The two, who joined Khan for the special screening, were seen posing with the actor for photographers with a smile, making it a warm moment for those attending the event.
Last month, a special screening of the film was held in Delhi, where Congress MP Shashi Tharoor joined Aamir. After watching the film, Tharoor praised it for its emotional depth and strong message.
Tharoor said, 'It is an emotional and heartwarming movie. It teaches a lot. All of Aamir's performances are great, so I expected nothing less. His acting was first-class in the movie... I liked the story as well. It was well-written. Anyone who watches this movie will not only enjoy it but also learn a lot.'
He added, 'Many ambassadors who attended the screening expressed their happiness at being there to watch the film... A Lok Sabha staff member was here with his physically challenged daughter. Looking at her smile while watching the movie made him (Aamir Khan) tear up.'
Talking about Sitaare Zameen Par, it is a sequel to the blockbuster movie 'Taare Zameen Par'. In the sports drama, Aamir plays the role of a basketball coach who is tasked with training a group of neurodivergent children. The film, directed by Prasanna, hit theatres on June 20. (ANI)

EC admitted 20% would fall off voter list: Congress
NEW DELHI: A day after opposition parties met EC to oppose the special electoral list revision in Bihar, Congress Thursday alleged the poll watchdog had conceded to the delegation that it "assumes" 20% of voters will be weeded out in the review, and termed EC's stance a "threat" to the Constitution and marginalised communities like SC/ST/OBCs. Its ally CPI(ML) Liberation threatened to launch an huge agitation against the exercise, saying the opposition's pleas to EC had fallen on deaf ears. Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram alleged EC is working on a conspiracy to remove two crore of the eight crore-plus voters, with a focus on migrant workers. Addressing the media with AICC state in-charge Krishna Allavaru and spokesman Pawan Khera, Ram said it is not possible for the poor in Bihar "to produce documents like a birth certificate that they have never had before", that too in 30 days. But EC appeared to have made up its mind and was not receptive to concerns expressed by the opposition, he said. Allavaru said the same eight crore-plus voters had voted in the Lok Sabha polls a year ago, and now their credentials are being questioned. "Yesterday, EC twice said it assumes 20% of voters will be out of the voter list," he said, adding, "EC should be losing sleep over 2% voters being left out, and here it is talking so casually about leaving out 20% voters". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it legal? "The commission doesn't reply for months when LoP Rahul Gandhi asks for the old voter list for Maharashtra but is ready to prepare a new voter list in a month." "Why should we approach an intermediary, we will speak to BJP directly," he said.

Donald Trump's Big Beautiful Bill passes crucial House vote in massive GOP win
President Donald Trump scored a massive win on Thursday as Congress narrowly passed his flagship One Big Beautiful Bill Act, advancing his second-term agenda with enhanced funding for his anti-immigration policies. The bill, passed 218-214 in the House, will now head to Trump's desk and be signed into law. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson poses for a picture with U.S. Representative John Rutherford (R-FL)(REUTERS) House Speaker Mike Johnson worked overnight to unify dissenting Republicans, overcoming resistance from a small group wary of the bill's impact on Medicaid and SNAP. The vote, delayed nearly nine hours by Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries' filibuster, will allow Trump to sign the bill into law on on July 4. Trump celebrated on Truth Social, calling it 'one of the most consequential Bills ever' and the US the 'HOTTEST Country.' Read More: Big Beautiful Bill passes House vote: Who are the 2 Republicans who voted against Trump's mega bill The bill, which cleared the Senate 51-50 earlier this week, fulfills Trump's campaign pledges: $4.5 trillion to extend 2017 tax cuts, increased military spending, and funding for mass deportations. However, it slashes Medicaid—potentially leaving 17 million uninsured and cuts SNAP, risking rural hospital closures. Jeffries denounced it as a 'disgusting abomination' that harms everyday Americans. Republican moderates fear electoral backlash in 2026, while fiscal hawks, like Rep Thomas Massie, criticized insufficient savings in the 869-page bill. Speaker Johnson navigated a tight 218-217 GOP majority, with only three defections affordable. The bill ends clean energy and electric vehicle subsidies, sparking a public feud with Elon Musk, a former Trump ally. The president's recent successes, including a Supreme Court ruling curbing judicial blocks on his policies and U.S. air strikes securing an Israel-Iran ceasefire, bolster his momentum. Jairam Ramesh 'misses' EC meet after 2-person cap alters Congress plan
Jairam Ramesh (File photo) NEW DELHI: Though Election Commission had specifically invited only party heads, along with another person authorised by the party head, for Wednesday's multi-party meeting sought by an AICC counsel to discuss the special intensive revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral roll, just four of the 11 parties sent prior confirmation of their participation and only two had their party heads in attendance. No confirmation email for the July 2 meeting - offered by the poll panel in response to the June 30 letter from AICC counsel Omar Hoda seeking an "urgent meeting" on behalf of 10 parties - was received from the remaining seven parties, including Congress, DMK, TMC, Samajwadi Party, NCP-SP and JMM. Shiv Sena (UBT) was part of the 11-party INDIA delegation but was not mentioned in the AICC e-mail to EC. Congress, which later expressed unhappiness with EC's two-person invite limit, arrived at Nirvachan Sadan on Wednesday with a team of 6-7 members. However, it eventually honoured EC's call to restrict the nominees to two persons, choosing Abhishek Singhvi and Bihar PCC chief Rajesh Kumar to represent the party in the discussion. Other Congress members like Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera had to sit out. EC sources said the decision to keep them out and send Singhvi and Kumar instead was "entirely between members of the Congress delegation", since the party president had not nominated anybody. " Out of a total of 14 persons who attended the meeting, there were heads of two parties - CPI and CPI(ML) Liberation - and five others authorised to attend by their respective party heads, which included two each from RJD and CPM and one from CPI (ML) Liberation. The remaining seven participants had no authorisation from the heads of their political parties, including the Congress president," said an EC functionary. "Some of the participants were given an appointment by EC, and others were allowed to join in without any prior appointment. Still the Commission decided to meet two representatives from every party to hear their views," an EC officer told TOI. During the meeting, the parties were briefed by EC on the SIR guidelines, which the latter said were strictly in conformity with Article 326 of the Constitution and provisions of R P Act, 1950. The parties were urged to appoint more BLAs, already numbering around 1.5 lakh, and work closely with block level officers during the roll revision.
