Allison Williams wants Girls reunion
Allison Williams would "love" to be part of a Girls reunion. The 37-year-old actress shot to fame playing Marnie in the HBO series, which ran for six seasons until 2017, and she has backed former co-star Zosia Mamet's calls for a spin-off series because she is so keen to get the cast "back together". Asked if there would be a Girls reunion, she told The Guardian newspaper: "I would love it. I know that Zosia has been pushing for a spin-off, which I would voraciously consume and try to elbow my way into. "I kind of want us all back together. "It was so fun and it was the beginning of my career, so I didn't have the perspective I have now on just how lucky we were, or to know how unusual a creative experience it was.' Despite her enthusiasm, Allison initially struggled with viewers thinking she was similar to her narcissistic alter ego on the show. She said: 'I really desired to put distance between us, because I thought that was the kind of acting everybody respected – like, I'm wearing a prosthetic nose and I gained 40lbs, or whatever. "And here [our characters] were, who looked basically like we looked and sounded like we sounded, but crucially said and did things that we would never do. It always felt weird that, since we didn't transform ourselves in some way, people weren't buying us playing characters.' Girls faced a lot of criticism, including for a lack of racial diversity, but Allison thinks any "valid" viewpoints got lost amidst a tide of unfair comments. She said: "[It felt like there were] a gazillion think pieces about every episode that we did – and most thought we all took ourselves too seriously. We were all pretty privileged people who were the leads of this HBO show that was definitely skewering our own, but we weren't given credit for that, or for being in on it." Of the unjust comments directed their way, she added: "The shame is that, when it is coupled with misogyny and fatphobia and everything, the valid criticism gets lost. "We were easy targets, I get it.'

J.K. Rowling Reacts To Scripts For The First Two Episodes of HBO's HARRY POTTER Series — GeekTyrant
As HBO's Harry Potter reboot moves forward, J.K. Rowling has taken to social media to share her early thoughts on the upcoming show, and unsurprisingly, she's giving it high marks. 'I read the first two episodes of the forthcoming HBO Harry Potter series and they are SO, SO, SO GOOD!' Rowling posted on X. She later clarified that while she's not writing the scripts herself, she has been heavily involved behind the scenes working 'closely with the extremely talented writers.' Rowling's endorsement comes at a time when parts of the fandom are sharply divided. Many longtime fans have distanced themselves from the franchise in response to Rowling's criticized and ongoing anti-transgender rhetoric, which continues to draw backlash. Her comments, even recent ones celebrating a UK court ruling that limits legal recognition for trans women have intensified calls from within the entertainment industry to reevaluate professional partnerships with her. More than 400 UK film and TV professionals signed an open letter pushing for such action, including Harry Potter series cast member Paapa Essiedu, who's set to play Professor Snape in the reboot. Despite the public controversy, HBO is standing by its long-time collaboration with Rowling. HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys addressed the situation directly on The Town with Matthew Belloni podcast: 'The decision to be in business with J.K. Rowling is not new for us. We've been in business for 25 years. We already have a show on HBO from her called C.B. Strike that we do with the BBC.' He continued: 'It's pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She's entitled to them. Harry Potter is not secretly being infused with anything. If you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter.' Bloys also emphasized Rowling's role in shaping the series, stating: 'She will be involved. She's an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that.' While acknowledging the complexity of the public conversation surrounding Rowling, Bloys reaffirmed HBO's focus: 'Our priority is what's on the screen. Obviously, the Harry Potter story is incredibly affirmative and positive and about love and self-acceptance. That's our priority — what's on screen.' With production starting this summer and a 2026 premiere in sight, HBO is betting that the story's magic will speak for itself. Whether the fandom's fractured support can be mended remains to be seen.

JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH Director Says Ridley Scott's KINGDOM OF HEAVEN Helped Shape the Look of the Sequel — GeekTyrant
When you think of Ridley Scott's influence on modern filmmakers, your mind probably jumps to Alien or Blade Runner . But for Jurassic World: Rebirth director Gareth Edwards, it was Kingdom of Heaven , Scott's 2005 historical epic, that helped define the visual tone for his upcoming dinosaur-adventure thriller. In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Edwards opened up about his creative process and how that medieval drama unexpectedly became a major source of inspiration for the new Jurassic sequel. Specifically, he praised the film's cinematographer, John Mathieson, whose work with Scott goes all the way back to Gladiator . 'John Mathieson was the director of photography, and the more and more I looked at it, the more I was like, 'This is perfection.' There's not a bad frame in this movie. I've always had this love for his work.' Mathieson has built a long-running collaboration with Scott, having also shot Robin Hood , The Man in the High Castle pilot, and the upcoming Gladiator II . His style is rich, elegant, and painterly, which are traits you wouldn't typically associate with a movie about dinosaurs, but Edwards clearly had a vision. The director said he was determined to work with Mathieson, but it required some careful maneuvering through studio preferences and the approval of executive producer Steven Spielberg. 'When you start a film like this, you have a group of names you'd like to work with, and the studio have a group of names they would trust. Then there's Steven [Spielberg] as well in the middle of that. There was this one little overlap where they all intersected, and everyone agreed on Mathieson.' That overlap turned out to be a win for Edwards.. While the movie may not feature knights and siege towers, the visual tone of Kingdom of Heaven will be there in the atmosphere, the lighting, and the framing of a world where dinosaurs are going around terrorizing people. Jurassic World: Rebirth hits theaters on July 2, 2025.
