Home Bargains shoppers impressed as £100 perfume reduced to £40

Daily Mirror30-06-2025
The budget store has knocked a huge 60% off the price of a popular Marc Jacobs perfume
Home Bargains has wowed customers with its latest online offer, which many have hailed for its 'great price'. The discount chain, renowned nationwide for its budget-friendly deals on daily necessities, has dramatically reduced the price of a luxury perfume.
Shoppers can now get a hefty 100ml bottle of Marc Jacobs Dot Eau de Parfum from Home Bargains' website for just £39.99, thanks to an impressive 60% markdown. Typically, this premium scent retails at £100 for an equivalent bottle, even reaching £102 at The Perfume Shop. However, perfume enthusiasts can pocket a whopping £60 saving by purchasing through Home Bargains.

The fragrance itself boasts top notes of red berries, dragonfruit, and luscious honeysuckle. At its heart, the 'floral' essence is enriched with jasmine, coconut water, and orange blossom. It rounds off with a base of smooth vanilla, driftwood, and 'sensual' musks, reports the Liverpool Echo.

On its website, Home Bargains describes the product: "Dive into the delightful world of Marc Jacobs Dot Eau de Parfum! This 100ml floral fragrance bursts with red berries and honeysuckle, blossoming into a heart of jasmine and coconut, finishing with a creamy vanilla touch that's simply irresistible."
With Home Bargains charging a standard home delivery fee of £3.95, the total cost for shoppers comes to £43.94. Yet, this remains a significant bargain compared to the usual retail price tag of £100.
The enticing deal was spotlighted by the thrifty members on the well-liked Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, where a user named Melissa shared a comparison snapshot of the Marc Jacobs Dot perfume prices at Home Bargains and The Perfume Shop.
She pointed out: "Marc Jacobs Dot £39.99 in home bargains or £102 in the perfume shop." The comments section quickly buzzed with excitement over the remarkable price difference. An impressed commenter said: "I just bought 3 the other day."
Another said: "I got this at Xmas, it was £95 and I loved it, everyone in work loved it too. I think I might need to buy it for myself again, so nice." Meanwhile, another added: "It's not a bad price."

On the webpage of The Perfume Shop, the scent by Marc Jacobs boasts an impressive customer rating of 4.7 out of five stars. In a glowing review, one customer described the fragrance as: "It is a really pretty, playful scent, light, fruity, and floral with a fresh, almost tropical vibe." Another content shopper expressed: "I've been wearing Marc Jacobs Dot for a while now and I absolutely love how playful and uplifting it is."
Another designer perfume Home Bargains has slashed in price, is Calvin Klein's Sheer Beauty, which usually costs £62 for 100ml but is now £27. There's also Jimmy Choo's Flash, which has been reduced from £62 to £39.99.

The Mount Bar and Grill in Ammanford reopens as a bistro

On Monday, July 7, The Mount Bar and Grill in Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen, Ammanford began serving food to customers again. (Image: Paul Griffiths) Owner of The Mount Bar and Grill, Mr Paul Griffiths said: 'We opened 12 years ago, and it was a harsh reality when Mr Boris Johnson announced that we were going into lockdown on Friday, March 20, 2020. 'Before that it was Mother's Day, and we had been fully booked on that weekend. But the announcement forced us to stop selling food and much of our stock went to waste. 'Until recently, we have just been open as a regular pub, selling drinks to our customers. But we feel relieved to be back cooking again. We're open as a bistro now from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Saturday. 'It's a slow build but we have gone back to basics, and we are fighters, so let's see what happens. We have been in touch with the community council, and they are happy we are back open for food.' The pub was only serving drinks after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with retirement looming for both of us, there is no guarantee we will transition into a restaurant and serve food in the evening again. 'However, it's always given me a huge sense of pride to serve outstanding food. Whether it's a family or a couple who visit us, serving them a great meal and getting a back on the back from them before they leave is a great feeling.' Mr Griffiths opened the pub 12 years ago.
