The future's in focus for Jake as he launches his own media company in Pembrokeshire

Yahoo02-03-2025
A former Pembrokeshire College media student is now the proud owner of his own creative business.
Jake Aldred has been capturing important moments from weddings and sporting and musical events since successfully launching Jake Aldred Media.
Jake's vision was not to progress to university after college, but to work as a freelance, and it was thanks to his tutor that he was able to realise this ambition.
"I'm incredibly excited to take this next step and build something of my own," he said.
"I studied Creative Media Production Level 3 at Pembrokeshire College - the course really helped me develop a lot of my basic skills for being a videographer and photographer and I started to do some social media work for local businesses and then this allowed me to progress in capturing my first wedding while studying.
'A big help was from my tutor Denys, who understood I did not want to go onto university and instead knew I wanted to become a freelancer and build connections.
'Denys also helped me connect with the right people in the college, such the Enterprise Team where they put me in contact with the local council and helped me secure some funding for my business.'

Jake's particular focus is on the wedding industry, but his portfolio has extended way beyond that, thanks to his coverage of events such as Ironman competitions, the Pembrokeshire County Show, SaundersFest, and high-profile promotional material with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, the Cardiff Dragons Women's Netball Team and S4C.
He also provides videography and photography services for live music events.

Pete Alonso sets Mets HR mark, but how long will he stay in New York?

Yahoo Sports senior MLB analyst Jake Mintz and senior MLB analyst Jordan Shusterman react to Pete Alonso breaking the New York Mets' home run record and discuss what it means for Pete's potential future as a Met. Hear the full conversation on the 'Baseball Bar-B-Cast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Pete Alonso woke up yesterday, Tuesday, August 12th, tied for the career lead in home runs by a New York Met. And last night against Spencer Strider, he clubbed number 253 to pass Darryl Strawberry for the most home runs in franchise history. Huzzah to you, Pete. Uh, yeah, I would say 250. 4 home runs now as he actually had 2 home runs on Tuesday night, is a lot of home runs to have in just 7 major league seasons, really 6.5, uh, when you consider, you know, he lost 100 games during 2020. This has been, not just in Mets history, but in baseball history, one of the most prolific starts to a career from a home run perspective that we have seen. And for Pete Alonso to now have this franchise record, a record that is very interesting to think about in the larger context of baseball history, and we'll kind of talk about how it compares to other franchise home run records. But I know you've been thinking a lot about Pete, the character, Pete the player, where he fits on this year's Mets team and and his career. Pete breaking this record because he stayed for at least for a year, I think is a very poetic way for this to happen. And even more fitting in a kind of sad roundabout way is the idea that it might not continue. From a narrative perspective, it's like, OK, do we build a statue, or is he gonna be on the Reds next year? Like what? Is this now? Presumably if he comes back, it's not gonna be on another 1 year deal. It's gonna be at least a little bit longer, but it, it's probably not gonna be a 7 or 8 or 9-year deal, right? And so he's could still add to this, but you mentioned Soto jokingly, but that's true, man. Like that dude's gonna be, he, he's probably going to catch Pete at some point, assuming he's gonna be there for a very, very, very long time. Um, I guess Lindor is probably not that close and he's obviously a much older. So, but either way, uh, Pete will, will at least have this record for a good amount of time. Close
