‘Stop your profit over the blood of Indians and Armed Forces': BCCI slammed after India vs Pakistan clash at Asia Cup confirmed

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has confirmed that the will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28, with India and Pakistan slated to lock horns on September 14. The announcement was made by the current ACC chairman and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who posted the dates on social media.
The decision to host the tournament in the UAE was taken during the ACC meeting on July 24. While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the official host of the tournament, the matches are being shifted to a neutral venue because India and Pakistan have agreed not to play in each other's countries until at least 2027 due to political tensions.

However, India and Pakistan will still face each other in the Asia Cup. As per the broadcaster agreements, both teams will be placed in the same group and are also likely to meet again in the Super Six stage. If both teams qualify for the final, a third clash is possible, meaning fans could witness India vs Pakistan three times in the tournament.
BCCI slammed for double standards on IND-PAK clash
The announcement has sparked strong political and public reactions in India. Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin questioned the logic of playing Pakistan in ICC and ACC events while refusing to play bilateral series. 'If you're not playing bilateral matches, then you shouldn't play in international events too,' he said, calling out the double standards of the BCCI and the government.
Several politicians also slammed the BCCI and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera slammed the timing of the announcement as it came on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Priyanka Chaturvedi, Rajya Sabha MP, also lashed out at the BCCI.

Despite the backlash, the BCCI is yet to make a statement on the matter. Earlier, a cricket match involving former cricketers from India and Pakistan was called off after criticism on social media. The match was supposed to be played in England in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025.

The FIR, filed at Kalepadal Police Station in Pune, invokes multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The case emerged from a WhatsApp group named Sath Sath Margosa Ladies, comprising women residents of the Margosa Heights residential complex in to the complaint, after Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, several group members expressed admiration for the Indian Armed Forces. Deeba allegedly responded with a laughing emoji, objected to the group being used for patriotic discussions, and later posted a video link from Facebook critical of the Prime Minister. She is also accused of uploading a WhatsApp status featuring a burning Indian flag and making disparaging comments against the lawyer, advocate Harshad Sathe, argued that Deeba was not mentally sound at the time of the incident, had removed the posts shortly afterward, and had issued an apology. He noted that she had already been dismissed from her teaching job and claimed procedural lapses in the issuance of notice under Section 41-A of the bench, however, found sufficient grounds for investigation, noting that the petitioner's conduct, especially in the immediate aftermath of a sensitive military operation, was capable of disturbing public sentiment and attracting penal consequences under to a recent ruling of the Allahabad High Court, the Bombay High Court reiterated that freedom of speech does not extend to derogatory commentary against the Prime Minister or Armed Forces when such speech could disrupt national harmony or incite court emphasised that quashing of criminal proceedings before the filing of a chargesheet is an exception rather than the rule, and that the present case did not warrant such the petition was dismissed, and the investigation against Deeba will continue.- EndsMust Watch

NEW DELHI: President Donald Trump on Tuesday said India may be hit with a tariff of 20-25% - a little lower than the 26% reciprocal tariff announced in April - but cautioned that the final levy had still not been finalised as the two countries negotiate a trade deal ahead of an Aug 1 deadline.
