went on floors in Mumbai recently. (ANI)
